On Monday 25th November Wattle Cluster visited Perth Zoo. After a snack, we went to the Touch Table! We learned about feral animals for example foxes and goats. Next, we went to the reptile room. We touched some turtle and tortoise shells. The Frill Necked Lizards were fed live crickets. After that we went to the art and craft room to make Super Stars. We ‘reused’ pictures from old 2011 calendars. Next we all had lunch together and then played on the playground. In our groups we looked and walked around the zoo. The penguins were cute and so were the elephant tricks. Did you know that elephant’s brains are four times larger than our own? It was an awesome day out! For those parents who have helped in any way - and so many have - we would like you to join us for morning tea. For catering purposes, please phone Dianne or Natalie at the School Office on 9332 3244 if you are able to join us. Celebration Night Our Celebration night is on Tuesday, 17 December on the Wattle Netball Court. Children will need to be at their classroom at 5.00pm. The teachers will then walk their children out to the Wattle Netball Court at 5.20pm and the Edu Dance Performance will commence at 5.30pm. Everyone is most welcome to join us for a great evening. Classes for 2014 We are in the process of formulating classes for 2014. We have a group of new students joining us in the new year and a group of students leaving us - approximately equal numbers. Some of our students are going to other countries, other states of Australia and also to a variety of other suburbs - we wish these families well in their new homes. If you have not advised me or our Office ladies that you are leaving the school at the end of the year would you please do this as soon as possible. This information will assist greatly with our planning for 2014. Thank you again to those families who have given us this information since our last newsletter. In the past fortnight we have learned that three of our students will not be at Bull Creek Primary School. In that time we have enrolled four new students. Newsletters In order to cut down on overall costs - photocopier use and paper - we will no longer be providing paper copies of the Newsletter from the start of 2014. The Newsletter has been available online since 2011 - you may download it from our website (www.bullcreekps.wa.edu.au) or subscribe to receive the newsletter via email. This system is used increasingly in schools and it is one we encourage. Honour Certificates Congratulations to Honour Certificate Recipients for 22 November 2013. We played outdoor and indoor games from all over the world and had a great time with not an electronic game in sight! Multicultural Week 2013 was enjoyed by all. We celebrated all the great things that all cultures have brought to our school that also helps to make our country an exciting, vibrant and interesting place to live. Some of the many highlights included the delicious food kindly brought in by our parents, toys and games from around the world, excellent artwork created by the students and a fantastic assembly with a gorgeous Chinese dance, incredible Diablo tricks and talented musicians playing instruments and singing songs from around the world. To all who helped to put the week together, a very big thank you from the staff of Bull Creek Primary School. TALKING WITH YOUR CHILDREN ABOUT BYSTANDERS Bullying involves more than the students who are bullied and those who bully others. Ninety-one per cent of children (in primary school) report having witnessed/seen bullying occurring. Bullying often continues because people who are involved do not talk about it and seek help. This includes people who observe bullying – the bystanders. A bystander is someone who sees the bullying or knows that it is happening to someone else. What can Bystanders do? If children see another child being bullied they could: • Ask a teacher or support person for help; • Let the person doing the bullying know that what they are doing is bullying; • Refuse to join in with the bullying and walk away; • Support the student who is being bullied; and • Support their friends and protect them from bullying by being there for them (children who are alone are more likely to be the target of bullying, so encourage your children to be aware of children who are left out or on their own in the playground). 5 Microsoft Office Publisher Clipart ATTACHMENTS & FLYERS 6 Microsoft Office Publisher Clipart ATTACHMENTS & FLYERS Disclaimer : Please be aware that the school does not necessarily endorse all advertising. 7 Microsoft Office Publisher Clipart ATTACHMENTS & FLYERS Disclaimer : Please be aware that the school does not necessarily endorse all advertising. 8 Microsoft Office Publisher Clipart ATTACHMENTS & FLYERS Disclaimer : Please be aware that the school does not necessarily endorse all advertising. 9 Microsoft Office Publisher Clipart ATTACHMENTS & FLYERS Disclaimer : Please be aware that the school does not necessarily endorse all advertising. 10 Microsoft Office Publisher Clipart
