Summer 2016
The Dallas Alumnae Club of Pi Beta Phi
Pi Beta Phi Founders’ Day Celebrated on April 22nd
Our
2016
Founders’
Day
Celebration was glorious as we
celebrated 149 years of Pi Beta Phi!
It was beautifully chaired by Anne
Bradley, Whitney Kielwasser and
Carla Swenson. The day began with
the Founders’ Day Tribute, presented
by twelve darling SMU actives. We
then celebrated five very deserving
Dallas Alumnae Club Award
Recipients: Cara Gravely French,
Anne Mewhinney Monning, Jamie
McComiskey Moore, Lisa Hughes
Reid, and Anna Raines Voss. These
ladies selflessly have given their time
and talents in extraordinary ways
to Pi Phi and our community. We
honored three Diamond Arrows:
Ruth Collins Altshuler, Mary
Jean Johnson Manning, and Lucy
Nunn Bryan. We were thrilled to
present Ruth Altshuler with her
Diamond Arrow, and she regaled us
with humorous stories of her college
days with Mary Jean Manning. Mary
Jean had received her Diamond
Arrow earlier, as she was unable to
join us that day. Sadly, Lucy Nunn
Bryan passed away just a few months
earlier, and her Diamond Arrow
was accepted by her daughter, Janie
Bryan Loveless. The following nine
Golden Arrows were celebrated:
Nancy Neath Allen, Susan
Touchstone Campbell, Bonnie
Sears Cox, Sally Grayson Cullum,
Bobette DeLay Dunn, Ann Horton
Marcus, Ann Ingraham Shillig,
Linda Hammontree Svehlak and
Jacquelyn Ryan Wynne. We were
fortunate to have Paula Shepherd
and Mary Tatum, our current and
past Grand Presidents, share this
very special day with us!

Pi Beta Phi “Celestial Celebration” Honors our Donors
Our Celestial Celebration was held on Thursday, April 7, at the beautiful home of Alan and Randy Engstrom to honor our wonderful
donors. It was a heavenly event chaired by Robin Lewis and Celia Crank with Karen Shuttee and Jamie Moore heading up our Underwriting
Campaign! The generosity of these donors at every level enabled us to fulfill the pledges that we made to four very important agencies,
which do so much in our community to support family literacy.

Because of the generosity of all of the donors to our Celestial
Celebration, we are delighted to announce that we are able to
donate $15,000 to the Pi Beta Phi Foundation. This donation
will be directed to the Dallas Alumnae Club/Ann Dudgeon
Phy Scholarship Fund which is held at the Foundation. This
scholarship was established in January of 1998 and has been
awarded to 17 deserving Pi Phis over the years.
We make this donation in honor of our own Ann Phy, who
has given so much to Pi Phi. She was a charter Member
of the Pi Beta Phi Foundation and served as President for
five years. In 2010 she received the permanent designation as
Foundation President Emerita.
Thank you, Ann!!

GRETA GALBRAITH
Julie Miller, President – Elect,
for her support, friendship and
guidance. She will be a fabulous
president next year!
Greta Bernet Galbraith, a graduate from Highland Park
High School, pledged Pi Phi at the University of Texas at
Austin in 2013. Her freshman year, Greta served as one of
her pledge class Social Chairs and enjoyed planning and
organizing events throughout the year. The summer before
her Junior year, Greta served as Assistant Vice President of
Membership and absolutely loved having a big leadership
role during recruitment. In addition to being a part of
the Pi Phi Scholarships Committee, Greta, among others,
represented Pi Phi by dancing in “Greek Get Down,” a
philanthropy event hosted by AE Phi. As a Corporate
Communications student in the Moody College of
Communication and participant in McCombs’ Business Foundations Program, Greta
has accepted a Digital Marketing internship with Texas Exes this upcoming summer.
She is excited to see where her studies, work, and leadership experience will take her
upon graduating next May.
JANE MARIE JENEVEIN
After graduating from Highland Park High School in
2013, Jane Marie Jenevein pledged the Texas Alpha chapter
of Pi Beta Phi at the University of Texas at Austin, joining
the same sisterhood as her grandmother and two cousins,
one of whom had been president of Texas Alpha in 2009.
Jane Marie is a rising senior and by the time she graduates,
she will have completed a major in Advertising, a minor
in Spanish, and a certificate in Business Foundations.
Jane Marie served as a City Rush Chair for Pi Phi her
sophomore year and sat on the Executive Board of Pi Phi
as Panhellenic Delegate, acting as the liaison between the
sorority and University Panhellenic Council (UPC). She also served as Pi Phi’s co-chair
and choreographer for UT’s first-ever Greek Get Down, a dance competition among
all of UPC sororities, hosted by Alpha Epsilon Phi. Last summer, Jane Marie gained
invaluable experience working as a legal assistant at a boutique Dallas law firm. This
summer she will finish her Spanish minor while she studies abroad in Seville, Spain.
CC LORIO
Caroline Collins Lorio, or CC as her friends know her,
graduated from Highland Park High School and pledged
Pi Phi at the University of Virginia in 2014, during the
spring semester of her freshman year. She served as the
Vice President of Fraternity Development in the spring
of her sophomore year and into the fall of her junior
year, in addition to serving on the apparel committee and
volunteering at Charlottesville’s local Johnson Elementary
School for Pi Phi’s Champions are Readers program. An
incoming senior, she is a double major in Biology and
Spanish, and she is also working on creating a base in
business this summer by completing the McIntire Business Institute program at the
McIntire School of Commerce at UVA. During prior summers she has gained healthcare
experience at a dermatology office in Dallas, as well as studied abroad in Valencia, Spain
with many of her Virginia friends. With all of her studies well under way, she is on track
to apply to P.A. school to become a physician assistant!
Anna Voss, Shining Arrows
President, and Mallory Martinez,
Junior Night President for their
enthusiastic and conscientious
leadership this year.
Karen Shuttee and Jamie Moore
for chairing the wonderfully
successful Underwriting Campaign
