FLINTRIDGE PREP: THE CLOCK TOWER
FLINTRIDGE PREP: THE CLOCK TOWER IN CRISIS I have been the lone face of Prep for too long. This school needs a mascot. Meanwhile, back at the Bach Cave... Mr. Bachmann, this school needs a mascot! We are the Rebels without an image. I’ve searched the Great Books for years: Meditations on Lost Mascots; The Metaphysics of Mascots; Rebel Lost; Wherefore Art Thou Mascot? But I haven’t found any answers. Ask the alumni, the coaches, the kids. Bring me something that embodies the spirit of the whole community. Alumni, I’m on a mission. Prep needs a mascot. Should we keep the Rebel? What about using a lion or a wolf? Tradition! We have been the Rebels for as long as I can remember. Why change? Animals are overused. Lion and wolf mascots are a dime a dozen. Keep the Rebel human. We’re Rebels, so we should rebel against ideas that don’t work. Rebels stand apart and avoid herd mentality. They become leaders! Rebels tap into our very soul on and off the field. Bring back the Highlanders! Look for something that has not been done, that truly shows the incredible progress that Flintridge has achieved. Long live the Rebels! Rebels embody our spirit of independence and individuality. Thanks, everyone! Witty, but also honoring our past, you know? Prep, help us out. We need an iconic human to represent the Rebels. Any ideas? Paint a picture of something you can’t put your finger on: courage, ambition, community. Our new mascot should be strong and rugged. An independent thinker with the courage of conviction! Gritty. Frisky... and mischievous. Our mascot needs to be timeless—like a superhero! Prep, you are exemplary—some of the most gifted, independent and soulful folks around. Harness that Rebel spirit. Work together. Give us an iconic mascot that represents the Flintridge of the past, the present and most importantly, the future. R-R-R-E-B R-R-R-E-B R-E-B E-E-E-L-S E-E-E-L-S Gooooooo Rebels!
