You will receive an exclusive set of 500 multiple-choice
questions (available for online access two weeks prior to the
start of the conference). This study tool references citations
from the most recent editions of popular surgical texts and
includes explanations beyond just a page reference.
Study Pearls Book
You will also receive the review book Study Pearls by
Drs. Widmann, Hardy and Jacob. This review book has been
updated and edited to focus on the topics most frequently
covered on surgical examinations. It includes techniques to
improve your skill in taking MCQ examinations, as well as
pointers on practical ways to remember facts and data by
emphasizing the understanding of some basic principles.
This book is not offered at any other surgical conference
and is not available in stores.
Plus, you will receive an illustrated and complete digital
syllabus (available online two weeks prior to conference for
downloading and on flash drive at the course) to reinforce
your learning and further aid you in exam preparation.
There are three evening sessions: Sunday night will include a
review on “How to Improve MCQ Scores and Exam-Taking
Skills,” and a 100-question review. Monday night’s schedule
includes “How to Pass the Certifying Exam (Oral Exam),”
followed by “Demonstrations: Mock Oral Examination.” There
will also be two optional sessions Monday evening for those
not actively preparing for exams, including “The Next Surgical
Frontier: Global Surgery” and “Medical Aspects of Presidential
Assassinations.” On Tuesday night, there will be an additional
100-question review.
Self Assessment
The New York General Surgery Board Review Course
provides up to 52 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ and selfassessment credits toward Part 2 of the American Board of
Surgery Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Program for
Physicians. In order to claim the self-assessment credits, you
