MEADOW OOD HAPPENINGS - Meadowood Baptist Church
May 2015 MEADOWOOD HAPPENINGS May Happenings at MBC May is a busy month for Meadowood Baptist Church. We have so much to celebrate with our families who have new additions and those reaching milestones in their lives. It is also a month to honor our Mothers for all that they do for us. The older I get the more I appreciate all that my mother sacrificed for me, my sister and my two brothers. She worked tirelessly to make sure that we had what we needed and we always knew we were loved. Please make time on Sunday, May 10th, to let your mother know how much she means to you. At Meadowood Baptist Church we will have “Muffins with Mom” at the end of our 8:15 worship and before Sunday School time at 9:30 in the Foyer as well as recognition during our morning worship services. Baby Dedication is part of our services on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10th. During our 10:45 Worship Service we celebrate new additions to your family and our church family. We are so blessed by the babies who have come into our church’s life in the past year. Parents, if you would like your child to participate, please get a form, fill it out and return it to the Church Office by Monday, May 4. Please come and be a part of this special service as these children are dedicated to the Lord. High School Graduate Recognition is to be held on Sunday, May 17 during our 10:45 Morning Worship Service. This service is a great time to let our students know how proud of them we are and to hear what their future plans are. Please come and be a part of this service. There will be memory tables set up in the Foyer for each student to display what they have accomplished during the past 12 years of high school. Parents or students will need to pick up a form and return it to the Church Office by Monday, May 11. Please see the Student Ministry section for more details. We have several who will be graduating this year and we all want you here to share this special service with Meadowood. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8 NONFICTION: Before Amen by Max Lucado. Prayer is a lifeline, a beacon of hope that we can cling to in life’s difficult moments...Lord, please protect my family....God, I need your help to make it though today...Jesus, thank you for your grace...it goes on and on. Prayer is the most necessary and most basic expression of our faith, yet we often struggle to do it. The daily duties of life crowd in, filling our days with activity and we don’t communicate with our Heavenly Father. Thankfully, we aren’t the first followers to struggle with prayer, the disciples did too. FICTION: Dandelion Summer by Lisa Wingate. All of her life, Epiphany Salerno has been tossed like a dandelion seed in the wind. Now, at sixteen, she must move to the lowrent side of Blue Sky Hill with her indifferent mother. Half Italian and half-African-American, Epie doesn’t fit in. Even worse, she must work where she’s not wanted, in an upscale home on The Hill. J Norman Alvord’s daughter has hired a teenager to stay with him in the afternoons. Widowed and suffering from heart trouble, Norman wants to be left alone. STUDENT MINISTRY NEWS High School Graduate Recognition is Sunday, May 17, during our 10:45 Worship Service. Seniors will have an opportunity to share what the future holds for them during the service. Forms are available that need to be filled out and turned back in to the Church Office by Monday, May 11. Also, there will be memory tables set up that you may decorate with items from your trip through school. The tables will be set up for you to decorate Wednesday May 13 after services through Saturday, May 16. Get with Bro. Dave on the times for Saturday. Thank you to Bro. Dave for his service as our Youth Minister for the last 2 years. We wish you, Jennifer, John Logan & Hudson the very best! May God bless you and Jennifer in your future endeavors! We will miss you.... Angels Walking, Book 1 by Karen Kingsbury. When former national baseball star Tyler Ames suffers a career-ending injury, all he can think about is putting his life back together the way it was before. He has lost everyone he loves on his way to the big leagues. Then just when things seem to be turning around, Tyler hits rock bottom. A team of Angels Walking take on the mission to restore hope for Tyler and his first love, Sami Dawson. Can unseen actions bring healing and redemption?
