Every Tuesday morning, St. Vincent de Paul
assists those in need by providing furniture, clothing,
making partial payments to lower their utility bills. We
also provide help with prescriptions, eye glasses and
other household necessities.

LOS SACRAMENTOS
De acuerdo a la tradición de la Iglesia Católica
hay 7 Sacramentos. Estos Sacramentos fueron instituídos por Cristo. Las palabras y hechos de Cristo
durante su vida son las fundaciones de lo que él dispensaría en los Sacramentos a través de los ministros de su Iglesia. Los Sacramentos son”Poderes que
vienen del Cuerpo de Cristo que es siempre vivo y
siempre da la vida.”
Se puede dividir los Sacramentos en tres
grupos. Primero-Los Sacramentos de Iniciación:
Bautismo, Confirmación y Comunión. Esto es lo
mínimo que un Católico puede recibir. Sin éstos, no
puede ser una madrina o padrino. Iniciación quiere
decir empezar o comenzar. Los próximos dos se
llama Sacramentos de Servicio: Matrimonio y Ordenes Sacerdotales y los últimos, Sacramentos de
Sanación: Reconciliación y el Sacramento de la Unción a los Enfermos.
Dios quiere ser parte de nuestras vidas, de
nuestro nacimiento hasta la muerte y por medio de
los Sacramentos él realiza este deseo. Debemos
tener una gratitud profunda a Dios que toma en
cuenta nuestra humanidad de tal manera que podemos acercamos a Él.
LOS HIJOS Y EL VERANO
Cuando el año escolar termine, es importante que los
niños estén ocupados en las actividades que no sólo les
proveen diversions saludables sino tambien que les estimulen su inteligencia. Una manera hacer esto puede ser
llevandolos a la biblioteca pública para interesarlos mas
en la lectura.
Además del Club de Lectura en el Verano, hay programas de Artes Manuales, clases deYoga para niños,
clases de Dibujo y Pintura.También actividades de baile y
música que están en un horario tadecuado asi como las
oportunidades de ir a los museos locales.
Hay computadoras y clases para aprender a usarlas. A
los niños muy pequeños los cuentos son leidos por la bibliotcaria paras niños. De todos modos, POR FAVOR NO
DEJE QUE EL TELEVISOR SEA LA NIÑERA DURANTE EL VERANO.

¿Qué es el Cursillo de Cristiandad?
Su definición es “un método para encontrar,
formar, sostener y unificar el liderazgo seglar para
Cristo y su Iglesia”. Este “pequeño curso” comenzó
en Palma de Majorca, España en 1944. El Sacerdote,
Padre Gabriel Fernández, quedó muy impresionado
de la diferencia que el Cursillo hizo en las vidas de
los católicos en su Parroquia. Por eso cuando fue
enviado a Texas, él quizo empezar este movimiento
allí y con la ayuda de dos cursillistas españoles, Bernard Vadell y Agustín Palomino lo hizo. (Estas dos
personas asistían a un curso de dos años en Texas
para saber volar un avión de reacción). En 1957, el
Padre Fernández y estas dos personas prepararon y
dieron el primer cursillo en Los Estados Unidos.
El Cursillo no es para los que no saben nada
de la Iglesia Católica ni para los que no han recibido
los Sacramentos es para católicos que ya recibieron
los Sacramentos y van a la Iglesia los domingos pero
a sus vidas les faltan la entrega, el entusiasmo y caridad y que un encuentro real y personal con Cristo
puede darles lo que les falta.
Para mantener la alegría de ser cursillista hay
reuniones cada semana que se llama La Ultreya. La
Ultreya provee inspiración a sus miembros y amistad. En este mundo de diversos valores es importante
tener amistades que comparten los mismos valores
que uno. Este apoyo es una ayuda tremenda a una
persona que está tratando de vivir su vida de acuerdo
con los mandamientos de Dios: Ame al Señor y al
prójimo como Cristo nos enseña en el Evangelio.
