Καλό Καλοκαίρι
Dear Faithful.
The Statue of Liberty in New York city
harbor is celebrating her 129th birthday on
July 4th of this year. A gift from the people
of France in 1886, this beautiful statue has
served as a beacon of hope and liberty for
the many immigrants who poured into the
U.S. in the 20th century, and continues to do
so, even today. We can but imagine the
emotions that our ancestors experienced,
thousands of sons and daughters from all
over the world, who entered into the waters
of New York and were greeted by this
beautiful structural symbol of freedom. For
many, they sought a new life free from
poverty and tyranny. Some were great
opportunists, who succeeded immediately,
but the vast majority were simply the rank
and file of men, women, and children who
toiled night and day, accepting menial jobs
and who allowed themselves to be
demeaned, exploited, and overworked in
order to provide a better life for their
families and to the future generations.
Collectively, they were the unknown
builders of America.
We can all trace our roots to some
courageous individuals who came with the
clothes on their back and possibly with a
nickel in their pockets. Yes, all of us can
pridefully exclaim that it was yiayia or
pappou, mother or father who gathered
whatever meager possessions they had and
bought passage to America, in search of a
dream and mankind’s most treasured
possession, freedom. Whether they were
Greek, Italian, German, Irish, English,
Romanian, Bulgarian, Polish, Russian,
Albanian, and countless other ancestral
nationals, they beamed with joy at the
thought of entering into the United States
where personal liberty was guaranteed. The
road for them was not easy. There were
language barriers, cultural and religious
differences, as well as social and economic
strife to contend with. This new land was not
paved with gold as the rumors had
insinuated. No, this America was filled with
toil, sweat and sacrifice. This immigration
experience was harsh and cruel, but it was
also an opportunity to find freedom from
their homeland’s loss of personal liberty and
human rights. This was America, the land of
opportunity. And, they seized it. They
worked, they sweated, and provided. They
proudly defended the Nation, entering into
her service and fighting for the right to be
free in World Wars I and II, in Korea, South
Vietnam, and the Middle East.
Today, many of us are first, second and
third generation sons and daughters of these
pioneers. Most of us have never experienced
poverty, want, confusion, nor the hunger
which plagued our ancestors. Rather, we
have become the beneficiaries of their sweat
and hard work, and now live the good life.
The Greek Orthodox Church was built in
America with the same sweat and dedication
that the immigrants faced daily. The Church
was central to the life of these progenitors. It
was their safe haven from the unknown
factors of this new home: America. It was
also a place to organize, share and learn
about this new world. Certainly the Church
experienced growing pains, and even
political strife, but the Orthodox Church
flourished. Much of what these first pioneers
knew has transformed. The Church is now
bilingual. We no longer meet in someone’s
house or in a storefront, but worship and
gather in magnificent churches, some
completely adorned with iconography to
inspire us to worship. How the Church has
grown, and how wonderful have we
matured, and because we benefited from the

ALTAR BOYS
Altar Boys are required to be in the Altar on the Sundays that they are on duty, no later than 9:00 a.m. All Captains are asked
to be in the Altar a little earlier, by 9:00 a.m., to make sure that everything is ready and to get instructions from Father Nicholas
as to what will be happening for that day.
As always, the appropriate dress code for All Altar Boys that are serving, without exception, is recommended; dress shirt, tie,
dress socks and dress shoes. No one will be admitted in the Altar with a polo shirt, jeans or sneakers or boot shoes. All Altar
Boys, if they are not serving in the Altar, are required to be in Catechism School. This rule will be strictly adhered to, because
attendance will be taken every Sunday for ALL Altar Boys. PLEASE COME AND JOIN!!!

