holds all
your words in one
convenient place
SpellDown comes
with sample lists
In this example, the
word "meow" has two
audio files. For this
list, the audio is "What
the cat says". It also
has two definitions.
Hit Record to record your
own voice saying the
word
Hit Fetch to download
the audio from the
Internet
In this example, the word
"Maine" has two audio files.
For this list, the audio is
"Augusta". But for a
different list you could
choose the audio "Maine"
Tips:
• SpellDown makes it easy to organize "indirect" spelling lists...
where the audio is NOT of the word itself, but of something else. A good
example would be state capitals where the word to spell is the capital,
but the audio is the state. See the FAQ page for creating these lists easily.

F.A.Q.
How can I create a Spelling List easily? The EZ list maker
allows a few options for creating lists:
Formats (version 3.3 and above)
• words can be separated with a comma: apple, pear, banana
• use a ':' to separate the spelling from the audio:
Wisconsin:Madison, Delaware:Dover, Vermont:Montpelier
In this example the word "Wisconsin" would have the audio
"Madison"
• use a third colons to add a definition: a::1st letter, b::2nd letter
Here's what I used to create a N.E. Capitals list:
Maine:Augusta, New Hampshire:Concord, Vermont:Montpelier, New York:Albany,
Pennsylvania:Harrisburg, New Jersey:Trenton, Connecticut:Hartford, Rhode
Island:Providence, Massachusetts:Boston, Delaware:Dover, Maryland:Annapolis
Also, to save typing type, use cut & paste (e.g between some other
application like mail and SpellDown).
Sometimes audio doesn't work.
Be sure to check in the
Settings App that Sound->Ringer VolumeVolume is set on high. When
your phone is muted, the ringer volume can be automatically set off.

About
Hello Spellers,
SpellDown was written to help my third grader with his
weekly spelling lists. Despite my best efforts, "it's no doodle jump"
was the result. If you have a suggestion to improve SpellDown,
please email me at [email protected]. If you find SpellDown
useful, I would sincerely appreciate your taking the time to rate it
highly (and review it too). If you don't like it, please let me know
perhaps I can help improve it.
Thanks
mike
