Year 8 Youngsters Celebrate Their Literacy Achievement!
Recently Miss Maben’s
Year 8 English group
entered Young Writers’
Spine-Chillers’ mini saga
competition. We have
been informed that a
selection of our students
have been successful and
now have the opportunity
to be published within a
special anthology. Each
student has received a
bookmark and a certificate
of merit. A copy of the
book our students’ work
will appear in, SpineChillers - West Midland
Tales, will be sent to the
British Library and further
libraries across the UK
and Republic of Ireland.
Barr’s Hill will receive a
complementary book,
which is scheduled for
publication on 30
September 2016.

Welcome to Barr’s Hill
Rewards System.
The more points you collect, the
more prizes you buy. So, be on
your best behaviour and remind
your teacher to award you points.
How to Gain Points?
Your teachers can recognise your
hard work by awarding you points,
which you can save up to buy
rewards such as pencil cases,
pens, footballs. Points can be
given by your tutor, the Head or
dinner supervisors. All staff will
be looking to see if you take pride
in being a Barr’s Hill student. Do
you have good attendance? Are
you always prepared for learning?
Do you show staff and students
respect? Are you making a special
effort in class? You can show
pride in a variety of ways, and we
want to reward you when you do.
