Dairyfest 2015 will be presented throughout the
City, May 28-31. A weekend of activities will be
offered that is sure to please everyone.
The traditional events linked to Dairyfest are back
again including the carnival, Mayor’s breakfast,
parade, pie and ice cream social, picnic in the park,
arts and crafts show, and the Cheese Chase.

Breakfast will again be served by community volunteers from 5:30-9:30 A.M. in the Expo
Building at the fairgrounds. Cost is $6. Children 6 and under are free. All attendees will
receive the souvenir mug sponsored by A&B Process Systems, Dental Clinic of Marshfield,
H&S Manufacturing, Marshfield Clinic Health System, and Marshfield Utilities.
This 34-year old community tradition will offer a Movie in the Park at Columbia Park,
Chalk it Up downtown Marshfield, and the Vox Concert in Columbia Park, Kids Parade, in
addition to several new events. This year a softball tournament will take place at the Central Wisconsin State Fairgrounds, a skateboard competition will take place at the Marshfield
Skateboard Park. There will be a golf skills contest at Marshfield Country Club, and a State
Cornhole Tournament will be held in the Youth Hockey Building.
Food booths to tempt your taste buds, performance from the Main Street Conservatory of
Dance, and the Lip Sync Contest compliment Saturday afternoon.

PreventionGenetics Receives Governor’s Export
Achievement Award
Chippewa Valley Bean Company, Inc. Gamber-Johnson LLC and PreventionGenetics, LLC were the 2015 recipients of the Governor’s Export
Achievement Award, which recognizes their success in global business
development.
“These three businesses are among the thousands of Wisconsin companies
that have experienced significant growth after starting or expanding their exporting efforts,” Governonr Scott Walker said. “That focus on international
markets has resulted in the state reaching a new record for exporting in 2014
at $23.4 billion, which is up 18 percent over four years ago.”
The awards honor businesses that have achieved significant growth or implemented innovative strategies in exporting.
Nominees were evaluated on measurable export growth, innovation, and contributions to the state’s overall economy
and trade development.
PreventionGenetics of Marshfield, founded in 2004, provides clinical DNA tests for genetic germiline (inherited)
disorders. The company has the largest comprehensive menu of germline genetic testing of any company in North
America. To date, the company’s tests have been used in more than 70 countries around the globe. Since 2013, it’s

Nasonville Dairy Receives the Wisconsin Family Business of the Year Award,
“You Feta Believe”
Since its inception in 1885, Nasonville Dairy has grown to become a distinctive and successful family company
in Central Wisconsin. It continued as a family business when it was purchased by Arnold and Rena Heiman in
1965.
Today, three generations of the Heiman family work together to accomplish their number one goal...providing
high quality cheese to their customers. Currently, the business is run by Arnold and Rena’s sons: Ken, Kim and
Kelvin. Of the approximately 100 employees working in the business, 24 are family members.
Headquarted in Marshfield, Nasonville Dairy has grown impressively in the last few decades. In 1985, they
processed around eighty five hundred pounds of milk a day. Today, that number is one and a half million pounds
of milk processed per day, which they turn into one hundred and sixty thousand pounds of cheese...a day. Their
sales stand at around one hundred and sixty million dollars annually.
An interesting bit of Wisconsin trivia: twenty percent of the Feta cheese that is consumed in the United States
starts at Nasonville Dairy!
Owners, Ken, Kim, and Kelvin are heavily involved in the business. Their uniforms are not the business suits
one might expect from such a successful run business. Instead, they are usually found in their hair nets, white
shirts, and rubber boots.
They are leaders in their industries...Of the twelve hundred licensed cheesemakers in Wisconsin, just fifty-two of
them are Master Cheesemakers. One of those Master Cheesemakers is Ken Heiman.
The nominator stated “If you speak with the Heiman family, you will quickly learn that there is little difference
between their business and their family. Their humble and generous spirit, along with their outstanding work
ethic, are the reasons they are a great nominee for this award.”
The entire Heiman family has had played a large role in making Marshfield the bright and vibrant small town it
is today. The commitment the family has shown to the Marshfield community is impressive. Their philanthropic support, volunteer efforts, and generous spirit is overwhelming. They support the Marshfield Clinic and its
Research Foundation, the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge which provides lodging for cancer patients and
their caregivers, St. Joseph’s Hosptial, and the Children’s Miracle Network.
The judges commented on the strong commitment the family has to the community. But they were so impressed
with the production volume of Nasonville Feta Cheese, that they named this special award... “You Feta Believe.”

