It is a privilege to get to attend the Changes of Watch. Each Squadron is related in purpose, but they express themselves differently. Cincinnati has the tradition of having a princess to reign during the Change of Watch. Dallas and Cathy’s two grandchildren are precious princesses. Hoosier has the best flag officer: Guy Waddy changes the flags with flair. Dayton’s Change of Watch is always elegant. Bluegrass is a close group but who scheduled the COW on the day that UK played? Evansville Bend had a lot to celebrate; both Janice Elwood and Sam Richey got their life member plaques. Wabash Valley waits until the Snow Birds come back from Florida. And then there is Louisville, my squadron, where I got the opportunity to swear in my commander, Faye Kugele. Cincinnati and Evansville Bend both had afternoon Changes of Watch and this gives the members who don’t drive at night an opportunity to come. I see differences in the traditions of each squadron, but I also see the similarities. We all love boating, and we all know the importance of education. Come to the rendezvous at Warsaw; come for the day or the weekend. Bring your boat or come and sit on the banks of the Ohio and enjoy the company of your fellow boaters. We will have a weather seminar and learn more about boating and we will have FUN! If you are interested in taking this seminar on Saturday, 1600—1800, be sure and indicate it on the reservation form. The instructors will be Susan Durstock and Kim Fisher. Cost is just $35.00. Suggested price is $65.00 and has been discounted for the rendezvous. See you on the river!
