 TSA Teaching and Learning Celebration Event
Dear Headteacher,
We cordially invite you and all members of your Senior Leadership Team to a
Teaching and Learning Celebration event at the Thomas Theatre, Kesgrave High
School on Thursday 2nd May.
Lunch will be available from 1-2pm with an opportunity to network with other senior
leaders from across the county.
2-3pm: A keynote presentation by Dr Chris Tomlinson Executive Principal of
Harris Academy Chafford Hundred and The Harris Academy Greenwich, with
time after for a Q&A session.
The event will finish by 4pm.
Included in this invitation pack is a biography of Dr Tomlinson with some data to
showcase the improvement the schools have made under his leadership. The event
will focus on school improvement and in particular how he has significantly improved
the quality of teaching and learning.

Teaching and Learning Biography Dr Chris Tomlinson Executive Principal Harris Academy Chafford Hundred and Harris Academy Greenwich January 2013 Chris has been an Executive Principal for two years, a Principal for eight years, a National Leader of Education for 3 ½ years (currently completing the Fellowship Programme) and a senior leader in a range of schools for fourteen years. As a Principal of Chafford Hundred Campus the results went from 16% to 92% 5 A to C including English and Maths. In January 2010 DfE league tables, Harris Academy Chafford Hundred was the most improved secondary school in the country for four years sustained improvement. The school was awarded High Performing status in 2009 and a National Support School in 2010 after being in an Ofsted category, ‘notice to improve’, in 2007. In November 2011 Ofsted inspection awarded an outstanding judgement in every category at Harris Academy Chafford Hundred, in 2009 and 2010 it was the only school to be shortlisted twice for the secondary school of the year TES awards. A very innovative and successful school and received national recognition for teaching and learning, curriculum and cultural diversity. Expected levels of progress and Raise on line have placed Harris Academy Chafford Hundred in the top percentage for every category for several years now. In January 2010 after Harris Academy Chafford Hundred successfully completed some support work with other schools on the London Challenge, we were given a second school, Eltham Foundation School, to support. Eltham Foundation School was placed in special measures in November 2010. After just over a year the school was taken out of a category and went from 28% 5 A to C including English and Maths to 73 % in 18 months, making it the most improved secondary school ever in that time period, now striving for outstanding and 82% 5 A to C including English and Maths in 2013. With high eighties and low nineties for expected level of progress for English and Maths, Harris Academy Greenwich made the top 5th percentile this year. Eltham became Harris Academy Greenwich in September 2012 and Chafford Hundred Campus became Harris Academy Chafford Hundred in September 2011. Chris was awarded a PhD by the University of East London in January 2010. He has also written many articles on maths and leadership, completing TV and radio work in the same areas, he delivers practical and relevant presentations on maths and school sustainable rapid improvements in an engaging and enthusiastic style.
