Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls!
On October 11, our adorable 2K-ers

National Young Readers Week
National Young Readers Week is an annual event celebrated by
schools across the country. The purpose of this week-long event is
to teach children to enjoy reading by example. When they see
someone they admire reading, it will encourage them to read for
enjoyment as well. Throughout the week, DCS Seniors will read to
students in grades 5K-2nd grade, and 5th and 6th graders will read to
our lower elementary students. A love for reading is a wonderful
quality, and our goal is to influence as many students as possible.
Takes place every Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in the
auditorium.

The WIGO
Florida Bandmasters Association, Solo and
Ensemble Performances at DCS
DCS is proud to host the FBA District 20 Solo and Ensemble
performances on Friday, November 15 and Saturday,
November 16, 2013. Hundreds of students from various schools
around the greater Miami area and the Keys will be
performing their selections. This is the first time in recent years
that DCS has received such an honor, and we are excited to
host this fantastic event that will feature some of the top music
students from around South Florida.
Over the last few years, DCS
students have consistently
received superior and
excellent ratings (the two
highest ratings possible) for
their excellent work and
performances at the FBA Solo
and Ensemble Music Festival.
Well done DCS!
