For many years I have been a beta tester for the panoramic digital photography system of BetterLight. We have
taken this camera all around Central America and also have
done panoramic photography in the Ozark Mountains of
Missouri.
In all these locations we have used the
Kart-a-Bag Kartmaster HD 500S as a table
for the computer. But in some locations we
can’t get such a large wheeled table into
place, or the ground level is too uneven. So
recently we have been using the Gitzo “Monitor
Platform,” G065, available from Bogen Imaging.
www.BogenImaging.com.
Bogen Imaging is the new name (since 2004) for
what photographers knew for decades as Bogen
Photo.

The Mac G3 “Wallstreet” laptop is comfortably and
securely on the Gitzo table-top tripod head, atop a Gitzo
carbon fiber tripod. I can’t see enough to know which
model (we have several).
A heavy Cambo Ultima
4x5 camera with a BetterLight scanning back is atop
a sturdy Gitzo Tele-Studex
tripod. This is the heavy
metal version that we have
had for about fifteen years.
In certain months the strong
winds can blow over a large
format camera since the
bellows acts like a sail. In this
kind of situation you want a
heavy tripod (such as this
Tele-Studex model of Gitzo).
We have a separate report on this tripod.

Panoramic view with the BetterLight Pano/WideView system: Lake Atitlan as seen from the Hotel Bella
Vista Sto. Tomas, Palapo area, Guatemala.
Hotel Villa Santa Catarina, on the shores of Lake Atitlan, Guatemala.
These are examples of the photos that resulted from using the tripod head computer table.

The Gitzo tripod head table for the computer is as practical inside as it is outside. Here we are using the
Leaf Valeo 22 medium format camera in the village museum of Copan Ruinas, Honduras.
We would recommend using Velcro straps to bind the computer to the table as a security
consideration to protect against accidents. You can buy Velcro in strips to use in this manner.
5.
Here in the village museum in Central America you can see the Macintosh Titanium being used
on the Gitzo tripod with the Gitzo table-top tripod head. If you want to be sure the tripod does not
get knocked over by someone tripping on one of the legs you could use the Gitzo Tele-Studex; this
tripod is heavy enough not to fall over. But since we had to carry all the equipment from Guatemala to
Honduras for a quick weekend of photography we opted to use a lightweight Gitzo carbon fiber tripod to
hold the table-top.
