Root 70 is Nils` classic jazz quartet. The four musicians from
Germany and New Zealand promise an intercontinantal listening experience. New York, choosen home of drummer Jochen
Rueckert and bassplayer Matt Penman is just as important
and aurable as Europe for saxplayer and worldtraveller
Hayden Chisholm.
Nils Wograms most traditional band. A burning hammond trio.
Music based on the jazz from the 5oies and 60ies. One can
expect an exciting performance that brings bluesy, romantic,
bizarre and funny moments to the audience.
Wogram and his musicians move with energie, humor and joy on
the exiting eges of mainstream jazz. Crescendo
Taking Jazz as a basic fundament Root 70 also dicovers and
uses other musical influences as folk and new streams in
popular music. A firework of advanced rythmical and melodic
concepts.
«The tromboneplayer goes his own way although some of his fans
see him as the ultimate follower of Albert Mangelsdorff»
Der Spiegel
«If you’ve been wondering about the state of young, contemporary European jazz talent recently, look no further - and enjoy!»
British Jazz Journal
«Wogram is one of the most technically advanced trombonists of
any genre. When he lets loose his super-human abilities are something to marvel at, as the trombonist lashes out with a speed and
facility rarely seen on the instrument.»
All about music guide
«This music is brilliantly executed, bursting with wit. Root 70
illustrates how traditions can be both respected and resoundingly
transgressed.» John Kennedy, Jazzmagazin

Simon Nabatov, Piano
Nils Wogram, Trombone
Claudio Puntin, Clarinet
Tilman Ehrhorn, Tenorsax
Stephan Meinberg, Trumpet
Steffen Schorn, Bassclarinet
Frank Speer, Altosax
John Schröder, Drums
Nils Wogram, Trombone
Nils Wograms smallets and most eclectic band. It brings together two musicians who`s roots are equaly in composed and
improvised music. Nabatov and Wogram seem to have no stylistic, compositional and technical limits. Their wide musical
horizon enables them to merge various musical styles. With
easiness and a sence of humor one can feel an enormous joy
of playing. The surprising musical changes require the listerns
attention constantly. Like this the music grows to a brilliant
listening expirience.
«A breathtaking duo» Aachener Zeitung
«This album lives of contrasting moments witch`s contents can`t
be brought down to a common denominator. It can be nostalgic
and old fashioned but in the next second minimalistic and introverted and the duo feed each other lines.» Jazzthetik {about «the

Nils Wograms largest band. It features his compositional and
arranging concepts. This septet unites some of the best and
unique german improvisers and instrumentalists. Nils Wogram`s compositions are well shaped with long composed sections but also leave much space for improvisations. Through the
unordenary setup without bass and harmonie instruments.
The sound is very transparent and traditional rollmodels are
beeing mixed in different new ways.
This septet sometimes reminds of the warm of Gil Evans as
well as the wild energy of the late Charles Mingus. Other musical influences like balkan folk filmmusic and new composed
music can be found, too.
«With this ensemble the composer gets astonishing colours:
seductive blending-sounds, ellingtonesque jungle sounds and overall touching sensuality. That is powerful and intelligent. It roots
in the jazztradition but is free of sentimentality.»
