DECEMBER Outreach and Service Opportunities
Our 2012 Christmas Offering is a wonderful way to celebrate
the ministry of the Christian Church Capital Area Region.
Whether it’s the summer camping programs at Bethany Beach
or Mary Mac, the support given to candidates for ministry, or
the assistance our Regional Minister Lari Grubbs gives to
churches in the Search and Call process, our Region serves as a
collective witness to our shared faith.
HOW ARE OUR CAPITAL AREA REGIONAL MINISTRIES FUNDED?
(Based on the projected 2012 receipts)
 Disciples Mission Fund = 50% of what is given comes to the Region.
 Christmas Offering = 100%
 Annual Fund = 3.2%
 Camps and Events = 13.9%
 Outside rentals of Camps & Conference Centers = 24.2%
 Grants = 10.5% (most are designated)
 Dividends = 10.4% (most are designated
 Field Receipts = .2% (Honorariums, funds given to Regional Minister for preaching,
congregational visits, etc.)
 Christian Church Foundation (Indianapolis) = 2.2%
 Other = 6.1%
The Christmas Offering is the one special day offering that we collect each year which
stays — 100% — within our own region.
Help Support Bethesda Cares, a community outreach program for the

ANGEL TREE
“Be An Angel….” and make a Gift to Cordell Place — the newest housing program for men
and women provided by the Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless . Take an Angel
off the poster you will see in the Glass way, put your name on the angel and hang it on the
Christmas Tree. Purchase the gift card indicated and return it (in a gift envelope marked
“Cordell Place”) , by Sunday, DECEMBER 16.
Help make someone’s Christmas merrier this year!
North Chevy Chase Christian Church Permanent Endowment Fund
Have you ever sat in prayer and contemplation and pondered the question,
“what can I do, or what more can I do?”
There is a way of making a difference forever in Christian service. It can be found in supporting the North Chevy Chase Christian Church Permanent Fund established in 2007. This fund,
which stands apart from the annual budget and is maintained through our Christian Church
Foundation in Indianapolis, allows NCCCC to expand mission and witness in our community and
in the world beyond.
With the opening deposit of $38,604.81 and additional contributions of $542,104.16 in gifts
and bequests the fund is growing! For the first time this year, we received a distribution back to
the church in the amount of $17,776 which was used for outreach, capital improvements, and
other ministries. Recently a contribution was received in honor of the ministry of the Rev. G.
Diane Knight. Our sincere thanks goes out those, who in this manner, have expressed their devotion to our church and our Lord.
You can plan for giving to the Permanent Fund in one of two ways:
a
by donating now to the Endowment (stocks, bonds, real estate, tangible
property, or cash) and/or
b.
by naming North Chevy Chase Christian Church as beneficiary of a
bequest/estate, charitable trust or gift annuity
By making a gift to North Chevy Chase Christian Church through the Permanent Endowment
fund, you can leave a legacy of mission and ministry that will undergird God’s work in the
world through the church for years to come.
We invite you to prayerfully consider making a gift to the North Chevy Chase Christian Church
Permanent Endowment Fund. If you have questions, please contact me or one of the Permanent Endowment Fund Trustees: Buzzy Barnard, Laird Thomason, Nancy Longo, and Sally
Coberly.

Charles McGee, Chair
