CHAMPIONSHIP REGULATION
1. INVITATION
The Argentinian Association of Squash Rackets, the Squash Association of Chaco and
the Organization Commission, have the pleasure of inviting all the worldwide players
under 19, to participate in the 1st REGATAS JUNIOR SQAUSH OPEN
CHAMPIONSHIP (TIER3) which will take place in Resistencia City, capitol of
Chaco Province in Argentina from the19th to the 22nd of September 2013.
This invitation is for players only, but for families and sport fans as well who would
like to enjoy the best junior Squash of the world and support the growth of this sport in
such a particular year when it is about to become an Olympic Sport.
The main aim is to promote the abolition of segregation among young people, coaches
and representatives of all the countries involved, and to put an international event in the
calendar of Junior Competitions, which will give credit for the WSF ranking. We hope
to contribute to the growth and promotion of the Squash and to the consolidation of the
sport as an Olympic discipline as well.
2. LOCATION AND DATE
The location of the tournament will be the Resistencia Regatas Sport Centre, located on
1080 Avalos Avenue in Resistencia Chaco, Argentina. The Sport Centre offers
complete services, a restaurant, gym, dressing rooms and also has 5 single courts and 1
double, all brand new and in the best conditions. The event will be from 9am of the 19th
September to 3pm of the 22nd September.
3. CATEGORIES
The tournament categories are as follows:
• Male: Under 11, Under 13, Under 15, Under 17 and Under 19 years old.
• Female: Under 11, Under 13, Under 15, Under 17 and Under 19 years old.
• Doubles: Male, Female and Mixed.
The categories above mentioned will take place as long as they have 4 players already
enrolled at the enrollment closing date. The Double categories will not gain score for
the WSF ranking and the players who are willing to participate must be at least 15 years
old by the first day of the tournament.
4. QUALIFITATION:
Worldwide players can participate who are under-19 years old up to the 22nd September
2013. WSF membership is not necessary to participate, although they must be members
of their home countries associations or league.
Those players who wish to participate in the Doubles Categories must be at least 15
years old by the beginning of the tournament.
5. REGISTRATION:
All players who are willing to participate must apply to the National Squash Authority
of their home country sending an email to [email protected] asking for
the application form attached, which should be received by the organizing authorities
by 31st August 2013 at 10pm(local time).
The enrollments are limited to 24 players for each category. The players can only enroll
in one Single Category and one Double.
At the moment of accreditation the delegacies must have IDs or passport of all the
players, who must complete this requirement with no exception before the first match.
The enrollment fee for all the players will be USD 250 (two hundred and fifty United
States Dollars) for foreign players, and $300 (three hundred Argentine Pesos) for local
players. The fee includes:

Transport of the players from the airport to the hotel and back to the airport on
arrival and departure days.
Transport from the hotel to the Sports Center and back to the hotel every day of
the competition.
Accommodation from 18th to 22nd September.
Hotel breakfast from the 19th to 22nd September.

Other attendants of each delegacy must separately pay their stay during the event for
which they must contact the organization authority for the different fees. However, each
foreign official delegacy has access to include 1 (one) companion every 5 (five)
enrolled players, free of charge.
All the enrollments must be paid to the organizer in Argentine Pesos (local players) or
in United States Dollars (foreign players) at the moment of the Technical Conference,
on 18th September 2013. Those who wish to bank transfer the enrollment fee must do it

The enrollment payments are unavoidable requirements at the moment of the beginning
of the Technical Conference.
The delegacies that need to arrive before the 18th September or departure after the 22nd
September must inform the organizer not less than 1(one) week ahead of the 18th
September. All the extra-day delegacies and players accommodation expenses must be
paid to the organizer on the arrival day.
Those confirmed players who do not attend to the event must pay the 40% of the
enrollment, corresponding to the participation logistic.
6.
PLAYER CERTIFICATION
The players’ certifications will take place the 18th September 2013 at the Regatas Sport
Center from 4pm to 7pm, when those legacies who still have not done it, must pay the
organizer the corresponding enrollment fees for their players.
Afterwards, the organizer will hand out the accommodation and courtesy dinner vouchers.
7. TECHNICAL CONFERENCE
The technical Conference will take place at the Regatas Sports Center, location of the
event, the 18th September at 7pm. Each delegacy has the right to participate with up to 2
(two) agents each. The preliminary agenda of the conference is as follows:

The tournament General Referee will set the schedules of the matches and can may
modify them, informing at least 3 (three) hours before.
All the players must be available to play their matches at the programmed schedules
and will have 15 minutes of tolerance, after this the referee may enforce “walk over”.
9. MEDALS
The event organizer will grant to all the categories the following prizes:

2nd Place: Silver Medal + Certificate.
3rd Place: Bronze Medal + Certificate.
4th Place: Bronze Medal + Certificate.
In addition, the organizer will deliver Participation Medals and Certificates to all the
participants.
10. ARBITRATION
The event will provide trained and qualified referees for the matches. Although
according to the amount of matches, the most experienced players will be called out by
the organizer to perform as referees.
In addition, it is expected that the younger players collaborate as “markers”.
11. OFFICIAL BALL
The official ball of the tournament will be Dunlop, double yellow-dot squash ball.
12. SAFEETY ELEMENTS AND UNIFORMS
Eye protection (goggles) is obligatory for all the players of the tournament as an
unavoidable requirement to enter the courts, not only during the matches but also during
the practice, warm-up routines and any other activity which involves racket and ball
usage.
All players must wear appropriate sport clothing. In the case of doubles, couples must
wear same colors.
13. OFFICIAL SITE
The event organizer will have an official site for the championship:
www.squashspot.com . There, there will be all the matches and useful information
about the tournament.
14. COMPETITION SYSTEM
All categories competition system are divided into 2 (two) phases. The first phase will
be of Groups and a second phase of Keys. On the first classification phase, the players
will play against each other in groups of 3, 4 or 5 players by group. On the second
phase, all the players will play matches by keys for eliminations.
For all matters during the event, a Technical Committee will be built, formed by 4
agents from different countries (one for each country) and the General Tournament
Referee. This committee will be nominated at the Technical Conference by the
participant votes.
14.1. PHASE OF GROUPS
At this point, the matches will be played to the best of 3 (three) matches of 11
(eleven) points. The 2 (two) best of each group will classify to play at the second
phase.
The groups assemble criteria will be:
• 4 players: 1 group of 4 players.
• 5 players: 1 group of 5 players.
• 6 players: 2 groups of 3 players each.
• 7 players: 1 group of 3 players and 1 group of 4 players.
• 8 players: 2 groups of 4 players.
• 9 players: 3 groups of 3 players each.
• 10 players: 2 groups of 3 players and 1 group of 4 players.

11 players: 1 group of 3 players and 2 groups of 4 players.
12 players: 4 group of 3 players each.
13 players: 3 groups of 3 players and 1 group of 4 players.
14 players: 2 groups of 3 players and 2 groups of 4 players.
15 players: 5 groups of 3 players each.
16 players: 4 groups of 3 players and 1 group of 4 players.
17 players: 3 groups of 3 players and 2 groups of 4 players.
18 players: 6 groups of 3 players each.
19 players: 5 groups of 3 players and 1 group of 4 players.
20 players: 4 groups of 3 players and 2 groups of 4 players.
21 players: 7 groups of 3 players each.
22 players: 6 groups of 3 players and 1 group of 4 players.
23 players: 5 groups of 3 players and 2 groups of 4 players.
24 players: 8 groups of 3 players each.
When a category has groups of 3 and 4 players, the first groups (group 1, group
2, etc) will be of 3 (three) players.
Seed and Draw Criteria
At the group phase of each category, 1 player will be seed on each group and
the rest of the players will be drawn to form the groups. The seed player will
have the best ranking according to the following criteria:

1st Level: WSF ranking up to the 1st July of the year when the event
takes place.
2nd Level: Champion and Second Place of the FPS up to the finalization
of the Pan-American played before the event.
3rd Level: South American Confederation Squash Ranking up to the
finalization of the last South American Tournament played before this
event.
4th Level: will be solved by the Technical Tournament Committee.
The seed and draw of the group phases will take place during the Technical
Conference and they will be determined by the number of enrolled players.
During the seed and draw, not grouping people from the same country will be
taken in consideration.
14.2.PHASE OF KEYS
In the phase of Keys, the matches will be played to the best of 5 matches of 11
points, under the single elimination regulation.
Seed and Draw Criteria
At the key strategy of each category the most qualified player of each group will
be “planted” according to the following criteria:
• The best qualified of Group 1 will be the Seed 1.
• The best qualified of Group 2 will be the Seed 2.
• The best qualified of Group 3 will be the Seed 3.
• The best qualified of Group 4 will be the Seed 4.
• The best qualified of Group 5 will be the Seed 5.
• The best qualified of Group 6 will be the Seed 6.
• The best qualified of Group 7 will be the Seed 7.
• The best qualified of Group 8 will be the Seed 8.
Once all the matches of the phase of groups are finished, in case of a tie match
among 2 (two) or more players of a same group, the following criteria will be
used:
•

In a two players tie match, they will break the tie with the result of the
played match against each other in the group.
In a three or more players tie match, they will break the tie in the 1st Level
of won matches, in the 2nd Level by match differences, in the 3rd Level
from the difference of points and in the 4th Level by drawing.
To set the places of the “seed” players in the “key” of each category, taking as
reference a key of 8 positions, it will be taken in consideration from top to bottom
the following criteria: 1 vs 8, 5 vs 4, 3 vs 6 and 7 vs 2.
The “seed” players 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 and 7 / 8 will draw their places to determinate who
will occupy the superior position and who will take the lower position on each
key, following the example of an 8 position key.
The rest of the classification of each group will complete their positions on the
keys by a draw and they will enter into the available places of each key from the
back and frontwards, the first to be drawn will enter in the position 8, the second in
the position 7, the third in the position 6 and so on.
The drawn and seed of the phase of the keys will take place at the Technical
Conference once they have finished all the first phase matches on day, time and
place to confirm.
15. TRANSPORT:
All the players who arrive to Resistencia by plane or bus will be received at the airport
or the bus station and properly transported to the tournament hotel.
The organization will daily provide transport to the hotel, to the sport center and back to
the hotel to the players based on a schedule which will be delivered to the delegacies at
the moment of registration.
16. ACCOMMODATION
The enrollment payment includes complete accommodation during the tournament
days. The 18th September will be the check in, and the 22nd September 2013 will be the
check out.

17. MEALS
Breakfast is included in the enrollment cost and will be served at the hotel where the
players stay. Lunch, dinner and other snacks will be on players.
On Saturday 21st night, the Courtesy Dinner will take place for all delegacies.
18. REVIEW OF RESISTENCIA CITY
The city of Resistencia is the Capitol of Chaco Province, located in the northeastern
part of Argentina. Its population raises up to 450.000 inhabitants and it is a typical
northern city: safe, quiet and warm. You can access by plane via Buenos Aires from
where there are daily one hour and twenty minutes flights with convenient prices (with
spare time, people may get discounts on the site www.despegar.com ) or arrive to the
airport of Corrientes City, only 20 km away from Resistencia where daily flights from
Buenos Aires arrive. Other alternative is to fly to the City of Asuncion, Paraguay and
from there, take a bus to Resistencia; it is about 320 km away and it is a five hour trip.

19. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS
The tournament results will be informed to the WSF, who will incorporate the players’
scores to the worldwide ranking.
I OPEN ARGENTINA JUNIOR of Squash plays under the rules and regulations
established by the WSF and their annexes incorporated by the Argentinian Squash
Association. Any unpredicted technical situation will be solved by the Technical
Committee. Any unpredicted technical situation will be solved by the Organizer
