All entry fee checks or money orders (US funds) are to be made payable to CAPER. One check is
sufficient for all enclosed entries.
Entries are to be mailed to: NEAA/CAPER, 4044 S. 92nd St, Greenfield WI 53228.
Entries must be received by 8 pm CDT Wed. May 25, after which time no entries may be accepted,
cancelled, altered, or substituted. No telephone or verbal entries will be accepted. All changes and
cancellations must be received in writing (email is acceptable) prior to closing, except as provided for
in Chapter 11, Section 6 of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows published by the American Kennel Club.
All entries must be on official AKC entry forms. Entries will be returned if they are illegible, incomplete, are submitted with incorrect fees, or are photocopied without the reverse side instructions and
agreement included. Checks returned for insufficient fees will render the entry invalid; acceptance
of such an entry will only be made if the full fees, plus a $25 administrative fee, are paid via cash,
certified check or money order & received prior to the start of judging. Express deliveries must include signature waiver permitting them to be left at the Secretary’s address without receipt signature.
Entries received without signature release will be refused.
Refunds: Entry fees will not be refunded in the event of errors or cancellation of entries after the
published closing date; in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by the veterinarian
or judge, or barred from competition by the Show Committee; or in the event that extreme weather
conditions, civil disturbances, or other acts beyond the control of the Show Committee make it impossible to open or complete the show/trial. Refunds for bitches in season in obedience, rally and
agility will be given (less $5/entry), if notification (including veterinary certification) is made to the trial
secretary prior to the start of judging for the day.
Fax/email entries: Entries may be faxed to the Show/Trial Secretary at 206-222-2830, or emailed to
[email protected]. Both the front and back of each entry form must be included, completely
filled out and signed, or the entry will not be accepted. Payment can be made via PayPal or credit card
by going to www.caper-dogs.com/ContactCAPER.htm and following the instructions there. Payment
must include the $1.50 per class additional charge to be valid.
Entry Acknowledgements: To ensure the receipt of your entries, it is suggested that you include
a valid email address which you regularly check on your entry form, as that will allow the Secretary
to send an email receipt of entry. If you do not have email, send a self-addressed, stamped postcard
or envelope with your entry, which the Secretary will return upon entry receipt. Judging programs
and entry confirmations will be emailed to each exhibitor as soon as possible after the closing date.
If the confirmation is to be sent to a person other than the dog’s owner, please include with the entry
the name and address or email address to which it is to be sent.
Exhibitors are responsible for the correctness of entries. Any errors will be corrected prior
to closing; exhibitor errors discovered after closing cannot be corrected. Overpayments of
less than $5 will not be refunded.
Move Ups to Best of Breed or Open/Master Jr Show classes: Dogs which, according to their
owner’s records, have completed the requirements for a championship after the closing of entries
for this show may be transferred from the Dog or Bitch class to the Best of Breed class. Similarly, an
entrant in a Novice Junior Showmanship can be transferred to Open if the junior has earned a third
1st place, and an Open entry can be moved to Masters if the junior has earned a tenth first place,
after this show’s closing date. Each of these transfer requests must be made to, and accepted by, the
Show Secretary at least 30 minutes prior to the start of any regular conformation judging at this show.

St Charles IL is known for its close proximity to Chicago’s big city perks but with all the grace of a small town. In
such spirit, the countryside property is like a city in and of itself, complete with apartment-style suites, a theater,
live comedy, diverse dining options, 18 holes of golf, tennis and swimming pool.
Wireless high speed internet, a worktable, microwave, mini refrigerator, iron, ironing board, hair dryer, and
37”HD televisions with cable access are included in each room. 6 restaurants and bars are located on the 250
acre property. 100% smoke-free hotel. Dogs are only allowed in Golf rooms.

