Una Church of Christ

But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the
punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed.
Isaiah 53:5
What’s in the Middle
!
I am a fan of Oreo cookies. In fact, I could probably eat a whole package of ‘double stuff’
in one sitting. What makes Oreos so good? It’s not the cookie. The brittle chocolate
cookie, by itself, would be passed over. However, it is the creme that makes the Oreo so
good. It’s not the outside but what’s in the middle that make the Oreo.
!
Similarly, the Judaizers taught that it was outside things (i.e. circumcision) that really
mattered. Paul taught something different. He said that it wasn’t about diets, customs, or
even festivals that mattered. What mattered most was the cross of Christ. More
importantly how the cross of Christ changes the inner-man.
!
The cross of Christ should become the center of the believer’s life. We should live in,
boast in, proclaim, and even revel in the cross of Christ. The cross should be the center of
our lives. After all, it is what matters most!