Auburndale Music Fest 2015
Three days of music, games and rides, softball and volleyball tournaments, plenty of food
and fun for all! This event is sponsored by the Auburndale Park Association and is held at
the Auburndale Village Park.
The 2015 dates for the Auburndale Music Fest are June 26th, 27th, and 28th. Events will
start Friday evening with softball and volleyball tournaments, and fireworks at dusk. We will
be having an old Car Cruise at 6 pm. The band Rattlesnake & Eggs is scheduled for Friday
night from 5:30 – 8:30, featuring the best rock songs of the 80’s and 90’s. Starting at 8:30 –
12:30 am we will have Raised Reckless a country rock/rock band.
Saturday June 27th, festivities start early with a dairy breakfast at 7 A.M., sponsored by the FFA Alumni at the park shelter
house. A Car Show will begin at 9 am. Auby Boogaloo Scamper 5k Fun Run begins with registration at 7 A.M. and the run
at 8 A.M.. At 10 A.M. til noon will have something new this year, an event sponsored by the Marshfield
Fair Association, “Central Wisconsin’s Got Talent.. The Music Fest was chosen as one of the locations
that contestants will perform and be judged. Top performers chosen at these locations will perform at the
Marshfield Fair in late August. A bean bag tournament will begin at 1 P.M. Register for the tournament
on Saturday starting at noon. Starting at 12:30 – 4:30 pm will be the Ditch Runners, a country rock
band. From 4:30 – 8:15 P.M. the band Road Trip, a rock band, will perform. We will end the night with
an Auburndale favorite Boogie and the Yo Yoz, rock/country, from 9 P.M. - 1 A.M.
There will be craft sales, kids’ games, and we have a new carnival ride company with some larger carnival rides, and a climbing wall. There will be plenty of food throughout the weekend.
Sunday’s events include a parade down Main Street at 11, championship softball and volleyball games, a chicken dinner
will start at 11A.M. in the park shelter, and clowns from 12 pm to 3 pm. There will be a Coin Dig and Scavenger Hunt for
the kids at 2 pm. Join us for the band Hyde, a rock band, from 12-4. Free admission all day, every day. For more information, go to www.auburndaleparkassociation.org.

Marshfield Young Professionals Activities Shared

Marshfield Young Professionals (MYP), currently 50 members strong, provides a network of
friends and activities for individuals looking to engage in community service, professional development and social opportunities!
Some recent MYP activities include:

MYP members and guests attended a “Finance 101” workshop after the February monthly meeting, presented by Leah Draxler, MYP member and Financial Advisor at Forward Financial Bank.

The Marshfield Curling Club hosted MYP members for a special social. Along with pizza and refreshments,
experienced curlers provided lessons and several, friendly matches were played.
•
In early May, MYP delivered fresh play sand to nearly 20 sandboxes and backyard playgrounds around Marshfield in our annual “Sand 4 Sandboxes” fundraiser and community service activity. This year, the proceeds from the event will go to support Right 2 Play 4 All [http://www.hubcitytimes.com/news/local/leadership-marshfield/].
We would also like to welcome our newest MYP board members, elected in April – Brooke Wolff (Membership Committee),
Melissa Easker (Communications Committee) and Marisa Zane (Community Service Committee). Josh Miller (Social Committee) and Jes Mannigel (Professional Development Committee) are returning for a second term on the board.
This summer you’ll find MYP members playing volleyball at Abares Outer Limits and softball at the Marshfield Fairgrounds,
volunteering at the United Way 5K in July, playing cards with residents at Aster Retirement Community, setting up and attending Hot Time in the City, working the Hub City Days Brat Fry for the 3 on 3 basketball tournament, and networking at
Business After 5 events!

MEGA SPORTS CAMP ANNOUNCEMENT
Marshfield area kids and families have an opportunity to have a ball
learning about positive principles through an outreach event, called
MEGA Sports Camp. The sports camp is a new approach to other
alternatives of summer vacation Bible camps. “We want to give kids the
chance to learn more about sports, discover character-building concepts,
and have a whole lot of fun,” says Camp Director Eddie Antoniewicz.
As North Ridge Church’s third year hosting this event, the camp continues to grow and be beneficial for not only the children, but also for
families. Kids in grades kindergarten through 6th grade are invited to
participate in a free sports camp held Sunday, June 28th - Thursday,
July 2nd from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. at North Ridge Church. Combining the love of sports and encouragement is the
core of this program. Children from any background, skill level or local church are invited to attend this free
event.
At MEGA Sports Camp Get Ready, kids can choose between Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball or Cheerleading. It
doesn’t matter if they’ve played all their life or just started yesterday, MEGA Sports Camp helps kids improve
their skills and self-esteem.
Between sports sessions, coaches lead in songs and help kids experience inspiring sports and Bible stories to help
character-building themes take hold in kids’ hearts. And most importantly, kids will discover God’s great love for
them.
But that’s not all. Kids will also enjoy fun sports training, snacks, upbeat rallies filled with energetic music, and
Bible stories that will help them discover character traits that can help them excel in sports and in life.