Grounds: No X-pens allowed in the Mega Center.
Grooming Information: There is no grooming in the hotel guest rooms. Grooming will be allowed in
the Mega-Center in a curtained off area adjacent to the show rings. The grooming area will not be available
until set-up is complete. Blow dryers will not be allowed during Obedience and Rally. Self wash facilities are
available 5 minutes from the resort at PetCo. 3853 East Main St., St Charles IL. There are 3 stations and a
reservation is required. Call 630-513-1170. State you are staying at the resort and you will get a special show
rate of $8.00. There is a hose hook up available outside at the resort, but no tub or hot water.

From the North: I-90 East (becomes 1-294) to I-290 -West exit. Take I-290 for approximately 6 miles to Exit #7
which is I-355 south. Take I-355 toward Joliet for approximately 4 miles to North Avenue (IL Rte 64) West exit.Take
North Avenue west for approximately 11 mitles to Pheasant Run hotel entrance on the left.
From the Northwest: 1-90 to Randall Road, head South. Left on Route 64.The hotel is on the right.
From the East: Take I-80/94 W, bear left to stay on I-80. Take I-80 approximately 15 milles to Exit #140 for I-355
N. Take I-355 N approximately 25 miles to North Avenue (IL64). Exit on North Avenue westbound. Follow above
directions to the hotel.
From the West: Take I-88 E to North Farnsworth Avenue exit. Take Farnsworth (becomes Kirk Rd) north for
approximately 9 miles to North Avenue (IL 64). Turn right, east bound, on North Avenue for approximately one
mile to the hotel entrance on the right.

EXHIBITORS PLEASE NOTE! THE FOLLOWING PERTAINS TO ALL EVENTS!
RINGSIDE: Dogs may arrive at any time prior to their scheduled time of judging. Judges will not wait for any
dog. Owners and agents alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs at ringside when their class is
called. The club, judges, stewards and secretary have no obligation or responsibility to announce for or locate
dogs that are not at ringside when required.
LIABILITY: It is expressly understood that exhibitors alone are responsible for the behavior of their dogs and/
or children. Any exhibitor whose dogs and/or children create unnecessary disturbances or repeatedly engage
in unsafe or disruptive behavior may, at the discretion of the Show Committee, be asked to leave the show site.
In such cases, no refund of any fees paid will be made. The clubs, hotel, CAPER LLC, and any of their agents
or employees will assume no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury sustained by exhibitors or handlers,
or to any of their dogs or property, & further assume no responsibility for injury to children. NEAA & NEINEA
do not agree to arbitrate claims as set forth on the Official AKC entry form for this event.
Exhibitors should follow their Veterinarians’ recommendation to assure their dogs are free of internal and
external parasites, any communicable diseases, and have appropriate vaccinations. Dogs found in an unsafe
environment, distress or harm’s way (for example: left unattended on a grooming table in a noose not attached
to a safety release clip; left in a vehicle without proper ventilation) will be removed to safety. Exposing a dog
to an unsafe environment, distress or harm’s way is considered mistreatment. All persons attending this show
hereby waive any claim for damages against the host clubs and hotel in the event a motor vehicle has to be
entered to rescue a dog from overheating or improperly vented conditions.

International Crufts Qualifying Show
The Norwegian Elkhound Association of America, Inc. will consider the Norwegian Elkhound classes at the
parent club’s National Specialty Show on June 15-16, 2016 as a designated International Crufts QualifyingShow.
Recipients of the Best of Breed, Best of Opposite to Best of Breed, Select Dog, Select Bitch, and Awards of
Merit will receive a Crufts eigibility Qualifying Award Certificate to enter the Crufts Dog Show March 9-12, 2017
at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham, England, United Kingdom. Details can be found at www.
the-kennel-club.org.uk which notes the testing proceedures should be started at least seven (7) months prior to
the Crufts Dog Show.
FUTURITY “The Breeder’s Cup” & MATURITY
The purpose of the Futurity – “The Breeder’s Cup” and Maturity competition is to encourage breeders to
continually strive for excellence and to reward them for their breeding efforts. Only puppies from breeder-nominated litters may compete in the Futurity/Maturity, and the eligible puppy/dog shall be allowed to
compete in one Futurity and one Maturity during its lifetime. The Futurity/Maturity Premium List will be
mailed only to exhibitors who have puppies/dogs eligible to compete in the Futurity/Maturity Classes.

