OUR 58TH ANNUAL MEETING Credit Union Continues to Support Members’ Financial Needs Chairman of the Board Jeffrey C. Moscicki and President/CEO Alison DeTuncq had plenty of good news to report from 2012 at our annual meeting on May 22. The credit union’s assets increased to over $633 million, a record, and our membership surpassed 61,000 member-owners, another record. Net loans outstanding to members at the end of the year was $274 million, the highest ever—and a real indication of how the credit union is helping members realize their financial goals and strengthening our communities. Among the year’s highlights they covered in their reports were steps the credit union took—by introducing Text Message Banking and Mobile Apps—to make Online Banking even more convenient. They also noted that the credit union significantly expanded its support for the Thomas Jefferson Area Earned Income Tax Credit Coalition, filing 34 percent more tax returns than in 2011 and featured our extensive educational seminars program. In 2012, the credit union presented 129 seminars in branches, schools, businesses, and community centers, attracting nearly 5,000 participants. They ended their report by presenting a $1,500 college scholarship to a college-bound senior at each of the 11 public high schools in our field of membership. Both Moscicki and DeTuncq thanked the volunteer Board of Directors and the credit union staff for their hard work on behalf of the credit union. Members re-elected Kenneth M. Eades, Lisa P. Heuchert, Marie B. Melton, Jeffrey C. Moscicki, Dana B. Trom, and Ronald T. Wilcox to additional two-year terms. Following the business meeting and awarding of the door prizes, attendees proceeded to enjoy light refreshments. The credit union would like to thank the following businesses for their support: Albemarle Magazine, Baja Bean, Crutchfield, Frontier Culture Museum, James Madison’s Montpelier, Miller’s Office Products, Mona Lisa Pasta, nTelos Wireless Pavilion, Price Automotive, Putt-Putt Golf Courses, The Little Gym, Thomas Jefferson Foundation, UVA Sports Marketing & Promotions, Virginia Discovery Museum and Wintergreen Resort.