ΜΗΝΥΜΑ ΤΟΥ ΙΕΡΕΑ
Αγαπητοί εν Χριστώ Αδελφοί,
Το άγαλμα της Ελευθερίας στο λιμάνι της Νέας Υόρκης
γιορτάζει τα 129α γενέθλιά του στις 4 Ιουλίου. Αυτό το
όμορφο άγαλμα, το οποίο υπήρξε δώρο του Γαλλικού λαού το
1886, συμβολίζει την ελπίδα και την ελευθερία για πολλούς
μετανάστες, οι οποίοι συνέρευσαν στις Η.Π.Α. τον 20 ο αιώνα,
και συνεχίζουν ακόμη και σήμερα. Μπορούμε μόνο να
φανταστούμε τα συναισθήματα που κατέκλυαν τους
προγόνους μας από όλο τον κόσμο, οι οποίοι κατέφταναν κατά
χιλιάδες στο λιμάνι της Νέας Υόρκης και έβλεπαν εμπρός τους
αυτό το όμορφο σύμβολο της ελευθερίας. Πολλοί
αναζητούσαν μία νέα ζωή, ελεύθερη από φτώχεια και
τυρρανία. Αρκετοί από αυτούς απεδείχθησαν οπορτουνιστές,
και πέτυχαν αμέσως, αλλά στη μεγαλύτερη πλειοψηφία τους,
όσοι κατέφταναν στις Η.Π.Α., ήταν απλοί άνδρες, γυναίκες
και παιδιά που δούλευαν νυχθημερόν, αναλάμβαναν κάθε
λογής εργασία και επέτρεπαν την ταπείνωση, την
εκμετάλλευση και την ατελείωτη εργασία προκειμένου να
είναι σε θέση να προσφέρουν μία καλύτερη ζωή στις
οικογένειές τους και στις επόμενες γενεές. Τρόπο τινά, όλοι
αυτοί ήταν οι άγνωστοι θεμελιωτές της Αμερικής.
Μπορούμε ὀλοι να εντοπίσουμε τις ρίζες μας σε κάποιους
θαρραλέους ανθρώπους οι οποίοι ήρθαν σε αυτή τη χώρα με
δυο ρούχα στις αποσκευές τους, και πιθανώς με μία δεκάρα
στις τσέπες τους. Όλοι μας μπορούμε να μιλήσουμε με
περηφάνεια για τον παππού και τη γιαγιά, τη μητέρα ή τον
πατέρα μας, οι οποίοι συνέλεξαν όσα υπάρχοντα είχαν και
ήρθαν στην Αμερική, σε αναζήτηση ενός ονείρου και της
πολυπόθητης Ελευθερίας. Ανεξαρτήτως του εάν ήταν
Έλληνες, Ιταλοί, Γερμανοί, Ιρλανδοί, Άγγλοι, Ρουμάνοι,
Βούλγαροι, Πολωνοί, Ρώσοι, Αλβανοί, ή οποιοιδήποτε άλλοι
υπήκοοι άλλων κρατών, όλοι τους κατακλυόντουσαν από χαρά
στη σκέψη ότι θα εισερχόντουσαν στις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες
όπου η προσωπική ελευθερία ήταν βέβαιη. Η διαδρομή τους
φυσικά δεν ήταν εύκολη. Υπήρχαν εμπόδια όσον αφορά τη
γλώσσα, τον πολιτισμό και τη θρησκεία, καθώς επίσης και
κοινωνικές και οικονομικές διαφορές τις οποίες θα έπρεπε να
αντιμετωπίσουν. Η νέα γη δεν ήταν στρωμένη με χρυσάφι,
όπως διάφοροι είχαν αφήσει να υπονοηθεί. Αντιθέτως! Αυτή η
Αμερική που έβλεπαν μπροστά τους ήταν γεμάτη με μόχθο,
ιδρώτα και θυσίες. Η μεταναστευτική τους εμπειρία ήταν
σκληρή και δύσκολη, αλλά ήταν συνάμα μία ευκαιρία να
βρουν την ελευθερία που τους είχε στερήσει η πατρίδα τους.
Αυτή ήταν η Αμερική, η χώρα της ευκαιρίας. Και την
άρπαξαν. Εργάστηκαν, ίδρωσαν, και μπόρεσαν να παρέχουν
αγαθά. Υπερασπίστηκαν το νέο τους Έθνος, υπηρετώντας τις
ένοπλες δυνάμεις και πολεμόντας για το δικαίωμα στην
ελευθερία κατά τον 1ο και 2ο Παγκόσμιο πόλεμο, καθώς και
στην Κορέα, το Νότιο Βιετνάμ, και τη Μέση Ανατολή.
Σήμερα, πολλοί από εμάς είμαστε γιοί και κόρες πρώτης,
δεύτερης και τρίτης γενιάς αυτών των πρωτοπόρων. Οι
περισσότεροι από εμάς δεν έχουμε βιώσει ποτέ φτώχεια,
ανάγκη, σύγχυση ή πείνα, τα οποία είχαν βιώσει οι πρόγονοί
μας. Αντιθέτως, εμείς είμαστε οι ωφελημένοι του ιδρώτα και
της σκληρής δουλειάς τους, και τώρα ζούμε την καλή ζωή.
Η Ελληνική Ορθόδοξος Εκκλησία χτίστηκε στην Αμερική
με τον ίδιο ιδρώτα και αφοσίωση που αντιμετώπιζαν οι
μετανάστες καθημερινώς. Η Εκκλησία ήταν κεντρικό κομμάτι
της ζωής τους. Ήταν το καταφύγιό τους από τους άγνωστους
παράγοντες που αντιμετώπιζαν καθημερινά στο νέο τους
«σπίτι», την Αμερική. Ήταν επίσης ένα μέρος όπου
μπορούσαν να οργανωθούν, να μοιραστούν και να μάθουν για
το νέο αυτό κόσμο. Ὀπως είναι φυσικό, η Εκκλησία
αντιμετώπισε προβλήματα, καθώς επίσης και πολιτικές
αναταράξεις, αλλά η Ορθόδοξη Εκκλησία άνθισε. Πολλά από
όσα ήξεραν αυτοί οι πρωτοπόροι είχαν αλλάξει. Η Εκκλησία
είναι πλέον δίγλωσση. Δεν βρισκόμαστε πλέον στο σπίτι
κάποιου, ή σε κάποιο μαγαζί, αλλά συγκεντρωνόμαστε και
προσευχόμαστε σε πανέμορφες εκκλησίες, πολλές από τις
οποίες έχουν εικονογραφίες που μας εμπνεόυν να
προσευχόμαστε. Είναι πραγματικά απίστευτο πως έχει
αναπτυχθεί η Εκκλησία και πόσο έχουμε όλοι ωριμάσει, και
όλα αυτά επειδή επωφεληθήκαμε από τον μόχθο των
προγόνων μας, και τώρα απολαμβάνουμε τη ζωή μας. Πάρα
ταυτά όμως, έχουμε χάσει την ικανότητα να αναγνωρίζουμε
πόσο σημαντική είναι η Εκκλησία για εμάς σήμερα.
Η Εκκλησία δεν είναι πλέον το μέρος συγκέντρωσης όλων
στην οποία μπορούμε να βρούμε ειρήνη, ασφάλεια και άνεση,
παρά μόνο, αποτελεί εικονικά τον τόπο συγκέντρωσης για
προσευχή. Σήμερα, είμαστε τόσο απορροφημένοι στις υλικές
ανέσεις μας, και έχουμε ξεχάσει την πνευματική ζωή. Εάν δεν
ταιριάζει με τις καθημερινές μας δραστηριότητες, την
αποφεύγουμε. Έχουμε ξεφύγει τόσο πολύ, που μόνο σε
ξεχωριστές περιπτώσεις έχουμε ανάγκη το Θεό. Εκεί μας
κατάντησε η τόση ελευθερία;
Οι πρώτοι μετανάστες μόχθησαν για την πνευματική ζωή.
Συγκεκριμένα, τόσο απαραίτητη ήταν αυτή η ανάγκη για
εκείνους, ούτως ώστε να μαζέψουν τις δεκάρες τους
προκειμένου να φέρουν ιερείς από την «παλιά πατρίδα» τους
ή από το χωριό τους προκειμένου να μπορούν να λαμβάνουν
Θεία Κοινωνία, να λαμβάνουν μέρος στα Θεία Μυστήρια, και
να θάβουν τους νεκρούς τους. Γνώριζαν, ότι παρόλο που
βρίσκονταν στη γη της ελευθερίας, πάρα ταύτα, δεν θα ήταν
ουσιαστικά ελεύθεροι εάν δεν είχαν πνευματική ελευθερία.
Δυστυχώς, εμείς σήμερα έχουμε χάσει την ανάγκη μας για
πνευματική ελευθερία. Ο χρόνος μας είναι πολύτιμος, και
προσπαθούμε
να
στριμώξουμε
όσες
περισσότερες
δραστηριότητες μπορούμε μέσα σε 24 ώρες, με εξαίρεση την
Εκκλησία. Έχουμε ξεχάσει ότι ο Ιησούς Χριστός είναι αυτός
που μας παρέχει την πνευματική ελευθερία και κάθαρση, και
όχι οι δραστηριότητες που έχουν σχέση με προαγωγή,
διασκεδάσεις και την αναζήτηση της καλής ζωής. Με όλη
αυτή την ελευθερία που έχουμε, έχουμε μειώσει την
πραγματική μας ελευθερία: την αναζήτηση της αιώνιας ζωής.
Το Άγαλμα της Ελευθερίας αποτελεί μία τεράστια
υπενθύμιση ότι όλοι είναι ευπρόσδεκτοι σε αυτό το σπουδαίο
Έθνος προκειμένου να ζήσουν ελεύθεροι. Εκατομμύρια
επισκέπτες συρρέουν στο Άγαλμα της Ελευθερίας