Class is judged on the merits of the offspring, but the parent will be examined for DQs/excusals.

Entry is made for the Stud Dog or Brood Bitch - offspring are not entered on the entry form.
Brace Class (NEAA only)
For two dogs, regardless of sex, performing in unison and presented by one handler.
Both dogs in each Brace must have at least one common owner.
Entrants need not be entered in any other class, but each must be on a separate entry form.
Champions of record and altered dogs may be entered.
Generations Class (NEAA only)
For three dogs, regardless of sex, of three consecutive generations (grandparent, parent, offspring).
Entry is made for each dog (three separate entry forms) and all entries submitted together.
Class is judged on the merits of all three generations entered.
Champions of record and altered dogs may be entered.
For the generations class, 35% of the entry fee will be retained by the club for expenses.
The remainder will be divided as follows:
First place .....40%
Second Place .....25%
Third Place.....20%
Fourth Place 15%.
At the National Specialty the dog designated Reserve Winners Dog and the bitch designated Reserve Winners
Bitch will be awarded a three-point major, provided that the number of dogs competing in the regular classes
of the Reserve Winner’s sex totals at least twice the number required for a five point major, in the region in
which the event is held.
CANINE GOOD CITIZEN TEST
The NEAA will be offering the Canine Good Citizen test which will be administered after the completion of rally
judging on Sunday June 12. The test, which will be administered by NEAA member Chris Olson, is currently
limited to 10 dogs. If more members express interest in the test, efforts will be made to accommodate them. Volunteers are needed to help with the testing. No experience necessary. The cost of the testing is $20.00. Email Carol Slattery at [email protected] or snail mail

JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP
Novice class: For junior handlers aged 9-17 who, at the time entries close, have not won three first place
awards, with competition present, in a Novice Junior Showmanship class at a licensed or member show.The
Novice class is divided:
Novice Junior - 9 years and under 12 years on the day of the show;
Novice Intermediate - 12 years and under 15 years on the day of the show;
Novice Senior - 15 years and under 18 years on the day of the show.
Open class: For junior handlers aged 9-17 who, at the time entries close, have won three first place awards,
with competition present, in a Novice Junior Showmanship class at a licensed or member show. The Open
class is divided:
Open Junior - 9 years and under 12 years on the day of the show;
Open Intermediate - 12 years and under 15 years on the day of the show;
Open Senior - 15 years and under 18 years on the day of the show.
Master class: For junior handlers aged 9-17 who, at the time entries close, have won the 10 first place wins
in an Open class with competition to be eligible to enter the Limited Class Competition. The calendar for this
class will be November 1 - October 31 of the following year. All Juniors meeting the criteria for this class are
required to enter the Master Class and may change their entry the day of the show if entries have already
closed. Once the eligibility time frame for that year has passed all participants return to the Open Class to
complete for the following year.
PLEASE NOTE: Juniors must include their AKC Junior Handler number on the entry blank. Be sure all information for Junior Showmanship Classes is entered on the front and back of the entry form.
Dogs shown in Junior Showmanship may have Full or Limited AKC registration or have an ILP/PAL number.
Altered animals are eligible to be shown, but bitches in season are not eligible.
NATIONAL SPECIALTY SWEEPSTAKES
SWEEPSTAKES - Requirements and Qualifications
Sweepstakes is open to all Norwegian Elkhounds six (6) months of age and under eighteen (18) months of age
on the date of the show. Sweepstakes classes will be judged before the Regular and Non-Regular conformation
classes. Sweepstakes are limited to amateur handlers and owners only. Professional handlers may handle
only their own dogs. Dogs shown in Sweepstakes must also be entered in one of the Regular Classes.
Sweepstakes classes will be judged separately, and there will be no further competition between the two divisions. Champions of Record whose age meets the requirements below may compete in sweepstakes. Indicate
the Sweepstakes Class with the age division in the space provided for “Additional Classes” on the entry form.
The following classes will be divided for both dogs and bitches.

