IMAGINE RAWDON 2030 – CHAPTER 2
A RESOUNDING SUCCESS
The evening meeting on September 28th was a
resounding success. In total, approximately 100
people were in attendance and we sincerely thank
them for their participation. The citizens of Rawdon
expressed themselves and their comments and
suggestions will be considered during the analysis
of the development of a strategic plan. In addition,
the "vision, mission and values" will be formalized at
the launch of the action plan. Stay tuned.

THANKS TO THREE OF RAWDON’S CITIZENS
The Council would like to thank Steve Beaulac, Martin Guénette and Christopher
Doucet for coming to the aid of a person in distress at des Cascades Park on
July 5th. During the September 8th Council
meeting, Mr. Philippe Demers of the
Sûreté du Québec awarded them each a
certificate to commemorate their actions.

SIGNING OF THE RAWDON FIREFIGHTERS’ COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT
On September 9th, the Municipality of Rawdon and the Québec Firefighters’
Union, Rawdon Local, signed the collective agreement ending on December 31st
2018. The two parties will meet on a regular basis to facilitate the application of
the agreement.
HEALTHY LIFESTYLE CAPSULE
As part of the implementation of the new Healthy Lifestyle Policy, the Municipality has:
- Banned the sale of energy drinks in all municipal facilities.
- Installed posters in several municipal buildings that suggest exercises that
can be done during the day that only take a few minutes as well as healthy
eating tips.
NEW DISPLAY SCREENS
Thanks go out to Mr. Murray Marlin, owner of Marlin’s Garage on the corner of 4th Avenue
and Queen Street, who graciously agreed to allow the Municipality to use a part of his
commercial property for the upcoming installation of one of two display screens. These
screens will be used to convey municipal information as well as upcoming municipal
activities. Coming soon!

AUTUMN PROPERTY MAINTENANCE
Here are a few details on how to dispose of your bulky items, your household and garden waste as well as a reminder to
have your septic tank emptied.
EMPTYING YOUR SEPTIC TANK
Under by-law 1011, your septic tank must be emptied every two years. Some exceptions apply.
The role of the septic tank is to retain sludge and scum so they do not clog the tile field. Studies have shown that emptying
your septic tank every two years is sufficient to ensure the proper functioning of your septic system.
Recently, the Municipality sent citizens a reminder that it is required to empty their septic tanks. If your tank was emptied
in or before 2013, you must have it emptied this year and provide us with a copy of your bill by November 30th 2015.
BULKY ITEMS
Bulky items include all items that furnish a home but that do not fit into the green bin. They are picked up once a month,
free of charge. You must request this service by calling Compo Recycle ahead of time (450 882-9186, ext. 106). As pick-up day
for this collection may vary, we ask that you leave the items at the curb on the Monday morning of the appropriate week.
The next collections: weeks of November 1st and December 13th.
Before disposing of your old furniture and appliances why not give them a second chance? There are two organizations
that may accept them if they are still in good shape:
Saint-Vincent-de-Paul: 3759, Queen Street, 450 755-7753 or 450 834-4444
They will offer to come and pick them up.
Call them!
Comptoir familial de Rawdon: 3625, Queen Street, local 2, 450-834-4911
HAZARDOUS HOUSEHOLD WASTE (HHW)
HHW includes many common household products. Products that fall into the HHW category are easily identified by the
following symbols:
You can bring your HHW to 2101 Adélaïde Street,
on October 23rd from 10 am to 4 pm.
FALLEN LEAVES
There will be a special collection by Compo Recycle during the week of October 25th. As pick-up day may vary,
please place your orange and transparent bags at the curb on the Monday morning of that week. Please
note that it is not permitted to burn fallen leaves.
BRANCHES
You can dispose of your branches by putting them to the curb alongside your household waste. They can be no more than
4 cm (1.5 inches) in diameter, 1 meter (3 feet) in length and tied up in bundles that can be picked up by one person. They are
also accepted, free of charge at the Écocentre (4 cm in diameter, any length). Larger branches, logs and stumps are
accepted as well but for a small fee. The Écocentre is open Tuesday through Saturday until October 31st. Starting
on November 1st, it will be open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Écocentre: 450 834-5065
