1st Vandalia “Art Parked” Sculpture Exhibit 2015-16
The Public Art in Vandalia (PAIV) Committee and several community partners are excited to present
“Art Parked” 2015-16
a free outdoor sculpture exhibit on display through April, 2016 at Vandalia Art Park, 256 E. East Alkaline
Springs Road. PAIV worked with Midwest Sculpture Initiative (MSI) to provide the seven sculptures for this
year-long innovative exhibit. The leased pieces join “At Play in Geologic Time” by Matthew Weir, a permanent
limestone piece created during Vandalia’s “Chiseled” 2010 Sculpture Symposium ---as well as the park’s
entryway Mosaic Totem crafted by community members in early 2015.
Special events and programming will take place highlighting the Vandalia Art Park installations throughout
the year. Stay informed by “liking” Vandalia Arts Community on Facebook or checking in at
www.vandaliaperfectfit.com.
To partner in future art projects, call Candice Farst, (937) 898-5891.
Do you see a sculpture you would like to own? The seven MSI pieces are for sale and a portion of each sale will
go toward funding of future exhibits. Contact MSI for more information, 517-486-4591.
MSI's mission is to provide outdoor sculpture exhibitions throughout the Midwest, promote cooperation among art and civic organizations, advance the role that the visual arts play in the quality of life and increase economic development . The new Vandalia Art Park will serve as an 8-acre walkable art

The Vandalia Rotary Bridge,
added in 2014, joins the art
park with the VB Historical
Society grounds and enhances
the area as a culture and
history destination.
Vandalia Mosaic Totem Project—2015
The Mosaic Totem community art project was
sponsored by the Public Art in Vandalia
(PAIV) Program. Twenty volunteers met
weekly to design, assemble, affix and grout
these individual works of mosaic art. Each
unique cylinder has been stacked together
to form the two totem poles that welcome visitors to Vandalia Art Park. The totems represent the rich community
involvement and diversity envisioned for the park.
Vandalia Cultural Art 2015 Changeable Art Exhibit “AWalk Through Time”
“A Walk Through Time,” a collection of 12 historic photographs depicting early Vandalia, is sponsored by the
Vandalia Cultural Arts Program.
The display is supported by the VandaliaButler Historical Society and celebrates the
partnership between the two uniquely
distinct properties—A regional destination
combining art, history and recreation. This
photography exhibit will change on an
annual basis to encourage community
involvement.
A Mandala, designed by local artist Chad Wells, was distributed to area young people for their artistic coloring.
Finished pieces will be affixed to the backs of the historical photographs for a long as conditions allow.
