RECENT SUCCESS
New Laboratory Improves Health Care
The new laboratory within the Kuršumlija Health Centre
was built with the financial support from the European
Union and the Government of Switzerland through EU
PROGRES worth 62,286 Euros.
The laboratory was opened at the beginning of October
2013 and it provides more workspace, which allows
more patients to be treated. Thus, the waiting time for
the analysis decreased by 50%. Besides the
bio-chemical examinations, this Laboratory can also
expand the services to micro-biological analysis.
Since the old Laboratory had been placed at the loft of
the building, the new building allows better access to
health care to people with disabilities. According to the
plan, the newly constructed Laboratory should perform
around 115,000 analyses every year. The municipality of
Kuršumlija has provided 43,960 Euros co-funding for
this project.
