So sayeth Benjamin Franklin a few years ago! And wise words
indeed… I think of that often, whenever I make a new discovery
and the Crabshell drinks list is full of these moments. The ones
that make you smile to be alive and ready to savour all that’s
yet to come.

Classic varietal Pinot Grigio with light citrus fruit flavours and clean palate.
Light straw colour with pale green hues. Intense and floral nose with aromas of lime,
pineapple and a clean grass undertone. From the lush Curico Valley.
The ancient kingdom of Navarra, partly Basque, nestles in the shadow of the Pyrenees.
A golden yellow Chardonnay with floral aroma and a hint of cinnamon spice displaying
both a lively freshness, creamy texture and long fruity flavour with exotic notes.
Made from loureiro grape variety, this wine presents a fresh floral nose with honeyed
citrus aromas. Well balanced acidity and minerals contribute to a clean, persistent finish
with a light prickle of fizz.
Rioja Blanco Azabache, Bodegas Aldeanuva (Rioja/Spain)
Bright greenish straw yellow, it has a strong fruit bouquet with intense citrus and apple
aromas. Smooth on the palate with lingering freshness and a dry palate.

Picpoul de Pinet, Trois Mats (Languedoc/France) £22.45
This wine offers an intense nose of ripe tropical fruit and citrus. Refined and elegant,
displaying a finely textured palate with flavours of guava and stone fruit.
Wonderfully expressive with a dry refreshing finish.
The Albarino variety yields fresh elegant wines with a captivating floral bouquet.
Selected from the best vineyards, the wine is a brilliant straw colour with golden
glints. Fresh fruit flavours with a powerful long finish. It is believed that Albarino
is a distant relative to the Riesling grape with which it shares a fresh racy palate.
The Fevre family have been associated with the finest Chablis for many generations.
Floral aromas and fresh apple and mineral character abound in this traditional Chablis
from an exceptional family estate.
A bright, fresh Languedoc white from the coastal flatlands of Sete which abounds with
fragrant aromas of white flowers and citrus. It is lively on the palate with notes of lemon,
melon and honey finishing crisp and dry with matured crystallised citrus fruits.
Chablis, Domaine Gautheron (Burgundy/France)
The Gautheron estate has been family owned for five generations making very traditional
Chablis from 18ha of vineyard. Their Chablis offers fresh, floral aromas, appley fruit
and complex, rich mineral character derived from the subtle influence of the chalky
vineyard soils. Fermentation and maturation is in vat to preserve the fresh steely flavours
and lively balanced citrus finish.

A soft and appealing Languedoc Merlot from mature vines at La Motte originally
planted by pioneering winemaker James Herrick. Well balanced and concentrated
with blackcurrant. It has a nose of ripe berry fruit and a supple palate finishing
with herbs, violets and blackberry fruit.
Well balanced with complex rich, expressive cassis palate and a hint of smoky
American oak. Soft tannins and intense red berry fruit continue on the long finish
with flavours of dark chocolate and spice.
A rich Douro red with plum, cherry and mineral elements and complex with a firm
grip of tannins, typical of the region. Smooth and sexy.
Rioja Tinto Crianza ‘Edicion Limitada’, Ramon Bilbao (Rioja/Spain)
Bright deep cherry red, with intense aromas of black berries and touches of coconut
and liquorice. Fresh and beautifully balanced in the mouth, with a long and enfolding
finish. Produced from 40yr old vines. A staff favourite.

Cabernet Sauvignon ‘Es Vino’, Finca Sophenia (Mendoza/Argentina)

Every so often a wine comes along and simply blows you away and recently this
is the one. An absolute stand out Pinot. 16 months in oak this redefines New World Pinot
at an affordable price.
Deep red in colour with black fruit hues. Great aromatic intensity with blackcurrant,
raspberry and interesting eucalyptus and mint hints. In the mouth, it shows firm
and silky tannins of great balance and concentration.
Malbec ‘Alpatico’, Familia Schroeder (Patagonia/Argentina)

Chateau Tanesse Premieres Cotes de Bordeaux (Bordeaux/France) £26.25
Complex nose with a combination of red fruits such as cherries and a hint of violets.
Smooth mouth feel, this is a fresh and fruity wine that carries vanilla and caramel
notes from ageing in small oak barrels.
This fantastic chartreuse property is owned by Eric Gonfier and it is among the best
of the appellation, producing firm, rich wine from predominately Merlot and
Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. A smooth easy drinking red with an extra depth of softness,
some subtle oak, ripe tannins, and an excellent balance.
Rioja Tinto Crianza ‘Edicion Limitada’, Ramon Bilbao (Rioja/Spain) Made from old Tempranillo vines, this oak fermented Rioja has red berry, plum and
cherry aromas that are followed by smoked notes on the palate, with well structured
tannins and a balanced finish.

A bright salmon pink rosé that offers summer attractive bouquet redolent of summer
fruits including strawberry and watermelon and a hint of sweetness lingering on
a crisp finish.
Sacha Lichine is a man of pedigree. His father of Russian decent and American
mother had built their wealth and reputation with a Bordeaux business which included
Chateau Prieurie Lichine and Lascombe in Margaux. Sacha has continued with the
family tradition for innovation, by drawing on his wide experience of wine making.
They are southern French with a distinct New World accent
Whispering Angel, Chateau D’Esclans (Provence/France)
A pale partridge eye pink with perfumed bouquet, which follows with elegant summer
fruits and beautifully integrated balancing acidity. Made from a blend of old vines grown
on the Esclans estate by Burgundian winemaking techniques resulting in a rounded and
expressive Provence rosé with unusual complexity.