προκειμένου να δουν αυτό το άγαλμα που αποτελεί μία
τεράστια υπενθύμιση των ριζών μας και της Ανεξαρτησίας
μας.
Οι Εκκλησίες χτίστηκαν από τους πρώτους Έλληνες
προκειμένου να μπορέσουμε όλοι να ζήσουμε την πραγματική
ελευθερία του Ιησού Χριστού. Ίσως θα μπορούσαμε να τις
ανακυρήξουμε και ιστορικές τοποθεσίες σε ανάμνηση του
καιρού όπου οι άνδρες και οι γυναίκες λάτρευαν και
προσευχόντουσαν στο Θεό εις αναζήτηση της αιώνιας ζωής.

labor of our ancestors and now live the good life, we
conversely have lost the drive to recognize how important the
Church is to us today.
The Church is no longer the centralized gathering place
where peace, safety, comfort and camaraderie are found, but
simply an edifice to where people gather for worship. Today,
we are so attuned to the pleasures of the good life, that we
have forgotten the spiritual life. If it does not fit into our daily
promotional exercises, we avoid it. We have progressed so
much, that we only need God on special occasions. Is this
what freedom has transformed us into? Those first immigrants
painfully cried out for spiritual comfort. In fact, so forceful
was their plea that they saved their pennies to bring priests
from the “old country” or from the village, to fulfill the need
to receive Holy Communion, to experience the sacraments of
the church, and to bury their dead. They knew that they, even
in this land of opportunity, were not really free unless they
were spiritually free. We have lost that drive or image of the

Church. Our time is precious to us and we cram all sorts of
activities within 24 hours, the exception being Church. We
have forgotten that it is Jesus Christ who makes us free and
unencumbered, not activities bent on self-promotion, fun, and
pursuit of the good life. We have, with all this freedom,
diminished our real freedom: the quest for eternal life.
The Statue of Liberty is a majestic reminder that all are
welcome to this great Nation to experience freedom. Millions
of visitors today ferry out to Liberty Island to experience this
majestic reminder of our roots and our Independence.
Churches were built by those early Greeks to bathe them into
true freedom of Jesus Christ. Maybe we could declare them
historical landmarks as a reminder of a time when men and
women worshipped God in search of eternal life.
Have a beautiful and a very blessed Summer and wherever
you go on vacation during this period of relaxation, search out
and find an Orthodox Church near you and go and worship.

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE — ΜΗΝΥΜΑ ΤΟΥ ΠΡΟΕΔΡΟΥ
Dear Parishioners,
All year round the board has been working diligently with the
township and the team of architects and engineers, in order to prepare
all the specifics for the building of the outside support wall as well as
to proceed with the plans and proposals for the renovation inside our
Church. Soon, our beloved community will be called to decide on this
most important project in light of the 100th year anniversary of our
St. George.
Besides that, the last few months were very busy for all
departments and organizations, but once more, a great job was done
by all, and we couldn’t be more proud of our Church and its people.
April and May were busy months as the preparation for the
Festival continued, and we are happy to say that our Community has
done it again. The Festival experience was one of the most successful
ones. It was our first time to do a 4-day event, and it worked
perfectly! It was because of you and all of your hard work, that this
project was crowned as a success. Everyone worked together and we
managed to provide our guests top service, great food, and an overall
hospitable and unique Greek atmosphere, which had people talking!!!
Congratulations everyone!
In the month of May we also had the honor of participating at the
Clergy – Laity Convention, organized by the Metropolis of NJ, where
we had the chance to
honor Mr. John Mellos, as
a member of our Parish
Council,
Mr.
Stanley
Gerondelis as a steward of
our Community, Mrs. Effie
Bouziotis, as a member of
the Philoptochos, Mr.
Nicholas Koumis, as a
member of GOYA, and
last but not least, Mrs.
Mary Kuklakis, as the
oldest person in our Parish! Congratulations to all for participating,
and for showing your love and dedication to St. George.
At this point I would like to extend my many thanks and
appreciation to our GOYA, for all of its great achievements. Our
children are our future, and we can be nothing less than proud for
their energy, passion, wisdom, hard work, dedication, and progress.
Congratulations to everyone and especially to Nicolette Kavouras,
whose poem won 2nd place in the 2015 Metropolis Oratorical
Festival in the Junior Division, held on May 16th. Congratulations to
our Greek School graduates for another successful year, and we hope
their lives will be filled with excitement, knowledge, and love for our
heritage and culture. Congratulations to GOYA for all that they have
offered and continue to do so, whether it is Sights and Sounds, Junior
Olympics, Competitions, or every other endeavor. Congratulations
also to our Sunday School children for learning the word of God, and
keeping in their hearts our faith and religion.
Although it may be summer, we still have to prepare for the 100
year anniversary. Our committee is full of wonderful ideas, and
everyone’s help is going to be necessary in order to present to our
Community and to everyone else, a wonderful year of celebrations,
remembrance, and ideals for the future.
Enjoy your summer, fill up your batteries, and we will see
everyone in September for a new, prosperous, and dynamic
ecclesiastical year!

