Body and Blood of Christ Sunday May 29, 2016
Body and Blood of Christ Sunday May 29, 2016 Volume 36, Issue 22 I Can’t Wait What do we think of this amazing miracle story today of Jesus feeding 5,000 with loaves and fishes? That’s what I call a “happy meal”!! But if “Eucharist” means thanksgiving, then “Communion” to us means being the Body of Christ in union with everything that lives around us, and all those who have died, and those who are yet to be born. Do we feel thankful, and unified with this vast Catholic community, as we receive the Body and Blood of Jesus each Sunday? Or do we feel pretty crabby about being there at all? As one man said, “I don’t want to think any deeper, I just do the church thing and leave.” So he slips in and out of church, avoids eye contact and gives the bare minimum of response and involvement at Mass. PLEASE PRAY FOR: sick & shut in; Tella Major, Kevin Crotty, Hilda Mendoza, Norman Jansen, Madge Szlovicsak, Debbie Davis, Eddie Olson, Lydia Gervacio, Gene Leclair, David Thiele, Leandro Rodino Jr., Mike Makarenko, Lena Klassen, Delorus Lee, Aurora Pereira, Dawn Epaarachchi, George Davies, Gracie Formby, Delia Auzins, Madeline Lauener, Jim O’Brien, Velma Cronin, Silvia Gallagher, Helen Gaska, Sharon Petrunia, Nancy Arnold, Pat Horbay, Victoria Ruiz, Bernadette Leclair, Mabel O’Donnell, Carolyn Goertzen, Jacob Lloyd, Dario Dira, Leonie Faucher, Carol Armstrong, Rejeanne Lajoie, Roger Gagner, Gus Beauchamp, George Blakey, Lily Gallant, Lucy Gallant, Sandro Verrelli, Carol LeBlanc, Corry Van Den Brand, Roy Gregory, Ann Deighton, Sharon Klassen & all sick & shut in of our parish. May our Lord sustain, comfort & heal them through faith. Welcome to New Parishioners These families registered in April: Armando & Cristine Angue, Erick & Carrie Ann Caparros, Frankie das Santos, Chi Le, Gerry & Jennifer Martinez, Densnis & Bonnie Matsalla, Michael & Sonia Riglietti, A. Roxas, Patti-Lea Ryan, Welcome! Welcome New Members of Our Faith Community Welcomed in April: Erica Caparros & Jonas Weiss-Feldhaus, Congratulations! PARISH FAITH FORMATION There is a way to make this a happy meal, not a “church thing”! Let’s try to get into the spirit of the people in the gospel today: “Hey, pass some of that bread and fish back here—I can’t wait!” So as you drive to church next Sunday, think on these things: “I can’t wait to receive Jesus’ Body and Blood; that’s my source of strength for the whole week. It’s amazing--I’m part of his Body in real time! it changes everything in my life.” “I can’t wait to express my gratitude for my life and my gifts, and to hear everyone else giving thanks. We can’t take Jesus into our hearts without giving thanks for everything.” Parish Schedule Mon.
