TheHeadCoachisresponsiblefordeveloping,implementingandevaluatingthetechnical,tacticalandphysicalcurriculum
whichpreparesthestudentathleteforsuccessfulcompetitionwithintheOntarioCollegesAthleticAssociation(OCAA)and
theCanadianCollegiateAthleticAssociation.Thisisapart-timepositionwhichrequiressomeweekdaydaytimeand
eveninghours,aswellasweekends.
Duties: _______
♦ Developtheoverallathleticplans(longrangetodailypracticeplans)tomaximizeathleteandteamdevelopment
♦ Identificationandrecruitmentofqualitystudentathletes
♦ Mustsupportandmentorthevaluesofexcellenceinacademicsandathletics,characterdevelopmentand
leadership
♦ Maintaineffectivecommunicationsandadministrativesystemsamongstcoaches,players,athleticandfacilitystaff
♦ Mustworkcollaborativelyinalargeathleticsandrecreationdepartmentconsistingof17varsityprogramsand
extensiverecreationprogramming
♦ CompleteadherencetoandsupportofOCAA,CCAAandSenecapoliciesandprocedures
♦ Assistintheorganizationanddeliveryofacompetitiveclub/highschoolCrossCountryevent
♦ Supervisionofteamonallroadtrips
GeneralAspectsofSeneca’sProgram:

♦ ThecompetitiveseasonbeginsthesecondweekofAugustandrunsthroughtomiddleofNovember;with
ProvincialChampionshipsinlateOctoberandNationalChampionshipsinNovember.Theteampracticestwoto
threetimesaweek(1.5hours/practice)
♦ SenecacompetesatseveralOCAAsanctionedeventspriortotheOCAAChampionships(hostedbySenecain2016)
Supportpersonnelincludesaminimumof1-2assistantcoach(es)andateamtherapistwhoispresentat
competitions
♦ Additionalcommitmentduringwinterseason(JanuarytoMarch)atseveralindoorevents

andcoachingperformance
♦ Havegoodrelationswithhighschoolandclubtrackandfieldandcrosscountrycoachesforthepurposeof
recruitment
♦ Haveaminimumoffiveyearsofcoachingexperiencewith16to25yearolds
♦ Hold,orbeworkingtowards,AthleticsCanadaNCCPcertification
♦ Haveexceptionalinterpersonalcommunicationskills,soundadministrativeskills,strongmotivationalabilitiesand
acommitmenttofairplay
♦ MustbeeligibletoworkinCanada
