Then your light shall break forth like the dawn”. We are called to be disciples who bring the light of Christ’s love and mercy to the world. There are many ways that we can do this. We can do this by giving of our time to those who are in need whether it be spiritually in need, physically in need or emotionally in need. We can be that light to help others if we place our trust in God and allow his Spirit to work through us. We can also do this by our support of the Church. By our generosity to the work of the Church we can help support those who are bringing the healing that people need. We can provide help whether here in our parish by our weekly contributions to support the work of our parish or by our support of the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal. Each of us has special gifts and talents to offer. Whether it’s with our prayers offered for others, our physical time and activities, or by our financial support we all can make a difference. The New and Revised OLGC Web site Hallelujah, our revised “OLGC Web site” is up and running. We were able to launch it this past week. We think you will find it to be well done, attractive and informative. We still have some fine tuning to do on it, but it is looking good. You can find our bulletin on it, schedules and Religious Education news and parish activities. If you do spot something that needs correcting e-mail us about it. We want to thank Susannah Devine of Devine Design for giving us this wonderful new Web site. So check us out at www.olgcwt.org. Parish Calendar Raffle We hope that each of you have sold as many Raffle Tickets as you can for our parish “Calendar Raffle”. It is not too late to join the Raffle there are still almost three months to go. You will be eligible for all the prizes from the moment the tickets are handed in. Remember the raffle runs until April 30th!! Your odds of winning are better than the Lottery. As we have said it is our fervent prayer that everyone will make an effort to sell all of the raffle chances. Our parish fundraising efforts are extremely important in helping us to make up the deficit from our weekly collections. Finally, I will be getting away with my classmate Fr. Michael Santoro this week. We are setting sail on Sunday heading toward Bahamas. Pray for us because we are sailing on the Royal Caribbean Ship, “The Explorer of the Seas” which had problems with sickness on board two weeks ago. We are hoping for fair weather and smooth sailing. We hope it will be nice and warm for some needed R& R. I hope to have guest columnist for next two weeks. In the meantime let us continue to pray for our parish and for each other. May God bless you, Fr. Stephen Cinque SANCTUARY LAMP The Sanctuary Lamp will burn during the week of February 9th for the intentions of Stella and John Picarella. There is still a great need for nonperishable food, paper products, personal hygiene items, etc. And as always monetary donations are accepted and turned into Shoprite gift cards. The suggested donation for the week of February 9th is Soups. WORLD DAY FOR CONSECRATED LIFE - This Sunday in our Cathedral Basilica we celebrate World Day for Consecrated Life. We recognize and give thanks for those who have consecrated their lives to God and the Church through the vows of poverty, chastity and obedience. Some join a religious congregation or a secular institute. Others remain single and make a profession to God through the local bishop and are known as consecrated virgins. The consecrated life is one way that men and women live out their baptismal commitment as followers of Jesus. “SHARE YOUR TALENTS AND IDEAS WITH OTHERS AT OLGC” - The OLGC community invites you to join the parish as we strive to grow as a Catholic family. The Pastoral Council is reaching out to all parishioners to help them assist our church by contributing with their own knowledge, experiences, and ideas. The goal is to utilize and discuss the talents and opinions of other OLGC members in order to make our parish an even better place to grow and enjoy in various ways. Please contact George Toole at 201-954-5286, or leave your suggestions and information at the rectory. CASINO NIGHT - Plans are underway for our Casino Night scheduled for Saturday, March 29th. We are currently looking for prizes to be either donated or discounted. Nothing is too small (we can add them in our baskets), too big (we will gladly pick-up). Items such as unwanted gift cards, gifts from the holidays or even services from your business. We only ask that they be new not used items. Contact Claudia Carroll at 201-664-1679. CONGRATULATIONS to this week’s winners of our calendar raffle. STEWARDSHIP REFLECTIONS ‘Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 - The generosity of being a good steward of your gifts has a positive effect on people and it is contagious! Good works encourage more good works. Let your light shine! Be careful to recognize that God is working through you and don’t put yourself above the people you have been called to help.
