1. Overview
AllprogramsfortransmissionontheSonyPicturesNetworksIndiaPvt.Ltd.(“SPN”)HighDefinition(‘HD’)
channels are required to deliver to the specifications laid out in this document. It is essential that high
definitionprogramsfullymeetalltheSPNchannel’sbroadcastspecifications.
The SPN channels use of proprietary compression formats for Video & Audio encoding should not be
considered to be an endorsement of these products or that the implied compression techniques will
always be acceptable for program mastering. Video & Audio encoding should be used with care and
multi-generationcopyingshouldbeavoided.
AstheHDtechnologyisgrowingandchangingitisexpectedthatchangesandupdateswilloccurregularly
inthetechnicalspecificationdocument.

Videoacquisitionshouldbethroughacamerawithanativeresolutionof1920by1080pixelsandataframe
rateof25Framesinterlacedwith50fields.

4.3AudioPhase
Allaudiotracksmustberecordedwiththecorrecttechnicalphaserelationshipthroughouttheprogram,
includingthereferencetonesignalsrecordedforline-upbeforethestartoftheprogram.
Inparticularthestereotracksmustbefullymonocompatiblesuchthat,whenLeftandRightchannelsare
summedtoasinglemonotrack,thereisnosignificantchangetotheaudiolevelorfidelity.WhereaClean
EffectsorM&Emixissupplied,theelements,whicharecommontobothmixes,mustbeinphaseandata
similarlevel,soastoavoiddifficultieswitheditingormixingbetweenthesetracks.

3. Audio signal should not contain hum, distortion or sibilance. Wow or flutter should not be
objectionable.

buzz,distortion,wow,flutter,orexcessivesibilance).

• Soft copies of the synopsis & dialogues scripts to be provided to the Operations Department
separately.
Copyrightpermissionsshouldhavebeenobtainedforallmusictracks,archivalmaterialandstockfootage
used.Acopyofthelettershouldbesubmitted.
8. TechnicalRejectionPolicy:
• TC/QCokayedmastertobedeliveredminimum24hourspriortothetelecasttimeofeachsuch
episode.
• TC/QCisimportantandthe“intime”ofmasterswillbeconsideredonlywhenitisapprovedbyour
techteam.
• Apenaltyof25%oftheepisodicfeeshallbeleviedforfailuretodelivertelecastmastersofthe
Seriesatleasttwentyfour(24)hoursbeforethescheduledtelecastofsuchepisode.
• Penaltywaiversshallnotbeconsideredunderanycircumstances.
• Intheeventthedeliveryismadewithin6hoursbeforethescheduledtelecastthensuchepisodewill
beconsideredasarepeatepisodeandapenaltyof2timesoftheepisodicfeeswillbelevied.
• Thereshallbenotechnicalrejectionchargesforthefirsttechnicalrejectionofthemixedmasters.An
amountofRs.5,000/-(RupeesFiveThousandonly)wouldbedeductedoneveryrejection.
• IncasethecorrectionsofthemastershavetobedonebySPNteamduetoeitherlackof
time/inabilitytocorrectbytheproductionhouseachargeofRs.10000/-(RupeesTenThousandOnly)
shallbelevied.
