TAIWAN: A CULTURAL DISCOVERY
This two-part documentary, produced by KLCS, follows 16 Mandarin language
teachers from across Southern California on an excursion through Taiwan as
they spend two remarkable weeks immersing themselves in the language,
culture, food and rich history of the island-nation.
Southern California is home to the largest Chinese speaking community in
the United States. As the global interest in learning Mandarin increases the
demand and expectation of students rises. Teachers must continually broaden
their knowledge base and expand the breath of their teaching to meet the
student demand.

With the goal of sharpening their teaching skills and a passion for their craft,
educators from a wide range of schools and universities including Bellflower
School District, Chaffey College, East Los Angeles College, Los Angeles Unified
School District, UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara embark on a shared journey of
learning and discovery. Hoping to gain additional knowledge and experiences
for the benefit of their students back home, these educators learn from
some of Taiwan’s pre-eminent lecturers, visit historic landmarks, immerse
themselves in the local customs, participate in traditional ceremonies and
create deep bonds with colleagues and peers.
KLCS produced this documentary with the support of the Taipei Economic
and Cultural Office in Los Angeles and the documentary was included in the
celebration of Taiwanese Heritage Week in May.

SKY BLUE SEA
Sky Blue Sea captures the excitement, the exhilaration, the celebration and the
poignant tragedies of the bold and daring in Long Beach, California. Blessed by nature
with abundantly clear blue skies and the deep blue sea, Long Beach was home to
many of the most significant developments and accomplishments in America's naval
and aviation histories. From 1910 to 1990, Long Beach naval and aviation activities
made worldwide headlines and featured the most famous entrepreneurs, aviators,
pioneers and daredevils. Warm weather coastal fascination enticed presidents such
as Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan...all
of whom encouraged U.S. Navy expansion in Long Beach. The sky was no limit for the
adventurous but rather a proving ground for pilots and pioneers like Amelia Earhart,
Howard Hughes, Charles Lindbergh, William Randolph Hearst, Donald Douglas and
many more.

NOVA
INVISIBLE UNIVERSE REVEALED
Twenty-five years ago, NASA launched one of the most ambitious experiments in the
history of astronomy: the Hubble Space Telescope. In honor of Hubble's landmark
anniversary, NOVA tells the remarkable story of the telescope that forever changed our
understanding of the cosmos and our place in it. From its inception through its early
days, when a one-millimeter engineering blunder turned the telescope into an object of
ridicule, to the five heroic astronaut missions that returned Hubble to the cutting edge
of science, NOVA hears from the scientists and engineers on the front line who tell the
amazing Hubble story as never before. This single telescope has helped astronomers
pinpoint the age of the universe, revealed the birthplace of stars and planets, advanced
our understanding of dark energy and cosmic expansion, and uncovered black holes
lurking at the heart of galaxies. For more than a generation, Hubble's stunning images
have brought the beauty of the heavens to millions, revealing a cosmos richer and more
wondrous than we ever imagined. Join NOVA for the story of this magnificent machine
and its astonishing discoveries.

Everyone ages whether they like it or not. But it doesn't mean that some signs of aging
can't be fixed. Have you ever thought that it would be great to have friend, who just
happened to be a plastic surgeon, and you could
ask anything and get a straight answer? Someone
who won't judge you about your insecurities but
would open up a world of insider tips, tricks, and
secrets from the fields of beauty, dermatology, and
plastic surgery? Well, now you do - because that's
Dr. Tony Youn. Yes, plastic surgery trims waistlines
and reduces wrinkles, but in The Age Fix, Dr. Youn
gives easy home remedies to save you thousands
of dollars and achieve the same results without
surgery. Dr. Youn's goal is to offer you a way to fix
your age-related skin concerns, without having
in-office treatments, painful surgery, or spending a lot of money. While he acknowledges
there are some instances where the only real good option is actual surgery, in most cases
he offers ways to turn back the clock in a significant way without even seeing a doctor,
much less a plastic surgeon. Throughout The Age Fix Dr. Youn reveals tips, tricks, and secrets - natural anti-aging tips plastic surgeons don't want you to know. With the simple
changes he discusses, you'll look younger on the outside and be younger on the inside.
He'll share with the single best cream to put on your skin to prevent aging, and the best
cream to reverse aging, and even prevent future skin cancers. And he gives simple and
easy treatments to improve most aging concerns, like age spots, wrinkles, and under
eye puffiness. He demonstrates do-it-yourself anti-aging treatments, reveals the best
products to tighten your skin, and simple dietary changes that can make you look and
feel years younger. Your skin will glow, and you'll probably notice a few pounds fall off in
the bargain. His patients love it, and viewers will, too.

JUAN THOMPSON – STORIES I TELL MYSELF
The term Gonzo Journalism was coined after the
exploits and writings of Hunter S. Thompson. His
fierce prose was often over shadowed by his one of
a kind lifestyle. However, there is another side to
Hunter Thompson that most people are unaware
exists. With his book, Stories I Tell Myself, his son
Juan Thompson gives us an intimate portrayal of
what it was like growing up with an iconic legend,
while portraying a never before seen side of his larger
than life father.

10 REASONS YOU FEEL OLD AND FAT
10 Reasons You Feel Old And Fat is a public television special in which noted physician and educator Dr. Frank Lipman takes on our most pervasive and troublesome
myth: that aging means inevitable decline, weight gain and fatigue. In educating us
about this astounding paradigm shift in aging, he gives viewers practical tools to
feel better almost immediately and to address their own specific problems effectively with easy scientifically-based, though often unexpected, changes that support
healing and optimizing the body and mind as we age. In this program, Dr. Lipman
reveals the 10 most common reasons for feeling old and fat, and explains countless
misconceptions surrounding aging and dieting. His two-week Revitalize Program
brings together key information regarding insulin
resistance and carbohydrate intolerance, gut and
hormonal imbalances, sleep disorders, medications
and supplements, and community support. All of Dr.
Lipman's wellness suggestions are based upon solid
science and research that he will cite throughout
the program. Whatever your age, your reward will
be a healthy weight, a vast reserve of energy and a
renewed sense of resilience, vitality and joy.
Airs Tuesday, June 21st at 10PM and Monday, June 27th at 7PM
