 Fall Classes/Trips – Sign up early, trips fill on a first come, first serve basis.
Don’t wait and be too late! Please register at least one week prior to the class/trip start date so
we can plan accordingly.
A minimum number of registrants are required for programs to be held

Refresh your driving skills with the AARP Smart Drivers Course. You will learn defensive
driving techniques, proven safety strategies, and new traffic laws and rules of the road. There are
no tests to pass. You simply sign up and learn. Upon completion you may qualify for car
insurance premium discounts. Register online at AARP or call 301-775-7039. Bring your own
lunch or call our nutrition site manager at 301-439-3056 in advance to reserve your lunch for a
donation of $3. Payment is due by check or money order (no cash) to AARP the day of the
class.
Langley Park Senior Activity Center: Information
Important Information
Our Refund Policy:
1. 100% refunds are issued when M-NCPPC/LPSAC cancels an activity.
2. All other refunds are subject to a 20% Refund Administrative Fee.
3. All withdrawals/refunds must be processed by the facility offering the activity.
4. The Senior Activity Center Director must approve and process all requested refunds.
5. Trip refunds will only be issued only if the spot can be resold.
6. Class refunds MUST be requested prior to the course end. Refunds will NOT be issued
once the course has ended.
7. Refunds will not be issued for classes missed by the participant.
8. Cash refunds are not allowed.
9. Refunds can be issued: As an immediate credit to your SMARTlink account
As a credit on your credit card which can take 3 to 5 days to process
As a check which can take 3 to 4 weeks to process
Trip Transportation:
For your information, we include the mode of transportation used for our trips. Please note, the
mode of transportation is subject to change. Here are the vehicles we use:
 M-NCPPC Activity Bus –15 passenger white or tan bus
Note:
 Commission Bus – Large 27 passenger bus
When you see these feet with a
 Motor Coach Bus – 40-50 passenger bus with restroom
trip or activity, it means there will
be a lot of walking.
Trip Information:
Refunds will not be granted for cancellations unless trip is cancelled or spot is resold. Following all
trips, patrons will be asked to complete a trip evaluation. All trip registrants are expected to return
with the group to the center.
NO SMOKING POLICY
In accordance to Maryland State Law, effective June 30, 2016, there will be NO SMOKING on MNCPPC property. This includes vehicles, enclosed buildings and outdoors. Outdoor areas include
facility grounds, parking areas, parks, picnic areas, ballfields, etc.

Toby’s Dinner Theatre “Sister Act”

Based on the 1992 film of the same name, Sister Act tells the story of aspiring disco diva Deloris
Van Cartier. Trying to work her way to the top in 1970s Philadelphia, Deloris falls in love with a
very tough—and very married—gangster boyfriend named Curtis, and when Deloris witnesses him
commit a murder she ends up in hiding on police orders in a convent whose parish has fallen on
hard times. Though the sequin-free lifestyle doesn’t agree with her, Deloris finds her calling when
working with the choir, and breathes new life into the dusty convent while discovering a sisterhood

Explore the seven dimensions of wellness on the Highway to Health at our Active Aging Week
Kick-Off event! Check in at the Highway to Health Toll Booth to pick up your Roadmap. Then
simply follow the Highway to Health signs. Turn right onto Wellness Way and proceed to Wellness
Wayside Pavilion for health screenings. Then on to Sponsor Speedway to gather valuable senior
information and thank our event sponsors! Be sure to pull off at the Weigh Station before you
approach Music on the Greenway where you can listen to live music by Tooo Smooth Dudes and the
Senior Singing Sensations. Take the exit ramp to Arts Alley where you can cruise to various art
activities that put your imagination and creativity into gear! As you exit Arts Alley merge onto
Fitness Freeway filled with a variety of fitness activities where you can rev your engine and tune up
your motor! Then, slow down, save fuel, and take a pit stop on Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Roadway
to learn all about environmental health!
Limited transportation from the center is provided to this event. You must first register in
SMARTlink and then sign up separately for transportation at the center’s front desk. The activity
bus will depart at 9am and return at 12:30 pm.

Learn all about PATHS, which was developed to pair up our seasoned residents with one another.
Too often aging brings about isolation. Families are spread out all over the States and PATHS goals
are to create partners, friends and employment opportunities. Many seniors are active and want to
give back and help others who may need a little help or just a friendly voice. PATHS conducts
background checks on all helpers and provides customer service training. Refreshments provided
by PATHS.

Walk Your Way To A Healthier You
Join others at Langley Park who wants to improve their health by walking. Our walking program
meets every Monday and Friday at 9:30am. On your first visit, you will receive a punch card and a
pedometer. Each day you walk you will get your card punched. Come one day a week or two
whenever it is convenient for you.

Does incorporating the recommended 150 minutes per week of physical activity sound intimidating? You’re
likely not the only one! During this session, hosted by a member of the Suburban Hospital Community Health
and Wellness team, you will learn how to work up to 30 minutes of walking over the course of two weeks.
Then, along with your peers, sign up for a walking group to help each other stay focused on your goal. Just 30
minutes of brisk walking per day can significantly reduce your risks of many chronic diseases.

Did you know there are four recommended vaccinations for adults over the age of 60 and six for
those over the age of 65? How well are you protected from illnesses such as the flu, pneumonia,
and shingles? During this session you will hear from a nurse from the Prince George’s County
Health Department about what precautions you should take as you age. This session is sponsored
by Suburban Hospital. Vaccinations will not be given.

never happen to you, right? During this session you will hear from a community member who
survived a massive heart attack at age of 50. Hear her compelling story and get advice on how to
live your best life while reducing your risk of a cardiovascular incident. This session is sponsored by

Senior Nutrition Program
The Senior Nutrition Program is offered Monday
through Friday featuring a healthy, well-balanced
meal. Individuals who are 60 & better can reserve a
meal by contacting our Nutrition Manager, Austin
Simpson at (301) 439-3056 or by contacting the
Department of Family Services Nutrition Office at
301-265-8475.
You must register by 1pm the day before you would
like a meal, register by 1pm Friday for a Monday
meal.
The actual donation is $3.00. Please donate as much
as you can. If you need to cancel your meal, please
do so at least two (2) days in advance with Austin
Simpson, Nutrition Manager at (301) 439-3056.
Please bring exact change to cover your donation.
Coffee and donuts are available everyday 9am-11am.
Note: There will be no lunch program when Prince
George’s County schools have a delayed opening or
closed due to inclement weather conditions.
Reminder: Lunch is subject to change depending on
the Office on Aging’s schedule.
