I initially began my career with a three year camera apprenticeship and I have also written for over 40 magazines on digital film making. Feature Films “THE RIDDLE” (35MM FILM) GROSVENOR PARK PRODS DIRECTOR: BREDAN FOLEY An ambitious London sports journalist, a police press officer and a tramp team up to solve a series of murders that follow the discovery of an unpublished manuscript by Charles Dickens. Starring Vinnie Jones, Derek Jacobi and Vanessa Redgrave, The Riddle was the first movie in the world to be premiered as a free newspaper DVD, increasing The Mail on Sunday’s circulation by 300,000. The film’s budget was £5m & was edited on Avid Film Composer. Episode 3 examines how genetic technologies already impact on our day-to-day lives. “GUNPOWDER PLOT: EXPLODING THE LEGEND” ITV1/DARLOW SMITHSON DIRECTOR MIKE SLEE Presented by Richard Hammond, this 90 minute spectacular answered the question about whether or not Guy Fawkes attempt to blow up the medieval House of Lords would have succeeded. A full size replica of the medieval House of Lords was built in Cumbria and blown up with 36 barrels of spoiled gunpowder. “AFRICAN SCHOOL” (EP1 & EP4 ) BBC4/OU/LION TV DIRECTOR NICKI STOKER Focusing on two schools in Uganda, Episode 1 dealt with school fees and Episode 4 highlighted the system of pregnancy testing at the Primary School. Show Me The Money won the UNESCO prize at the Monte Carlo Television awards and the Millennium Development Goals award at the One World Broadcasting Trust Awards. “WEAPONS THAT MADE BRITAIN” ARMOUR CHANNEL 4/LION TV DIRECTOR: TOM MCCARTHY Weapons expert Mike Loades examines the classic and enduring image of the medieval battlefield: the knight in armour. Exploring the development of armour against the development of weapons, the programme scientifically tests the equipment to see if it really would have protected the soldiers that wore it. “THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR” TOTAL WAR DISCOVERY CHANEL/EMP DIRECTOR: ROSS BRADLEY Focusing on the year 1863 when it seemed there was no end in sight to the fighting, this programme examines the crucial events that helped the Union win the American Civil War, notably during the war’s turning point at the Battle of Gettysburg. Promos (a small selection) “BUILDING OUR BRAND” TRAVELEX GLOBAL EXCHANGE Part of a series of promo films I edited for Travelex showing their close links with worldwide sport and brand awareness. LINGERIE: WINTER COLLECTION MARKS AND SPENCER A film introducing the new Salon Rose range and other lingerie classics for M&S. The film was used in their flagship stores. Skills With my many years of editing experience (using all editing platforms - Avid, Final Cut Pro, Media 100 etc.) I have a strong sense of narrative and an understanding of what makes a good story. I have also been trained to be a multi-skilled technician. My three year camera apprenticeship and further experiences taught me all aspects of filming from lighting basic interviews to special effects shots on blue-screen. I’m comfortable using all types of video camera from lipstick cams to state of the art Sony F900 HDCAMS. My passion for writing has been utilised in many different forms and I have written for many different publishers, including Future Publishing, Highbury Paragon and CMP Information. I also have an understanding of computer graphics and can use applications like After Effects and Photoshop. I have a strong interest in modern history and I have an in-depth knowledge of most wars of the 20th Century, and also the weapons and technology used in them.
