Of course, the children do not attend school on this day. Our teachers will be meeting with other teachers from a range of schools - Bateman, Oberthur, Rossmoyne, Shelley, Riverton and some of the Year 8 teachers from Rossmoyne Senior High School - which are part of our local Network. The meetings will be held at Rossmoyne, Riverton and Shelley Primary Schools. Some of the day relates to the new Australian Curriculum. At Rossmoyne Primary School Year 6 to Year 8 teachers will be discussing and planning for our Year 6 and 7 students commencing high school in 2015. Semester One Reports Semester One reports were sent home yesterday. I am generally very pleased with the standards the children are achieving. I am equally pleased with the lessons I see and hear as I visit classrooms. Also in various situations I regularly witness the interest parents have in their children’s school. I encourage all parents to keep in contact with their child’s teacher and if necessary arrange for an interview if you have any particular concerns. Language Perfect Program At last Friday’s assembly several children received certificates for the Language Perfect Online German Program. It is a wonderful program to consolidate and extend children’s knowledge of German vocabulary. It is also a great opportunity for children to engage in an on-line learning program. Several of the certificate recipients were in the top 10% of the 300 000 students world wide who participated in this year’s Language Perfect Program. Wattle 7 Class Item Our Year 1 children from Wattle 7 deserve high praise for their very vibrant and entertaining class item based on the writings of the famous American poet and cartoonist Dr Theodore Seuss. The children delighted the audience with their “Hop on Pop” skit. They also recited their poem entitled, “Reading Oath”. Their costumes were bright and their enthusiasm was incredible. Many thanks also to Mrs Austin and Mrs Sumastra for their extraordinary work with the children. Well done Wattle 7.