PARA LOS CATÓLICOS QUE DESEAN
RECIBIR LOS SACRAMENTOS
Nunca es demasiado tarde. Si siente la necesidad
de arreglar su vida ante de Dios y quiere acercarse

Lectio Divina 4 STEPS: READ, MEDITATE,
PRAY, CONTEMPLATE
Step 1: READ: What does the Biblical Text Say? At the
most basic level: What is going on in this Scriptural passage? You have to identify a WORD, PHRASE, IDEA that
touches your heart….that the Lord places in your
heart….. INTERNALIZE: repeat the word or phrase either out loud or in your heart.
Step 2: MEDITATE: What is Jesus saying to me personally through this Scripture Text? What does God
want me to know or see through this Scripture?
Text. How does this text speak to my experience in life?
Step 3: PRAY: My Lord has spoken to me in the Scriptural Text: What do I want to say back to him in Prayer?
Step 4: CONTEMPLATE / ACT: As a result of my
prayer, what is Jesus calling me to DO (this week) as a
result of this process? Finally, our prayer calls us to action ultimately to be more compassionate and faithful.
GOSPEL FOR THE SIXTEENTH SUNDAY ORDINARY TIME
M T 1 3 : 2 4 - 3 0 Jesus proposed another parable to the
crowds, saying: “The kingdom of heaven may be likened to
a man who sowed good seed in his field. While everyone
was asleep his enemy came and sowed weeds all through
the wheat, and then went off. When the crop grew and bore
fruit, the weeds appeared as well. The slaves of the householder came to him and said, ‘Master, did you not sow good
seed in your field? Where have the weeds come from?’ He
answered, ‘An enemy has done this.’ His slaves said to him,
‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’
He replied, ‘No, if you pull up the weeds you might uproot
the wheat along with them. Let them grow together until
harvest; then at harvest time I will say to the harvesters,
“First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles for burning;
but gather the wheat into my barn.”’
Commentary / Exegesis: Today’s readings tell us about a
very patient and compassionate God who is hopeful that the
so called “weeds” among us will be converted and that we
should not be in a hurry to eliminate such elements from the
Church or society or the family on the basis of unwarranted
and hasty judgment.
Finally in the Gospel parable of the
wheat and the weeds Jesus assures us that we are the field
of God. We are the ground He works as well as the plants
He nurtures. We are the people he rests His hopes upon
and the folk He plants His seed in. We are the congregation
He anoints with his Spirit. In today’s parable Jesus presents
a wise and patient God who allows the good and the evil to
coexist in the world so that the evil ones may come to conversion before their time ends and He must punish them.
"Let the seed and the darnel grow together till the harvest
time". In other words, God awaits repentant sinners, giving
them the strength to acknowledge their weakness. God
calmly recognizes that there is evil in the world, but sees
that evil as no excuse for the good people not to do good,
with God’s power at their disposal. Through the parable of
the wheat and the weeds in today’s gospel, Jesus calls us to
be patient with those who fail to meet the high ethical standard
expected of a Christian. The weeds among the wheat in the
parable are a variety of tares known as “bearded darnel." They resemble wheat plants so closely that it is impossible to distinguish the one from the other until the ears of seed
appear. By that time the wheat and darnel roots are so intertwined that the tares cannot be weeded out without plucking
the wheat out with them. At the end of the harvest the
tares must be removed from wheat by hand, because they
are slightly poisonous. Sowing them in the wheat field was a
crude way for an enemy to take revenge on a farmer.
Why we should not treat others as "weeds:" The parable hints
at why we should not treat others as "weeds," i.e. evil or
wicked. 1) Each one of us is a combination of wheat and
weeds. In each of us there are elements of the Kingdom of
God and elements that are deeply opposed to it. Even Paul
recognized that struggle within himself (cf. Romans 7:21-25).
God told Paul that it was precisely through his weaknesses
that He could reveal His glory. "My power is made perfect in
[your] weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9). Relying on the power
of God, we, too, must learn to be tolerant of the evil ones. 2)
The time for judgment is not yet come because the Kingdom
of God is still in the growing stage. Now is the time to expect
conversion because with the help of God’s grace, sinners can
change. 3) Another reason why we should avoid judgment is
that we cannot draw a line which would neatly separate the
good from the bad because everyone is a mixture of good and
evil. Here is Karl Rahner’s piece of advice to enthusiastic
weed- gatherers, "The number-one cause of atheism is Christians themselves. What an unbelieving world finds simply
unbelievable is the presence of those who proclaim God with
their mouths and deny Him with their lifestyles. Perhaps, the
best defense of God would be to just keep our mouths shut
and to live as He told us to. The gospel would then have such
a power and attraction that we wouldn't have to worry about
defending it.”