Αγαπητοί ενορίτες,
Καθ’ όλη τη διάρκεια της χρονιάς, το συμβούλιο εργάστηκε
σκληρά προκειμένου να προχωρήσουν τα έργα εξωραϊσμού και
ανέγερσης εξωτερικού τοίχου περιφερειακά της εκκλησίας.
Περαιτέρω, συνεργαζόμαστε με ομάδα αρχιτεκτόνων προκειμένου να
λάβουμε προσφορές για την ανακαίνιση του εσωτερικού της
εκκλησίας μας, για τις οποίες θα κληθείτε να αποφασίσετε λίαν
συντόμως.
Πέραν τούτου, οι τελευταίοι μήνες ήταν μήνες εντατικής
προετοιμασίας για το ετήσιο Φεστιβάλ μας, το οποίο αυτή τη φορά
ήταν 4ήμερο, και το οποίο
στέφθηκε από απόλυτη επιτυχία.
Συγχαρητήρια σε όλους για την
άψογη,
ακούραστη,
και
ενεργητική συνεργασία, που
έκανε το φεστιβάλ μας ακόμη πιο
ξακούστό!
Το Μάιο, η Εκκλησία μας
συμμετείχε στην Κληρολαϊκή, η
οποία διοργανώθηκε υπό την
αιγίδα της Μητροπόλεως, και
κατά τη διάρκεια της οποίας
τιμήσαμε
πρόσωπα
της
κοινότητάς
μας,
και
συγκεκριμένα τον κο Μέλλο, από
το Δ.Σ., τον κο Γεροντέλη, από την Κοινότητα, την κα Μπουζιώτη
από τη Φιλόπτωχο, τον κο Κούμη, από τη Νεολαία μας, και βεβαίως
την κα Κουκλάκη, ως το μεγαλύτερο εν ενεργεία μέλος της
κοινότητάς μας. Σας ευχαριστούμε όλους.
Σε αυτό το σημείο θα ήθελα να ευχαριστήσω και να εκφράσω την
ευγνωμοσύνη μου στη Νεολαία μας, καθώς αυτά τα νέα παιδιά
αποτελούν το νέο αίμα
της ενορίας μας και
μας
κάνουν
περήφανους. Ειδικώς,
πρέπει να δοθούν
συγχαρητήρια
στη
Νικολέττα Καβούρα,
γιατί το ποίημά της
που δημοσιεύτηκε στο
προηγούμενο τεύχος,
πήρε συνολικά τη 2η
θέση στον Ρητορικό
Φεστιβάλ
της
Μητροπόλεώς μας στις 16 Μαϊου. Συγχαρητήρια επίσης αξίζουν
στους απόφοιτους του Ελληνικού σχολείου και του Κατηχητικού
σχολείου για μία ακόμη πετυχημένη, και δημιουργική χρονιά, καθώς
και στη Νεολαία μας στο σύνολό της, επειδή μας κάνει υπερήφανους
με ό,τι καταπιάνεται, είτε αυτό είναι το Sights & Sounds, ή οι
Ολυμπιακοί, ή άλλοι διαγωνισμοί, ή το Φέστιβαλ. Ευχαριστούμε για
όλα.
Παρόλο που είναι καλοκαίρι, οι προετοιμασίες συνεχίζουν για
την επέτειο των 100 χρόνων μας, και η συμβολή όλων είναι
απαραίτητη, εάν θέλουμε να έχουμε μία υπέροχη χρονιά, όπου θα
τιμήσουμε το παρελθόν μας και θα θέσουμε τις βάσεις για ένα ακόμα
καλύτερο μέλλον.
Σας εύχομαι καλό, ξέγνοιαστο, χαρούμενο καλοκαίρι, και σας
περιμένουμε όλους ξεκούραστους και ανανεωμένους το Σεπτέμβρη,

STEWARDSHIP REQUIREMENTS
ΑΠΑΙΤΗΣΕΙΣ ΕΚΟΥΣΙΑΣ ΕΙΣΦΟΡΑΣ
Any person can give any amount for Stewardship. However, to
be considered a member in good standing, to participate in the
sacraments of Baptism or Wedding, and to have one vote in the
General Assembly, the following minimums must be met:
 $350 for single adult or husband and wife (age 18-64):
one vote (if both the husband and wife pay $350 in total);
(if $700 total, both can vote)
 $250 for a married senior couple (age 65+): one vote (if
both the husband and wife pay $250); (If they offer $400
total, both can vote)
 $200 for single senior and college student (age 18-24,
must show proof of attending college full time)
 Greater than the required contributions: those who
have been blessed should consider a greater contribution.
Ο καθένας μπορεί να προσφέρει ό,τι μπορεί. Όμως, για να
θεωρηθείτε κανονικό μέλος, να μπορείτε να πάρετε μέρος στα
Mυστήρια της Βάπτισης και του Γάμου, και να έχετε δικαίωμα

The heart of Summer is upon us and many of you, our beloved
Parishioners, will be traveling, visiting loved ones, here and elsewhere.
Many of you, I’m sure, are looking forward to the change of pace that
summertime brings. There is, however, one thing that does not
change… our coming to church on Sundays even during the Summer.
If Summertime brings about a change of pace, then this summer should
be and is an excellent time to renew our commitment to Christ and His
Church, especially now that all schools are closed. Please remember to
come to church in the Summer. Let us be the Sower of Good Seed!

GREEK FESTIVAL
IT WAS A GREAT CELEBRATION!
Together as a Christian family, we, as faithful
parishioners of St. George, experienced once
again a very successful Greek festival. From all
indications, although it is just a little early to tell,
this festival was well attended and more
volunteers were available and helped this year
than others. We pray that this trend continues.
From an economic point of view, it looks like
we had a better year than last year, although there
are bills still coming in.
We would like to thank our chairperson for
this Festival, Mr. George Athanasopoulos, for a
job well done! To ALL of our faithful and most
dedicated hard working parishioners who
sacrificed their valuable time and energy to help,
not only during the four grueling days of the
festival, but also to those who came months before
to make the needed preparations for this great
event, we express to you A BIG THANK YOU!!!
As you know, it is impossible to mention
everyone’s name who came to help, for fear that
we might inadvertently forget someone. So
instead, we thank all those who felt
compassion and desire to help their
Church. St. George will not forget you and
neither will our Heavenly Father who is looking
from above.

