The Convert 1590A arrayable loudspeaker is a powered,
multi-function system incorporating a series of
breakthrough features that offer an unmatched level of
versatility. The Convert 1590A features an innovative
system which provides user-definable dispersion
characteristics, allowing the system to be deployed as
either a curved source array or used individually as a
point source.
By virtue of their design, line array units have very
narrow dispersion on the coupling plane. This narrow
coverage drastically reduces their ability to be used as
individual units. In order to overcome this obstacle and
convert the narrow coverage needed for an array, to the
wider coverage needed to use the Convert 15A as an
individual unit, D.A.S. engineers developed the Digitally
Convertible DispersionTM (DCDTM), a proprietary signal
management interface. Complex signal processing via
DSP based on All-Pass filters provides the phase
differences required to broaden the coverage of the high
frequency way for use as a point source. By means of
the DCDTM, the dispersion on the coupling plane of the
Convert 15A can be switched from 20º to 40º.
Top-of-the-line AD/DA converters have been employed
allowing for significant improvements in dynamics, lower
distortion and ultra-low noise levels. Remote monitoring
and control is provided by way of DASnet™, the audio
management application for D.A.S. powered cabinets and
processors which offers users instant and intuitive view
of the system status as well as control over a range of
parameters of a single cabinet or a network of them.

NOTES. 1.Frequency response: referred to 1 m; low end obtained through the use of near field techniques;
one-third octave smoothed for correlation with human hearing. 5.Polars were acquired by placing the unit on
a computer controlled turntable inside our anechoic chamber. Measurement distance was 4 m.
