By Tom Prendergast
All of yesterday’s rain interrupted games
have been suspended and will be completed

in the event of a rained out game, every effort
will be made to make up the contest. So it’s
our intention to re-schedule all 12 games that
were in progress and the 3 games that were
rained out on Sunday night.

28th MSBL / MABL World Series Gets Underway With 50+ / 70+ Teams
Afternoon Thunderstorm Inundate The Valley of the Sun With Torrential Rains!
By Tom Prendergast
Our 28th year of MSBL / MABL World Series tournament play began yesterday
morning on a picture perfect day. Unfortunately it didn’t stay that way. Afternoon
Poco Colt 45’s 8 vs Long Island Panthers 6 (6th) showers played havoc with games at Maryvale, Goodyear and Papago. In fact at one point, it
was raining so hard you couldn’t see the outfield in Maryvale Stadium. MSBL WS staffer,
50+ Cactus Division 2
Aussie Aces 7 Long Island Yankees 1 (4th) Red Thompson (the mayor of Maryvale), said he was standing in the press box and literally
Vermont Red Sox 6 Tri Valley Giants 3 (7th) could not see second base. “It was as if the entire infield was underwater”, he said. Several
players who were on Interstate 10 had to pull over because of limited visibility and ended up

taking side streets after an accident closed the highway for a time. But as it turned out it just
Houston Old Stars 4 Tri Valley 50’s 3 (5th)
didn’t matter because of the amount of rainfall was more than the fields could take. Even the

Special 70+ Division Rules for 2015 WS
In an attempt to keep this division competitive
and consistent, MSBL National has instituted
the following rules for all 2015 WS games.
1)
2)
3)
4)
5)
No stealing
Three (3) courtesy runners
One 9 inning game per day
5 games in 5 days
For any hit that reaches the outfield grass,
the batter cannot be thrown out at first.
6) If a pitcher fails to go into the stretch
position (with runners on base) and pitches
with a full wind up, the base runner is allowed to steal or advance to the next base.
7) With a 3-2 count on the batter and 2 outs,
all forced runners can break on the delivery
by the pitcher.
8) If a wild pitch / passed ball goes out of the
designated home plate circle, runners can
advance (including to home plate) one base
only without the catcher chasing the ball.
All of the remaining rules are MSBL and MLB
as stated in the WS tournament rules.
Torrential Rains Interrupt Sunday
MSBL WS Games (continued from page 1)
a 1 - 2 punch of severe lightning and buckets of
rain. The Phoenix weather has been unusual for
this time of year the past week. On Sunday
night a flash flood warning was issued for the
greater metropolitan area and some roads were
closed. Extreme heat, rain and dust storms have
played havoc with the normal weather pattern
of terrific weather. According to the guys at the
Weather Channel after this last front moves out,
more normal conditions should return.
