Langley Park Senior Activity Center 2015 SUMMER CALENDAR Welcome to the Langley Park Senior Activity Center June, July, August 2015 Hours of Operation - Monday-Friday 9am-3:30pm Please note the center will be closed on: Friday, July 3 - Independence Day Summer Registration Begins Registration - Monday, May 11, for residents o NOTE: On May 11thth ONLY, we will open at 7am for registration. Registration – Tuesday, May 19th, for non-residents Spring Classes/Trips – Sign up early, trips fill on a first come, first serve basis. Please register at least one week prior to the class/trip start date so we can plan accordingly. A minimum number of registrants are required for programs to be held. The fitness room is FREE for bi-county residents (Prince Georges and Montgomery County) 60 & Better. You must present your membership card at the front desk in order to use the fitness room. FITNESS ROOMCards AND GYM WMATA Senior SmarTrip WMATA Senior SmartTrip cards for use on Metrorail, Metro bus, all regional bus systems, and parking at most Metro operated lots are sold at the center. To purchase a Senior SmarTrip card, you must be 65 years of age with a photo ID. The cost is $2. See our Langley Park Senior Activity Center front desk staff to purchase. LINE DANCING A great way to exercise to music. No experience necessary. Drop-in and join the fun!! Every Wednesday, 10am-Noon. COMPUTER LAB Seniors 60 & Better who have an M-NCPPC SMARTlink account may “drop-in” to use the lab during the designated drop-in times, 10:30am-3pm. Schedule is subject to change. INSPIRATIONAL HOUR Our very own senior volunteer Marie Fuller will lead interested seniors in an inspirational hour. Please note, the mode of transportation is not guaranteed and may be changed. Here are some of the vehicles we use: M-NCPPC Activity bus-small tan bus Senior Activity bus-medium sized, new white bus that seats 12 adults comfortably Commission bus-large (27 passenger), white bus Charter bus- a private company is contracted to provide a coach bus (typically 40-50 passengers). Note: When you see these feet, it means the activity requires a lot of walking. Trip refunds will only be granted if the spot can be resold. Washington Cardiovascular Institute Wednesday, June 3 FREE 10am-12:30pm A Clinical Vascular Specialist will be onsite to conduct a comprehensive evaluation using “duplex scanning,” a method that combines sonogram and ultrasound to provide images of the arteries to determine if a patient has peripheral artery disease (PAD)? Following the evaluation, the Specialist will discuss the outcome in private with the participant.