GREEK FESTIVAL
Για 42η συνεχή χρόνια την 17η Μαΐου ολοκληρώθηκε με
επιτυχία το 42ου Ετήσιο Ελληνικό Φεστιβάλ του Αγίου
Γεωργίου. Το Σάββατο του Φεστιβάλ ήταν η ημέρα με την
μεγαλύτερη κίνηση, και η απόφαση να γίνει το Φεστιβάλ
τετραήμερο δικαιωθηκε με μεγάλη επιτυχία. Κάθε χρόνο
γιορτάζουμε την πίστη μας, την κληρονομιά μας και την
φιλοξενία μας σε αυτή την τεκδήλωση. Ως υπεύθυνος του 42 ου
Φεστιβάλ θέλω να ευχαριστήσω όλους
όσους συμμετείχαν στην μεγάλη
προσπάθειά μας και συντέλεσαν σε
αυτή την μεγάλη επιτυχία.
Κατ’ αρχήν θέλω να ευχαριστήσω
τον πατέρα Νικόλαο και τον πρόεδρο
της κοινότητας Γιώργο Ζαλοκώστα για
την βοήθεια και την συνεργασία τους.
Επίσης θέλω να ευχαριστήσω τα μέλη
του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου για την
συνεργασία τους.
Θέλω να ευχαριστήσω όλα τα
τμήματα ανεξαιρέτως που εργάστηκαν
σκληρά και ευσυνείδητα προκειμένου
το φετινό Φεστιβάλ να είναι ακόμα πιο επιτυχημένο.
Περαιτέρω, θέλω να ευχαριστήσω όλους τους δωρητές
που μας ενίσχυσαν στην προσπάθειά μας για το φετινό
φεστιβάλ, καθώς και όλους τους χορηγούς για την ευγενική
συμμετοχή τους.
Τέλος, θέλω να ευχαριστήσω και τη νεολαία για τη
βοήθειά της, καθώς και για το ωραίο θέαμα που μας
προσέφερε.
Με όλα αυτά, φέτος, καταφέραμε να διοργανώσουμε ένα
καλύτερο και αποδοτικότερο φεστιβάλ. Ήταν η πρώτη χρονιά
μετά από 41 χρόνια που ξεκινήσαμε Πέμπτη, και είχαμε
ανέλπστη προσέλευση ατόμων. Αυτό συνέβαλε στην φετεινή
μεγάλη επιτυχία του Φεστιβάλ.
Ευχαριστούμε πολύ όλους όσους μας στηρίζουν τόσα
χρόνια και που είναι δίπλα μας. Υποσχόμαστε του χρόνου να
δώσουμε και πάλι τον καλύτερο εαυτό μας για τη διοργάνωση
ενός υπέροχου τετραήμερου Φεστιβάλ! Ραντεβού λοιπόν στις
12, 13, 14 και 15 Μαΐου 2016!

Our 42nd St. George Annual Greek Festival concluded on
May 17th with much success. Saturday of the Festival was the
busiest day and the decision to make the Festival a 4-day event
proved to be a wise and successful one. Every year we celebrate our faith, our heritage, and our hospitality at this fourday event. As chairman of this year’s Festival I wish to thank
everyone who participated in this great effort and contributed
in making it a great success.
First, I would like to
thank Father Nicholas and
Board President George
Zalokostas for their help
and collaboration. I would
also like to thank the Board
of Trustees members for
their help and cooperation.
I would like to thank
each and everyone from all
the
departments
who
worked hard and conscientiously to achieve our goal.
Further, I would like to
thank our donors who reinforced our efforts for this year’s
Festival, as well as all the sponsors for their generous contributions.
Last, but not
least, I would like
to thank our Youth
for their help, as
well as for their
performances.
This year we
managed to have a

Another active, busy year
has come to an end for the

Philoptochos Society. We are
pleased to report that we have
successfully fulfilled all of our
National,
Metropolis
and
Parish obligations for the 20142015 ecclesiastical year. We look
forward to the upcoming year,
and working with Fr. Nick, the
parish president, church board
and all the members of our
community.
On May 11, 2015, the
Metropolis
Clergy/Laity
Assembly and the Metropolis
Philoptochos Convention took place at the Venetian in
Garfield, NJ. The delegates to the convention were Virginia
Theokas, Maggie Stavrianidis, along with Eleni Andronikou
and Evelyn Tsiadis, who are members of the Metropolis
Board. The Metropolis Philoptochos President, Ann Michals,
addressed the entire assembly and her theme was the
importance of support for the Philoptochos by the clergy,
parish president and board members, as well as every lady of
the parish.
At the convention, Mrs. Effie Bouziotis was recognized,
by Metropolitan Evangelos, for her many active years as
President, as well as holding other board offices within our
chapter. She has also been active with the PTO and Daughters
of Penelope as well. We thank Effie for all her hard work and
her continued years of service on the Philoptochos Board.

At our last meeting in May, a new Philoptochos Board and
officers were elected to serve for the coming year. Virginia
Theokas was chosen to succeed Effie Bouziotis as President.

Ακόμα μία επιτυχημένη και απαιτητική χρονιά έφτασε
στο τέλος της για τις κυρίες της Φιλοπτώχου της Εκκλησίας
μας. Είμαστε στην ευχάριστη θέση να σας ανακοινώσουμε
πως ανταποκριθήκαμε πλήρως στις Εθνικές, Μητροπολιτικές
και Εκκλησιαστικές υποχρεώσεις μας για το εκκλησιαστικό
έτος 2014-2015. Ανυπομονούμε για το ξεκίνημα του νέου
εκκλησιαστικού

προκειμένου να
συνεργαστούμε

Στις 11 Μαΐου 2015 πραγματοποιήθηκε η Κληρολαϊκή
Συνέλευση της Μητροπόλεώς μας, καθώς και το
Μητροπολιτικό Συνέδριο της Φιλοπτώχου Αδελφότητος στο
Venetian, στο Garfield. Τα μέλη που μας αντιπροσώπευσαν
ήταν η Ευγενία Θεόκα, η Maggie Σταυριανίδη, μαζί με την
Ελένη Ανδρονίκου και την Έβελιν Τσιάδη, οι οποίες είναι και
μέλη του Μητροπολιτικού Συμβουλίου. Η πρόεδρος της
Φιλοπτώχου της Μητροπόλεως, Αναστασία Michals, στο λόγο
της αναφέρθηκε στη σημασία της υποστηρίξεως της
Φιλοπτώχου από τον κλήρο, τον πρόεδρο της κοινότητας και
τα μέλη του εκκλησιαστικού συμβουλίου, καθώς και κάθε
κυρίας της κάθε κοινότητας.
Κατά το Συνέδριο, η κα Έφη Μπουζιώτη, βραβεύτηκε από
τον Μητροπολίτη μας Ευάγγελο, για τα πολλά χρόνια
υπηρεσίας της ως Πρόεδρος της Φιλοπτώχου μας, καθώς και
για τις άλλες θέσεις που είχε μέσα στο συμβούλιο. Η κα
Μπουζιώτη ήταν επίσης ενεργό μέλος του Σ.Γ.Δ., καθώς και
των Θυγατέρων της Πηνελόπης. Θέλουμε να ευχαριστήσουμε
την Έφη για τη σκληρή της δουλειά και τη συνεχόμενη
υπηρεσία της στη Φιλόπτωχο. Συγχαρητήρια και εις ανώτερα!
Κατά την τελευταία μας συνάντηση τον Μάϊο, εκλέχθηκε
νέο συμβούλιο για την επόμενη χρονιά. Η Ευγενία Θεόκα
εκλέχθηκε Πρόεδρος για να διαδεχτεί την Έφη Μπουζιώτη.
Επίσης εκλέχθηκαν η Maggie Σταυριανίδη ως Αντιπρόεδρος, η
Ελένη Ανδρονίκου ως Γενική Γραμματέας, η Κανέλλα
Αναστασάτου ως Β. Γ. Γραμματέας, η Γεωργία Κουριδάκη ως
Ταμίας και η Ευαγγελία Μανωλάκη ως Β. Ταμία. Όλες μας
ανυπομονούμε να υπηρετήσουμε την κοινότητά μας.