Veteran Sweepstakes is open to all Norwegian Elkhounds who, on the day of the show, will be at least 7 years
of age. Veteran Sweepstakes entrants are not required to enter an additional class. Indicate the Veteran
Sweepstakes Class with the age division in the space provided for “Additional Classes” on the entry form.

Elissa Kelley, DVM, is a 2006 graduate of Atlantic Veterinary College, Canada. From 2006-2013 she
gained extensive experience in canine reproduction at Michigan Canine Reproductive Services, Wilson
Veterinary Hospital, Washington MI. Prior to graduation, Dr. Kelley completed an externship in canine
reproduction at Animal Clinic Northview in Ohio. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical
Society and the Society of Theriogenology. She is currently Director of Canine Reproductive Services
at Critter Care Veterinary Services in Plano, IL.

NEAA BARN HUNT SPECIALTY
Saturday, June 11
The NEAA Barnhunt Specialty will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016. The host club is For Your K9,
and the trial chair/secretary will be Amy Wukotich. The Barn hunt will be held at For Your K9, 1975
Cornell Ave., Melrose Park, Il approximately 25 miles east of the Pheasant Run Resort. The Barn hunt
premium will be available late in March. You may obtain a premium list and entry blank on the Barn
Hunt website, www.barnhunt.com. Use the scroll down list of coming events to locate the trial. Entries
for ELKHOUND ONLY will be taken from April1-14 after which time, entires will be open to all breeds
on a first received basis.
Entries close on May 30, 2016. The two Saturday trials are officially sanctioned Barn Hunt Association
trials with qualifying scores being applied to Barn Hunt Titles., which are recognized by the AKC.

AGILITY
On Tuesday June 14, the NEAA will be hosting two agility trials in conjunction with the National Specialty.These two trials are limited to Elkhounds only with an overall entry of 250 runs.
A HIT ROSETTE WILL BE AWARDED AT EACH TRIAL.
THE NEAA HIT SPECIALTY TROPHY WILL BE AWARDED IN TRIAL 1 ONLY.
The opening date for entries is 4/1/16. The closing date is 5/25/16 at 8 pm.
These agility trials are open to dogs 15 months of age or older that are registered with the American Kennel
Club or that have AKC Limited Registration or Purebred Alternative Listing/Indefinite Listing Privileges
(PAL/ILP). Bitches in season, aggressive dogs, or dogs suffering from any deformity, injury or illness
which may affect the dog’s physical or mental performance are not eligible to participate.
By entering these trials, exhibitors acknowledge that they are familiar with the rules and regulations of
this sport, and that their dogs are familiar with and able to perform all obstacles safely.
Except for dogs needing measurement, dogs are not required to be at the trial until their scheduled time
of judging. The owner/handler of each dog is solely responsible for having it ready at ringside when the
class is to be judged. Owners are responsible for entering the proper height class. All measurements at
the dog’s withers.

A spinning demonstration will take place on Friday, June17th in the Mega Center. The demonstration
will be presented by Betty Burian Kirk and will include a question and answer session.
Volunteers are needed to assist by narrating each dog’s name and information for the video.
Volunteers will receive 10% off on their video order. Categories are Obedience, Rally, Agility, FuturityMaturity, Puppy & Veterans Sweepstakes, Rescue Parade and all conformation classes.

Monday evening will be a very special time. A glamorous evening is planned in honor of our beautiful
veteran dogs and bitches to compete for the titles of Best Veteran Dog and Best Veteran Bitch. Your
dog does not have to be a champion to compete. To honor the occasion, dress code will be semi-formal.
There will be a cash bar, hors d’oeuvres and plenty of time to mingle. All veterans entered will recieve
a memento - artwork. The artwork is an “Original hand cast paper relief art infused with Norwegian
Elkhound coat (matted & mounted) - by Graafin”.
There will be a combined NEAA/NEINEA catalog & a Veteran Booklet.

