June 2016 Newsletter - Trinity Friends Church
A Church for the Whole Family
Volume 44
Issue 6 June 2016
There will be no evening
service on Sunday, June 19.
Dear friends,
Marilee and I were privileged to go to our denomination’s Pastor’s Conference at
Oglebay Resort near Wheeling, West VA. It was perhaps the best one to which I have ever
gone. Marilee and I enjoyed spending time with our Associate Pastor Steve Heilshorn and
his wife, Leslie. We also enjoyed meeting some new pastoral couples, and seeing old
friends as well. Naturally, seeing our middle son, Pastor Rusty Savage, his wife, Kara, and
their three children (our grandchildren!), Henry (age 5), Stella (age 2) and Graham (five
months old), was a highlight of our time too!
Our parental pride soared as Rusty shared a portion of the report by our denominational committee, working with a church consultant to help devise a plan to reorganize and
re-vision our denominational to be more effective in its future. He did terrific, as did other
committee members too. Rusty also preached one of the services from 1 Timothy 6:11
(NIV 2016): But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness,
faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Rusty preached on Gentleness - a topic you don’t
hear about much these days!
But the greatest joy at Pastor’s Conference for Marilee was when our son shared
that his Henry had prayed and asked Jesus to come into his heart at a session of the children’s program! Praise our God and our Lord Jesus Christ who STILL saves!!!
Along a different line, I want to report to you and update you on an important issue: upgrading and improving our sound system in the sanctuary, along with improving
and upgrading our projection system too. The Audio/Visual Committee has had several
meetings working through this process. And we will move a major step forward after Sunday, May 22 when Chris Jett, a sound consultant, comes to sit in on our 10:30 service,
evaluating our equipment - what is working and what is not! - and hearing our worship
team so he can advise us on how to get better and clearer sound; how to control some of
the current problem of lots of sound waves bouncing around our sanctuary. After we have
his input, we should be able to begin to take steps to get our systems corrected.
Thanks to those who have given towards this project - it is a BIG one for us!
Thanks for your patience - I know it doesn’t seem like we have made much progress, but
we have. And I certainly hope we will make even more progress in the very near future.
We will try to keep you apprised.
Respectfully yours,
WEDDING WONDERS!
Pastor Steve reports that he was privileged
to marry two couples from our church: Scott
Baber married Marissa Gunter on April 16, and
Nathan McMaster married Ariel Baker on
May14. Both couples are saved and allowed
me to share their personal testimonies at their
wedding ceremonies. Both couples also requested that I would preach the Gospel at their
ceremonies, which I gladly did.
Marrying young couples who are in Christ,
and whom I have come to love is exciting in
itself, but there is an even more exciting thing
that happened in one of the weddings. When I
gave the invitation to pray the Sinner’s Prayer
and ask Jesus to come into one’s heart, I had
three people who raised a hand to acknowledge that they had done so! How amazing is
God’s love and mercy and grace. He STILL
saves, and that is Wonderful indeed.

PRAISE
JAM- You’ve been
asking for it. We’ve been praying
about it, and now it’s here! Praise
Jam!! Come out for a night of worship, June 10 at 7 pm. This is a
night you won’t want to miss. The
body of Christ here in our community
is coming together to worship our
King, Jesus. Trinity Friends worship
team, Craig Alix and Calvary Evangelical Church, Eric Burke with Living
Truth Ministries, and Brenda Dye with
the Church of God worship team are
coming together for this worship experience. The heart of this “jam” is
to worship God because He is good. Yes, we want to have a great time.
Yes, we want to eat food (because food is awesome, yeah?) Yes, we
want to hear awesome music, but we recognize that this is not about us.
This is about God. We are prayerfully expecting the Holy Spirit to show
up and glorify the name of Jesus. We are seeking to come before His
throne with fellow believers to worship in spirit and in truth. Let’s pack
the Family Life Center out to praise the King!
The Bible says this of worship:
1 Chronicles 16:23-26 “Sing to the Lord, all the earth; proclaim his
salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples. For great is the Lord and most worthy of
praise; he is to be feared above all gods.”
John 4:23-24 *Jesus speaking* “Yet a time is coming and has NOW
come when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth
for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his
worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.”
Romans 12:1-2 “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s
mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to Godthis is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the
pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-his good, pleasing & perfect will.”
Let's gather together, and worship. See you there!
Hello! Thank
you everyone who
has been praying for
our children’s program. God is moving and
we are constantly seeing
new faces. Now that LOL is over, big thanks to all who
help and pray for this program. I want to thank Julie
Doner, Kim Saylor, Kelly Jones, Lisa Nolan, Seth
Owens, Lisa Pugh, and Shelly Eberly for helping out.
We ended the year with a bang and had a mustache
party. So much fun! Our Sunday night program has
come to an end. We will be having an end of the year
party and celebrating how much God has done for us.
We now have a Kids Connection Booth that
will be the place to get information on all of the kids
ministry events. This will be such a great convenience
to be able to distribute material and information. We
are also making more improvements upstairs, one of
which, is a kids library!
MEGA Sports Camp (VBS) will be June 20th22nd from 9:00-11:30. The Christian Education
Committee, has been working hard getting
everything together. Also, coming up on
September 11th, we will be starting our first
ever Little Patriots. This group will be held
once a month and kids will be taught our
history as a country and how Christianity
played a huge role in the founding of
this country. We need to teach kids
how to stand up at a young age!
Parents are encouraged to attend
with their children. This is for
ages 3rd-8th.

Like children,