Chance of conversion and the need for Christ’s mind: This
parable indicates that there will be a separation of weeds and
wheat, good and bad fish (13:47-50), sheep and goats (25:3146). But this "harvest" will take place on God's time-table not
ours. Hence, instead of asking the question why God allows
evil to exist (terrorists, criminals, diseases, hurricanes, etc.),
let us ask what God expects from us. God wants us to take a
good look into the field of our own lives to see what is growing
there. Let us work with Him to pull out the “weeds" in our own
personalities. Then we need to start treating the so called
"evil ones” as Christ did. Why did he not weed out Judas who
betrayed him, or Peter, who denied him? Jesus saw the
weeds in their lives, but he saw also saw the wheat. He knew
that with encouragement the wheat would prevail. And it did.

LECTIO DIVINA: 4 PASOS: LEER, MEDITAR, ORAR,
CONTEMPLAR
Paso 1: LEER: ¿Qué dice el texto bíblico? En el nivel más
básico: ¿Qué está pasando en este pasaje bíblico? Usted
tiene que identificar una PALABRA, FRASE, IDEA que toca
su corazón…..que el Señor pone en tu corazón….. INTERNALIZAR: repetir la palabra o frase en voz alta o en su corazón.
Paso 2: MEDITAR: ¿Qué me está diciendo personalmente
Jesús a través del texto de la Escritura?
Paso 3: ORAR: Mi Señor me ha hablado en el texto Bíblico: ¿Qué es lo que le quiero decir a Dios en oración?
Paso 4: CONTEMPLAR/ACTUAR: Como resultado de mi
oración, ¿A qué Jesús me está llamando HACER (esta semana) como resultado de este proceso? Por último, nuestra
oración nos invita a la acción, en definitiva, a ser más compasivo y fiel.

Mateo 13:24-30 Parábola del Trigo y la Cizaña Jesús
les contó otra parábola: “El reino de los cielos puede compararse a un hombre que sembró buena semilla en su
campo. Pero mientras los hombres dormían, vino su enemigo y sembró cizaña entre el trigo, y se fue. Cuando el
trigo brotó y produjo grano, entonces apareció también la
cizaña. Y los siervos del dueño fueron y le dijeron: ‘Señor,
¿no sembró usted buena semilla en su campo? ¿Cómo,
pues, tiene cizaña?’ Él les dijo: ‘Un enemigo ha hecho esto.’ Y los siervos le dijeron: ‘¿Quiere, usted, que vayamos
y la recojamos?’ Pero él dijo: ‘No, no sea que al recoger la
cizaña, arranquen el trigo junto con ella. Dejen que ambos
crezcan juntos hasta la cosecha; y al tiempo de la cosecha
diré a los segadores: “Recojan primero la cizaña y átenla
en manojos para quemarla, pero el trigo recójanlo en mi
granero.”’”