BEST OF BREED – The Susan D. Phillips Memorial Trophy is funded by the Susan D. Memorial Fund and is
awarded to the Best of Breed Winner.
AWARD OF MERIT - Bronze medallion bearing NEAA logo on red, white and blue presentation ribbon will be
presented to up to 15 dogs (of either sex) considered by the judge of the Best of Breed competition to be worthy of
special merit. These awards are given after the judge has selected Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex, Best of
Winners, Select Dog and Select Bitch. The winners of those five awards, having already been deemed worthy of
merit by virtue of their placements, are not eligible for an Award of Merit.
OBEDIENCE HIGH IN TRIAL - Perpetual trophy - Obedience High in Trial offered by Tom and Betty Ricks and

NEAA AGILITY HIGH IN TRIAL AWARD
Guidelines and Rules
All Norwegian Elkhounds competing in the Standard agility classes, including all jump heights, shall be eligible
for the NEAA Agility High In Trial Award. The award shall be based on the qualifying course run results from
only the Standard agility classes. A dog must have a Standard class qualifying score to be eligible for the
NEAA Agility High In Trial Award.
Order of consideration for NEAA Agility High In Trial Award:
1. Dog/handler team(s) with a double qualify* (2Q’s)
2. Dog/handler team(s) with a Standard qualifying score of 100
3. Dog/handler team(s) with a Standard qualifying score of less than 100
*qualifying score at the same trial in both the Standard class and the Jumpers with Weaves class (double Q)
At the end of the agility trial, first to be considered for NEAA Agility High In Trial shall be a dog/handler team(s)
with a double qualify. A dog with a double Q shall be weighted more than a dog with a single Standard qualifying score. If none, a dog/handler team(s) with a perfect Standard qualifying score of 100 shall be considered
next. If none, a dog/handler team(s) with a Standard qualifying score of less than 100 shall be considered.
Qualifying scores for AKC Standard and Jumpers With Weaves agility classes: Novice A&B, Open, and Excellent – 100 to 85 minimum; Masters – 100 minimum.
Within each Standard agility class, bonus points shall be awarded based on the level of difficulty. In all team
situations, the resulting highest score wins NEAA Agility High In Trial.
Level of Difficulty Bonus Points:
30 points – Master/Excellent Qualifying Score
25 points – Master/Excellent Preferred Qualifying Score
20 points – Open Qualifying Score
15 points – Open Preferred Qualifying Score
10 points – Novice Qualifying Score
05 points – Novice Preferred Qualifying Score
A scoring record for the NEAA Agility High In Trial Award shall be kept at the trial indicating the armband number of each competing dog, the dog’s call name, Standard class level, Standard course time in seconds (SCT),
actual Standard course running time in seconds (rounded down) for each competing dog, qualifying score in
a Standard class, notation if a double Q was earned by a competing dog, and the final calculated score for
NEAA Agility High In Trial. For example, if the SCT is 65 seconds and a dog runs the Standard course in 60.3
seconds, the difference would round down to 5 seconds.

and the level of difficulty bonus points.