On Saturday April 25th our GOYA participated in the Soccer Tournament. For weeks our GOYAns worked together at
practices with only positive attitudes. They made everyone proud on tournament day.

On Thursday, May 14 to Sunday May 17, St. George hosted our annual Greek Festival. This time of year members of
our community come together to help support the church. People from all over New Jersey came to have great food and
watch the Sights-and-Sounds-winning dance group. The Greek dance group performed with passion and energy like their
ancestors have done many years ago. The turnout was great and the company was beautiful.
On Saturday May 23rd to Sunday May 24th Piscataway was competing at Junior Olympics at Monmouth University.
From cheering in the stands to running out on the track, the GOYAns represented Piscataway with excitement and grace.

The St. George Parent Teacher Organization would like to
thank all the parents and volunteers of our Greek school and
Religious Education (Sunday) school, for all their help and
support in successfully running all the events this year. We
would also like to thank the Teachers for all their hard work
and coordination.
But WE still need YOUR HELP!!
Our Officers are eager to meet with other volunteers able
to help keep our group going strong! Just drop us a line at
[email protected] if you would like to be more involved
next year in bringing fun and enriching experiences to our
community for our children. We're all working together and

SUNDAY SCHOOL
Dear Parents and Members of our St. George Community,
Our 2014-2015 ecclesiastical year has come to an end and
the summer months are upon us. On behalf of Father Nicholas,
our teachers and staff, we wish our students and their families,
as well as the entire St. George community, a wonderful and
blessed summer.
On the 14th of June we held our end of the year ceremony;
approximately 45 students received ‘Perfect’ and ‘Excellent’
attendance awards, the 3rd grade students recited ‘The Lord is
my Shepherd’, the 4th graders recited ‘O Heavenly King’, all
our children sang the Hymn of Saint George, awards were
given to several teachers who have been with us for up to 35
years and the ‘Father Anthony and Presbytera Frances Pappas’
scholarship was given to a seminarian from Holy Cross Greek
Orthodox School of Theology. We are very excited to inform
you that the ‘Teacher of the Year’ award was given to Ted and
Louise Lambros. Louise is our music teacher ; you will find
her each week at a different classroom teaching our children
the melodic hymns of the Greek Orthodox faith. Ted is an
administrator who, among other responsibilities, prepares all
the classrooms early each Sunday morning for the arrival of
the students and teachers. Ted and Louise have been with our
program for 35 years and their dedication to our program is
significant. We are truly so blessed to have them among us and
we look forward to many years with them.
It was an absolute pleasure for all of us to teach our
Christian Orthodox faith and heritage to our lovely students.
Our Catechism program proceeded this year with great energy,
enthusiasm and the blessings of our Lord Jesus Christ. Each
class followed the established curriculum developed by the
Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America Department of
Religious Education, and participated in special projects that
enhanced their learning process. We offered a music program
that included the teachings of many liturgical hymns. Each
class also participated in the Divine Liturgy at least once a
month where their knowledge of our Holy Orthodox Church
was reinforced. Our program now encompasses all grades
from Cradle up to and including 12th grade.
We also conducted a number of special projects
throughout the year including the Thanksgiving Food Drive,
the Christmas Pageant, the St. John Chrysostom Oratorical
Festival, the Orthodox Christian Mission Center collection,
the UNICEF collection, etc. We are very fortunate to have
many generous donations throughout the year. On Mother’s
Day, our students and staff received flowers from Hionis
Nursery; we thank you so much for your thoughtfulness.
We are also excited to have Georgia Peterson rejoin us
following her medical leave.
During the summer months we will meet to discuss
enhancements to our program that will be communicated prior
to the 2015-2016 ecclesiastical year. The set curricula and the
many projects carried out throughout the year, under the
leadership and spiritual guidance of Father Nicholas, provide a
complete representation of our Catechism Program.
We truly thank the many committed volunteers for all their
efforts, dedication and perseverance. If you would like to
volunteer your time or talents to our program, please contact
me at [email protected]. Please note that any amount of
time that you can give us is most appreciated. If you prefer
not to be in the classrooms on Sunday, you can help us with
the many programs being conducted throughout the year.
Have a Great and Blessed Summer!!! We are scheduled
to begin the next ecclesiastical year on September 13, 2015
and end on June 12, 2016.

Ορθοδόξου Πίστεως είναι η θρησκευτική μόρφωση. Είναι
πολύ σπουδαίο τα παιδιά μας να διδαχτούν την πραγματική
αλήθεια της θρησκείας μας και γιατί πρέπει να πιστεύουν σ΄
αυτήν. Για να το πετύχουμε αυτό, το Πρόγραμμα του
Κατηχητικού μας σχολείου χρειάζεται Κατηχήτριες.
One of the most important and basic foundations of our
Orthodox Faith is the religious education. It is very important
for our children to be taught the real truth of our religion, and
why they should believe in it. In order for this to happen, our
Sunday School Program needs teachers.
Χωρίς τη θέληση και βοήθειά σας σε αυτό το πρόγραμμα,
εμείς σαν κοινότητα δε θα μπορέσουμε να προοδεύσουμε και
έτσι τα παιδιά μας δε θα μάθουν τίποτα για την πίστη μας, σαν
αληθινοί Ορθόδοξοι Χριστιανοί, παρά μόνο το όνομα θα
έχουν.
Σας παρακαλούμε προσπαθήστε να διαθέσετε λίγο από
τον πολύτιμό σας χρόνο και ελάτε να βοηθήσετε στο
Πρόγραμμα του Κατηχητικού μας Σχολείου που και φέτος θα
είναι πολύ ενδιαφέρον!
Without your help and drive in this program, we as a community will not be able to advance, and our children will not
learn anything about our faith, the way they are supposed to as
Orthodox Christians.
For this reason we ask of you to please try and give some
of your valuable time, and please come help in our Sunday
School Program, which is going to be very interesting this
year as well!

