60TH ANNUAL WORKING REPORT
We are extremely happy to present the descriptive 60th Annual Working
Report of the Samaj for the last one year.
We are very grateful for the unstinted support and cooperation extended
by the members of the Samaj, more specially the members of the
Managing Committee and Office Bearers which made the working of
the Samaj a success story and we extend our sincere thanks to all of
them.
Though there was a slight increase in the membership of the Samaj,
we are sorry to state that we do not get young members who can
devote time and to run the day to day affairs of the Samaj. Hence, we
request young members to come forward and be members of the
Managing Committee to run the affairs of the Samaj. Now it is all the
more necessary, since we have to develop our plot at Bangur Nagar
utilising their young talent and energy.
We have problem in reaching the communications of the Samaj to all
our members. The main reason being sometimes the permanent and
other times temporary dislocation of their addresses which is not
properly and timely intimated to the Samaj, resulting in the returning
of the letters and notices sent to them. We have been requesting
members repeatedly every year to notify the changes of addresses
but we are sorry, that it doesn’t happen.
As the revolution in information technology is happening everywhere,
we also should make use of very little of them. As a first step, we
request our members to send their mobile numbers and email addresses
to Samaj office so that faster communication can take place and lot of
money and time can be saved.
We are very much grieved to note the sad demise of Mr. C. A. Menon
and Mr. A. N. Hariharan who were actively working for the Samaj in
many capacities for decades, till their death. Along with them, we also

lost some of the life members of the Samaj, namely Smt. Karthiyayini programmes to great successes and we extend our heartiest thanks
Amma (Bangur Nagar), Mr. Aravindakshan (Tilak Nagar) and Mr. K. G. to all of them.
Varghese (Sree Nagar) and we pray Almighty God to rest their souls in
peace.
Samajam celebrated the 60th Annual Celebrations on 26th and 27th
of November, 2011 with all pomp to befit the Diamond Jubilee Event
Though we have a good collection of books in our library, both in at Gokul Park, Ayyappa Mandir Road, Bangur Nagar. On 26th
Malayalam and English, on different subjects, the lack of reading habits November, 2011, it was a cultural feast arranged and choreographed

In April 2011, Samajam conducted KERALOTSAVAM 2011, with great
success to celebrate the festivals of Vishu and Easter, by conducting
an exhibition and selling of Keralas delicious food items, followed by
a raffle in which many members got hundreds of prizes.
In September 2011, we conducted the great Onam Festival of
Malayalees in a very traditional way. Entertainment programmes were
conducted by Vanita Vibhagam and children of the Samaj members.
This was followed by a delicious Onam Sadya at Ayyappa Mandir
Hall which was a great success. For the above two programmes, the
members of the Samaj and Managing Committee and Vanita Vibhagam
lent their hardwork and support in many ways which enabled the
Samajam conducted this Diamond Jubilee Celebration by adopting the
latest technologies in new age stage, introducing colourful lighting
techniques and clear Dolby sound system. We express our thanks to Mr.
Sivadas of ZOLD MEDIA who made this latest stage decorations and light
and sound systems. Though it was a costly proposition compared to the
regular stage settings, Samaj takes pride in arranging the necessary
finances without touching the Samaj finance. For this great endeavour,
members of the Samaj and Managing Committee put in their hard work
with the sole aim of making the Diamond Jubilee Celebration a memorable
event in the history of Samaj. In this occasion, Samajam made a colourful
souvenir to mark the Diamond Jubilee which was released by Jagathy
Sreekumar.

This 60th Annual Celebration of the Samaj had a special purpose and that
is to introduce the St. Gregorios Cancer Research Centre coming up at
Parumala in Pathanamthitta District of Kerala which is stated to be the
biggest in Asia, to the Malayalees of Mumbai and Goregaon in particular.
We are highly indebted to the authorities of this great hospital for giving
us this opportunity. The generation of finance of the Samaj is limited, and
when we were given the above opportunity, the Managing Committee
decided to give a decent donation within the limits of the Samaj’s capacity.
After the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, the Managing Committee decided
to donate ` 50,000 as the contribution of the Samaj.
As all of you know, Tulsi Textorium initiated a scholarship from last
year for a boy and girl of the members of the Samaj who score maximum
marks in SSC exams. The owners of Tulsi Textorium gave away these
scholarships this year also for two students. We again repeat, the
children of the Samaj members who secure highest marks should give a
copy of the marksheet along with the original and membership details
of the parents to the Samaj office immediately after the publication of
the result.
During the 60th Annual Celebartion, the Samaj felicitated many social
workers and donors who are all our well-wishers.
The CRZ II clearance for the plot of the Samaj at Bangur Nagar is obtained
but the NOC from MOEF of Maharashtra Govt. is still awaited and we
thank Mrs. Ratna R. Pillai for pursuing this matter vigorously.
There are innumerable individuals and organisations who give us all types
of supports and cooperation in all our good endeavours by way of
donations and assistance directly or indirectly which are the main stay of
the existence and growth of the Samaj. The Managing Committee extends
their heartfelt gratitude to all of them and we are always indebted for
their good deeds. We continue to expect the same help and support from
all our well wishers in the years to come.

HAPPY NEWS TO OUR MEMBERS
In the 75 th Meeting of the Maharashtra Coastal Zone
M a n a g e m e n t A u t h o r i t y h e l d o n 1 5 th M a y 2 0 1 2 a t
Mantralaya, the application of Goregaon Malayalee Samaj
for NOC of MCZMA was taken up as 20 th agenda. Smt
Ratna Pillai and Architect Sri. Vilas Dixit represented the
S a m a j i n t h e m e e t i n g . M C Z M A a u t h o r i t y a ft e r t h e
discussion approved our application and has given the
NOC for constructing a School Building in our premises
(Plot No. 173, CTS No. 1054) as per our original
application. This glad news was informed to the President
Shri. K. Arvindakshan and Chairman Shri. N. Balagopal
by Smt. Pillai. This was later confirmed by the architect
Shri. Vilas Dixit to our President Shri. Arvindakshan over
phone. They also said that the minutes of the 75 th meeting
detailing the above subject will be up loaded in the Govt.
web site after few days. It is not yet uploaded as of now.
Once it is uploaded, the NOC will be confirmed and we
will get it in writing from the Authorities.
Since there is a time limit for the NOC, the construction of
the building has to be started within a stipulated period.
Further discussion on this subject can be held in the
ensuing Anuual General Body Meeting and a desirable
decision can be taken