Best of Breed: The Nondi Memorial Challenge Trophy: A Silver Norwegian Viking Ship mounted on a wooden
base origionally offered by Kamgaard Norwegian Elkhounds through NEINEA for competition at its specialty shows
only, in loving memory of BISS AM/Can CH Kamgaard Kit N’ Kaboodle. Retired in 1996 by Bonnie Turner and Jane
Morris and redonated in 2015. Not for permanent possession. Will remain in the club’s possession. Winners names
will be added to the wood base.
Winner’s Dog: Bronze Statue dedicated to the memory of CH Charilor Kodiak Kingmik- “Kodi” offered by Sandy
Schuttenhelm and Helen Dawkins. Trophy retired and re-doanted by Vin-Melca Elkhounds in June of 2005. For
permanent possession the trophy must be won three (3) times by the same owner, but not necessarily with the same
dog nor at consecutive shows.
Winner’s Bitch: A (mounted) 9 3/4 inch Norwegian Pewter Vase offered by Dr. Herbert Arnolde through the NEINEA
for competition at it’s specialty shows only, in memory of Mary O. Arnolde. For permanent possession the trophy
must be won three (3) times by the same owner, but not necessarily with the same dog nor at consecutive shows.
Best Veteran Dog: A (mounted) Wooden Norwegian Elkhound Statue by fireplace with clock donated by Sue Kaplan,
Windy City Elkhounds, “In loving memory of all my boys who have contributed so much in pedigrees, competition
and companionship”. Not for permanent possession. Will remain in the club’s possession. Winners names will be
added to the wood base.
Best Veteran Bitch: A (mounted) Wooden Norwegian Elkhound Statue, “A Time to Paws”. with veteran bitch, her
get and her grandget with clock. Donated by Sue Kaplan, Windy City Elkhounds “in loving memory of all my girls
who have contributed so much in pedigrees, competition, and companionship”. Nof for permanent possession. Will
remain in the club’s possession. Winners names will be added to the wood base.
Highest Scoring Dog in Regular Classes: A (mounted) 6” Pewter vase originally donated by Kari Olson, Longships
Norwegian Elkhounds in memory of U-CDX Olson’s Bjorna av Bondegard CDX. Trophy retired and redonated by
Chris Mayer in 2013. Nof for permanent possession. Will remain in club’s possession until retired. Winners names

The judge may select up to 3 of the BOB entry to receive an Award of Merit after BOB, BOS, BOW and Selects
are awarded ( these winners are not eligible for the Awards of Merit).

Puppy Sweepstakes
Puppy Sweepstakes is open to all Norwegian Elkhounds who on the day of the show, will be 6 months and
under 18 months of age, and who have not completed a championship prior to the closing of entries. Each
entry for the sweepstakes must be entered in a regular class at this show.

Distribution of Puppy Sweepstakes Prize Money
35% of total entry fees will be retained by Club for expenses. The remainder of the monies received from entry
fees shall be awarded to the class winners on a proportional basis as follows: 50% to be divided among first
place winners. The remaining 50% of the fee divided 60% to Best Puppy in Sweepstakes and 40% to Best
of Opposite Sex to Best Puppy in Sweepstakes.
Veteran Sweepstakes
Veteran Sweepstakes is open to all Norwegian Elkhounds who are at least 7 years of age on the day of the
Sweepstakes. Entrants may be altered and need not be entered in a regular class. Only one winner from
each class will be chosen. There is no competition between the sexes. From the class winners, a Best Veteran
Dog in Sweepstakes and Best Veteran Bitch in Sweepstakes will be chosen.

All cash prizes rounded to nearest dollar amount. Undistributed funds revert back to Club Class cash prizes
will be paid in the ring to the person handling the dog. Claims for prize money must be made in the ring before
the judging is over. Club & CAPER disclaim any liability for cash prizes after judging is over.

1.(Variety) if you are entering a dog of breed in which there are varieties for show purposes, please designate the particular
variety you are entering, i.e., Cocker Spaniel (solid color black, ASCOB, parti-color), Beagles (not exceeding 13 in., over

to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where the dog completed the requirements for a championship.

Handlers may opt to enter in a higher height division for all Regular titling classes, but not in a division lower than their proper height
division. Dogs entered in the Preferred classes must compete at the required jump height and may not compete in a jump height
division higher or lower than their proper height division.
All dogs that have not been officially measured for an Agility Jump Height Card may still compete; however, they must be measured
by a Judge of record, an Agility Field Representative, or a Volunteer Measuring Official, prior to running. If measured by the Judge
of record, that measurement will be valid for this trial or back-to-back trials only. If a measurement is necessary, it is the exhibitor’s
responsibility to have their dog(s) measured prior to running.
Dogs enrolled in the AKC Canine PartnersSM program may be eligible to enter all-breed AKC agility trials at the club’s option. These
dogs should be listed as All American Dog and must include their AKC number on the entry form and check the AKC No. box.