TRANSFIGURATION OF CHRIST, August 6
ΜΕΤΑΜΟΡΦΩΣΗ ΤΟΥ ΣΩΤΗΡΟΣ , 6 Αυγούστου
WHAT IS OUR GOAL IN THIS EARTHLY LIFE? It is to
become like God. The Theologians call this “theosis” or deification. We are to become like unto Christ our Lord. Our Lord,
Jesus Christ, was transfigured before three of His Apostles.
His face becoming as bright as the sun, and His clothes as
white as snow. In this transformation,
Jesus appeared in the glory and radiance of His divinity.
Christ let the divine nature shine
forth through His humanity: and we,
in return, are to strive to have our
“divinity” come to shine through our
humanity.
The Scriptures give ample witness
to this lofty goal of humankind. Jesus
once said “Be you therefore perfect,
even as your Father in heaven is perfect.” (Matthew 5:48). St. Paul writes
“What? Don’t you know that your
body is the temple of the Holy Spirit
which is in you, which you have of
God” (I Cor. 6:19). The Apostle Peter
tells the faithful that they are to be
“partakers of the divine nature” (2
Peter 1:4). Finally Apostle Paul told
the Galatians: I live, yet not I, but Christ lives in
me…” (Galatians 2:20).
Let us remember, then, that we are made in the “image
and likeness” of God, as Genesis points out. The annual observance of the Transfiguration of our Lord should spur us on
toward the realization and actualization of this supreme calling
of ours. While it is true that the full deification of the believer must
await the coming of the Lord, let us nevertheless set our sight on that
true light “which enlightens every man that comes into the world.”
ΠΟΙΟΣ ΕΙΝΑΙ Ο ΣΚΟΠΟΣ ΜΑΣ ΣΤΗΝ ΕΠΙΓΕΙΟ ΑΥΤΗ
ΖΩΗ; Είναι να γίνουμε σαν το Θεό. Οι Θεολόγοι αποκαλούν
αυτό «Θέωση». Είναι να γίνουμε σαν το Χριστό τον Κύριό
μας. Ο Κύριός μας, Ιησούς Χριστός, μεταμορφώθηκε σαν
Θεός ενώπιον Τριών του Αποστόλων. Το πρόσωπό Του είχε
γίνει φωτεινό σαν τον ήλιο και τα ρούχα Του
άσπρα σαν το χιόνι. Κατά την Μεταμόρφωσή
του ο Χριστός εμφανίσθηκε σε όλη Του την
δόξα και ακτινοβολία της θεότητάς Του.
Ο Χριστός άφησε τη Θεότητά Του να
λάμψει μέσα από την Ανθρωπότητά Του. Και
εμείς πρέπει να προσπαθήσουμε να λάμψει η
θεότητά μας μέσω της ανθρωπότητάς μας.
Οι Γραφές δίδουν αρκετές μαρτυρίες γι’
αυτό τον υψηλό σκοπό των ανθρώπων. Ο
Ιησούς είπε κάποτε «Να γίνετε άριστοι όπως ο
Πατέρας σας είναι άριστος εις τον
Παράδεισον» (Ματθ. 5:48). Ο Άγιος Παύλος
γράφει «Τι; Δεν ξέρεις ότι το σώμα σου είναι ο
Ναός του Αγίου Πνεύματος το οποίο είναι
μέσα σου και το οποίο έχεις από τον Θεό» (Ι
Κορινθ. 6:19). Ο Απόστολος Πέτρος λέγει
στους πιστούς ότι «Πρέπει να είναι μέλη της
Θείας Φύσεως» (2 Πέτρος 1:4). Τέλος, ο
Απόστολος Παύλος είπε στους Γαλάτες «Ζω,
αλλά όχι εγώ, αλλά ο Χριστός ζει μέσα μου...» (Γαλατ. 2:20).
Ας ενθυμούμεθα λοιπόν ότι πλασθήκαμε κατά τη μορφή
του Θεού όπως μας το λέει και η Γένεσις. Η ετήσια γιορτή της
Μεταμορφώσεως του Κυρίου μας πρέπει να μας προτρέπει
προς την πραγματοποίηση αυτού του υψηλού προορισμού
μας. Αν και αληθές είναι ότι η καθολοκληρία Θεοποίηση των
Πιστών πρέπει να περιμένει την Δευτέρα Παρουσία του
Κυρίου, όμως ας προσπαθήσουμε να προχωρήσουμε προς το
Φως «το οποίο λαμπρίνει κάθε άνθρωπο που έρχεται εις τον
Κόσμο αυτό».
St. Nicholas
Greek Orthodox Church
& National Shrine
The St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church & National Shrine being built at the World Trade Center will be a
house of worship for the Greek Orthodox Community and a place of prayer and solace for all people. As part
of a national initiative to support St. Nicholas, Philoptochos is asking for a $100 donation from each member,
or any amount higher or lower that you are able to give, to collectively support our chapter goal of $10,000.00.
Philoptochos board members will begin to reach out to members individually, and we of course welcome and
encourage donations from non-members. Please ask a member of the Philoptochos to learn more.

