SHOWMANSHIP RULES
1. The animal must be the exhibitor’s project. The same project
animal must be used throughout the showmanship show.
2. First-Year Showmanship classes are for exhibitors 12 years
of age and younger as of January 1 of the current year with
no previous experience showing in that particular show of the
Coshocton County Junior Fair. (Sheep and calf lead classes
are not considered Junior Fair.)
3. Winners of previous showmanship classes advance to the
next age level.
4. Judging will be based on the following:
a. Knowledge of the project
b. Appearance of contestant and animal
c. Contestant’s ability to properly show animal
d. Sportsmanship of contestant in show ring
5. Age of exhibitor is his/her age on January 1 of current year.
6. Exhibitors 12 years and younger with no prior show experience in a species have the option of showing either in First Year
Showmanship OR with their age group. (They only show one
or the other, not both classes.)
7. Any showman awarded first place in Supreme Showmanship
may only show in the Supreme class thereafter, except horse,
goat and cat shows. Supreme participants who do not win
first will show in the next higher age DIVISION in the following
year’s fair.
KING AND QUEEN CONTEST
County Fair King and Queen are selected to reign over activities at the County Fair. Applications are available online at
www.coshoctoncountyfair.org after July 1. Applicants must be
a high school senior during the school year in which the fair
occurs and a member of a Coshocton County 4-H, FFA, Girl
Scouts, Boy Scouts, Junior Grange or Farm Bureau Youth.
After August 1, applicants need to contact the Fairboard Office
to schedule an interview time. Applications must be returned to
the Fairboard Office no later than August 17. Interviews will be
at the Fairboard Office by appointment only. Applicants will be
interviewed by a Senior Fairboard selected committee. Awards
provided for the King, Queen, and Court are sponsored by
Dee’s Gifts and Flowers, House of G.A. Fisher Jewelers, Liberty
Pottery, and Olde Warehouse Restaurant in Roscoe Village.
The Coshocton County Fair King and Queen are expected to
represent Coshocton County at various Ohio fairs and festivals.
The Queen will also represent Coshocton County at the Ohio
Fair Queen Contest in January during the Ohio Fair Managers’
Convention.
QUALITY ASSURANCE TRAINING REQUIREMENT
All Junior Fair exhibitors with market or breeding projects in the
Beef, Sheep, Swine, Dairy Cattle, Goats, Poultry, or Rabbits
must attend the Coshocton County Quality Assurance Meeting or a quality assurance training approved by the Coshocton
County Agricultural Society to enter the Junior Fair. Swine
exhibitors must attend a Pork Quality Assurance III Session.

Fitting, Breeding Classes, Beef Feeders, Dairy Feeders, 15
minute break, Market Heifers, Market Steers, Showmanship
and Old Timers Showmanship.
Junior Fair Beef Show and Dairy Show exhibitors have the
option to haul animals into the fairgrounds on Thursday evening
before the fair starting at 5 p.m.
