Jesus in his appearances to the Apostles wants to calm them and make them realize he has fulfilled his mission and begins to prepare them for their role as Apostles and disciples. He tells them in today’s Gospel: “Peace be with you, as the Father has sent me, so I send you”. Jesus’ time on earth will be ending shortly as he will ascend to the Father and the Holy Spirit on Ascension Day. He wants to strengthen his disciples during these days to be ready to go out and proclaim the Good News. We also have the story St. Thomas featured in our Gospel today for his doubting the Resurrection of Jesus. Thomas states: “Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands and put my finger into the nail marks and put my hand into his side, I will not believe”. When Thomas saw Jesus in the upper room he proclaimed: “My Lord and my God”, and believed. After this Jesus speaks directly to us. He tells Thomas: “You have believed because you have seen but blessed are those who have not seen and have believed”. All of us have become disciples and have believed because of the witness of those who have gone before us. Our mission as Baptized Disciples is to witness to the faith in our daily lives so that we may be able to bring others to believe. This was, this is, and this always will be Jesus’ plan until that glorious day when he comes again. We Are Living Stones Capital Campaign Our Living Stones Campaign continues. If you have not yet made your pledge to the Capital Campaign, there is still plenty of time to do so. The Campaign will run for the next four years so please make your pledge today. If you lost your pledge envelope we have them in the vestibule of the Church and Marian Center as well as the rectory. As of today we are at about 30% of our goal. May God bless you, Fr. Stephen Cinque ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS The Archdiocese is once again preparing the annual tradition of honoring those couples in the Archdiocese who will be celebrating five, twenty-five and fifty years of Christian marriage in 2016. Very often individuals of families living with developmental, intellectual and/or other disabilities do not feel welcome attending their local parish liturgy, although they are very welcome. These are the people and families, in particular, that we are welcoming to attend these Masses and to celebrate the Eucharist with other members of the surrounding community.