Comentario / Exégesis: Las lecturas de hoy nos hablan
de un Dios muy paciente y compasivo que tiene la esperanza de que las llamadas "malas hierbas" entre nosotros
se convertirán y que no hay que tener prisa para eliminar
tales elementos de la Iglesia o de la sociedad o la familia
sobre la base del juicio injustificado y apresurado. Finalmente, en la parábola evangélica del trigo y la cizaña
Jesús nos asegura que somos el campo de Dios. Somos
la tierra Él trabaja, así como las plantas que EL nutre. Somos el pueblo que descansa sus esperanzas en la gente y
él planta sus semillas. Somos la congregación Él unge con
su Espíritu. En la parábola de hoy Jesús presenta a un
Dios sabio y paciente que permite que el bien y el mal conviven en el mundo para que los malos pueden llegar a la
conversión antes de que termine su tiempo y Él deberá
castigarlos. "Que la semilla y la cizaña crezcan juntos hasta el tiempo de la cosecha". En otras palabras, Dios espera
a los pecadores arrepentidos, dándoles la fuerza para reconocer su debilidad. Dios reconoce con calma que hay
mal en el mundo, pero ve que no hay excusa para que la
buena gente no pueda hacer el bien, con el poder de Dios
a su disposición. A través de la parábola del trigo y la cizaña en el evangelio de hoy, Jesús nos llama a ser paciente
con los que no cumplen con el alto estándar de ética que
se espera de un cristiano. Las malas hierbas entre el
trigo de la parábola son una variedad de taras conocidas
como "cizaña." Se parecen a las plantas de trigo que es
imposible distinguir el uno del otro hasta que aparezcan
los oídos de semillas. Por aquel tiempo el trigo y las raíces de las cizañas están tan entrelazados que la cizaña
no puede ser eliminada sin depilarse el trigo con ellos. Al
final de la cosecha las cizañas deben ser removidas del
trigo a mano, ya que son ligeramente tóxicos. Sembrándolos en el campo de trigo era un manera cruel de un
enemigo para vengarse de un granjero. ¿Por qué no debemos tratar a los demás como "malas hierbas:" La
parábola apunta a por qué no debemos tratar a los demás como "malas hierbas", es decir, los malos o perversos. 1) Cada uno de nosotros es una combinación de
trigo y las malas hierbas. En cada uno de nosotros hay
elementos del reino de Dios y los elementos que están
profundamente opuestos a ella. Incluso Pablo reconoció
que la lucha dentro de sí mismo (cf. Romanos 7:21-25).
Dios le dijo a Pablo que fue precisamente a través de
sus puntos débiles que Él pudo revelar su gloria. "Mi poder se perfecciona en [su] la debilidad" (2 Corintios
12:09). Confiando en el poder de Dios, también nosotros
debemos aprender a ser tolerantes con los malvados. 2)
El tiempo del juicio aún no ha llegado, porque el Reino
de Dios está todavía en la etapa de crecimiento. Ahora
es el momento de esperar la conversión, ya que con la
ayuda de la gracia de Dios, los pecadores pueden cambiar. 3) Otra de las razones por las que debemos evitar
el juicio es que no podemos trazar una línea que separe
claramente lo bueno de lo malo, porque todo el mundo
es una mezcla de bien y mal. Aquí está el artículo de
Karl Rahner de asesoramiento a las malezasrecolectores entusiastas, "La causa número uno del
ateísmo es los mismos cristianos. ¡Qué en un mundo
incrédulo se encuentra simplemente increíble la presencia de los que proclaman a Dios con sus bocas y lo niegan con sus estilos de vida. Tal vez, la mejor defensa de
Dios sería sólo para mantener la boca cerrada y vivir como Él nos dijo. El evangelio entonces tendría tal poder y
atracción que no tendríamos que preocuparnos por defenderla”. Posibilidad de conversión y la necesidad de
que la mente de Cristo: Esta parábola indica que habrá
una separación de las malas hierbas y el trigo, pescados
buenos y malos (13:47-50), ovinos y caprinos (25:31-46).
Pero esta "cosecha" se llevará a cabo en el tiempo de
Dios no en el nuestro. Por lo tanto, en lugar de hacer la
pregunta por qué Dios permite que el mal exista
(terroristas, criminales, enfermedades, huracanes, etc),
pidamos lo que Dios espera de nosotros. Dios quiere que
tomemos una buena mirada en el campo de nuestras
propias vidas para ver lo que está creciendo allí. Vamos
a trabajar con él para sacar las "malas hierbas" en nuestras propias personalidades. Entonces tenemos que empezar a tratar a los llamados "malos" como lo hizo Cristo.
¿Por qué no eliminar a Judas, que lo entrego, o a Pedro,
que lo negó? Jesús, vio las malas hierbas en sus vidas,
pero vio también al trigo. Sabía que con el estímulo del
trigo prevalecería. Y así fue. "Incluso el hombre más
honesto ha robado algo en su vida, pero esto no significa
que todas las personas son ladrones” (Dostoievski)