THE DORMITION OF THE THEOTOKOS, Aug. 15
Η ΚΟΙΜΗΣΙΣ ΤΗΣ ΘΕΟΤΟΚΟΥ, 15 Αυγούστου
After the Holy Spirit had come down from heaven upon
the Apostles, they went out to preach the Gospel and establish
the Holy Church in every nation. Mary, or the Lord’s mother,
also traveled to other cities. When the Holy Apostle John became bishop of Ephesus, Mary went there and lived in his
house for an extended period of time.
Most of the time, however, Mary lived in Jerusalem, on
Mount Sion. She was greatly loved and revered by all the
members of the Holy Church. The Virgin Mother was the holiest person on earth, because Christ our God had dwelt in her
womb. She had been His earthly mother and He had given her
many gifts of Grace.
But everyone, as mortal human beings, must die sooner or
later, no matter how holy they are. From the time of our
Lord’s Crucifixion and His Resurrection, Mary the Lord’s
mother, did not want to be on this earth. Her wish was to be
with her Son. Well, after many years of spreading the gospel
and doing missionary work, her wishes came true. One day, at
an old age, and as she was praying, Archangel Gabriel appeared to her and told her that she would repose in three days.
Mary was overjoyed to hear that she would soon repose,
for she longed to be with her Son Jesus in heaven. She called
for all the Christians in Jerusalem to come to her so she could
bid them farewell, and give them a blessing. To the women
she lived with, she gave pieces of her clothing as remembrances. Word was sent to the Apostle John, who was bishop of
Jerusalem, and Mary told him where she was to be buried. All
her relatives and faithful of the Holy Church began to pray.
They all wept in sorrow, but Mary comforted them by telling
them that it would be better for them to rejoice than to weep,
as Christ’s followers do not fear death.
Mary peacefully reposed with joy and hope at the ninth
hour of the day (3:00 p.m.). She was carried with honor to the
family tomb at the foot of the Mount of Olives. By God’s will,
only Apostle Thomas had not been brought to Mary’s bedside,
but came to Jerusalem as soon as he heard about her repose.
God had caused this to happen because He wanted to give the
Holy Church a special revelation. Thomas begged the other
apostles to open Mary’s tomb so he could see her one last
time. When they opened the tomb, it was empty. Christ had
taken His Mother’s body to heaven to be with Him. Thus, we
know that she is alive and already raised from the dead, and
she constantly prays for all Orthodox Christians and helps us
in our time of need.
Because of this revelation the Apostles and the first Christians understood that they were to give special honor to the
Virgin Theotokos and call her in prayer for help at any time.
To commemorate this holy time for us Orthodox Christians,
we are asked to set time aside so that we can attend the evening Paraklesis services, to prepare ourselves by fasting, so that
we can all receive Holy Communion together on August 15 th
as one family.
Μετά την εμφάνιση του Αγίου
Πνεύματος στους Αποστόλους του Χριστού,
αυτοί σκορπίστηκαν για να διδάξουν το
Ευαγγέλιο και να ιδρύσουν την Αγία
Εκκλησία σε διάφορα έθνη. Η Μαρία,
Μητέρα του Κυρίου μας, ταξίδεψε επίσης σε
πολλές πόλεις. Όταν ο Απόστολος Ιωάννης
έγινε επίσκοπος της Εφέσου, η Μαρία έζησε στο σπίτι του για
αρκετό καιρό.
Το περισσότερο χρόνο όμως η Παναγία έζησε στην
Ιερουσαλήμ, στο όρος Σιών. Όλοι έτρεφαν αγάπη και σεβασμό
προς αυτήν ανάμεσα στα μέλη της Εκκλησίας. Η Παρθένος
Μαρία ήταν το αγιώτατο πρόσωπο πάνω στη γη, λόγω του ότι
έφερε μέσα της τον Χριστό και Θεό μας. Ήταν η γήινη του
Μητέρα και Εκείνος της παραχώρησε την Χάρη Του.
Όλοι σαν θνητοί, θα αποβιώσουν κάποια μέρα, ασχέτως
πόσο άγιοι είναι. Από την στιγμή της Σταυρώσεως και της
Αναστάσεως του Κυρίου η Παναγία δεν ήθελε να ζει πλέον. Η
επιθυμία της ήταν να είναι με τον Υιό της. Μετά από πολλά έτη
ιεραποστολικής εργασίας η επιθυμία της εκπληρώθηκε. Μια
ημέρα στα βαθιά γεράματα της, ενώ προσεύχονταν, ο Αρχάγγελος
Γαβριήλ εμφανίστηκε εμπρός της και της ανακοίνωσε ότι σε τρεις
ημέρες θα αποβιώσει.
Η Μαρία χάρηκε ακούγοντας πως σύντομα θα αποβιώσει
γιατί επιτέλους θα βρεθεί στον ουρανό κοντά στον Ιησού.
Κάλεσε όλους τους χριστιανούς των Ιεροσολύμων να την
επισκεφθούν για να τους αποχαιρετίσει και να τους δώσει την
ευλογία της. Στις γυναίκες που έμεναν στο σπίτι της έδωσε από
τα ιμάτια της σαν ενθύμια. Ειδοποιήθηκε ο Απόστολος Ιωάννης,
ο οποίος ήταν επίσκοπος Ιεροσολύμων και ή Μαρία του είπε τον
τόπο που ήθελε να ταφεί. Όλοι οι συγγενείς και οι πιστοί άρχισαν
να προσεύχονται και να θρηνούν αλλά η Μαρία όμως τους
παρηγόρησε λέγοντας τους ότι θα πρέπει να χαίρονται γιατί σαν
οπαδοί του Χριστού δεν πρέπει να φοβούνται το θάνατο.
Η Μαρία έκλεισε ειρηνικά τα μάτια στις τρεις η ώρα το
απόγευμα. Μεταφέρθηκε με τιμές στον οικογενειακό τάφο στο
όρος των Ελαιών. Με το θέλημα του Θεού, μόνο ο Απόστολος
Θωμάς απουσίαζε την ώρα του θανάτου της, αλλά έφθασε στα
Ιεροσόλυμα μόλις το έμαθε. Ο Θεός θέλησε να γίνει αυτό γιατί
ήθελε να δώσει στην Εκκλησία μια ειδική αποκάλυψη. Ο Θωμάς
ζήτησε από τους άλλους αποστόλους να ανοίξουνε το τάφο της
Μαρίας ώστε να δεί το σώμα της για τελευταία φορά. Όταν όμως
άνοιξαν τον τάφο είδαν πως ήταν άδειος! Ο Χριστός πήρε την
Μητέρα Του μαζί του στον ουρανό. Γι’ αυτό γνωρίζουμε πως
αναστήθηκε, είναι ζωντανή και ότι πάντοτε προσεύχεται για
όλους τους Ορθόδοξους Χριστιανούς και μας βοηθά εν ώρα
ανάγκης.
Εξ αιτίας αυτής της αποκάλυψης οι Απόστολοι και οι πρώτοι
Χριστιανοί γνώριζαν πως έπρεπε να τιμήσουν την Θεοτόκο και να
ζητήσουν την βοήθεια της σε οποιανδήποτε στιγμή.
Για να εορτάσουμε αυτή την σημαντική ημέρα, εμείς οι
Ορθόδοξοι Χριστιανοί, θα πρέπει να πάρουμε τον χρόνο να
έλθουμε στις Παρακλήσεις και να προετοιμαστούμε με το να
νηστεύσουμε ώστε να μπορέσουμε όλοι να κοινωνήσουμε των
αχράντων μυστηρίων στις 15 Αυγούστου σαν μία οικογένεια.
