Almos† al¬ abøut uß. Adopting å Gold~n The process for adopting one of our Golden Retrievers starts with completing an application and submitting a nonrefundable $25 application fee. Our application asks questions regarding your history with dogs, your lifestyle, and what you are looking for in a Golden Retriever. Once your application has been received, it will be reviewed, and references will be contacted. You will be called for a phone interview and a home visit will be scheduled. ALL family members must be present for the home visit. During the home visit, we will be looking for information on where the dog will spend the day and evening, and whether you have adequate space. We will make sure you have an understanding of the needs of a Golden. For example, Goldens are very unhappy if left outside unattended, even if they are with another dog. We therefore require that all of our dogs be ”inside dogs”. After your home visit, we will work with you to match your family to the perfect dog. The adoption fee donation helps offset only one-third of medical costs and training costs we incur for our dogs. All dogs are spayed/neutered, given annual well exams and all vaccines, and are treated for infections and allergies if needed. Serious medical issues such as heartworm disease are treated and any necessary surgeries are completed prior to adoption. Our foster families work on basic training and, when needed, we employ professional dog trainers. Adopting a dog is a decision that should not be taken lightly. Your dog will be a part of your family for a long time, and can provide you with years of enjoyment and wonderful memories. Find¿≈g a Néw Home før Your Gøld~n Sometimes, unfortunate circumstances dictate the need to find a new home for your dog. A D OP T IO N F EES Dogs under 1 year (Purebred) $600 All other dogs Senior 2 Senior Program $ 400 Fee Waived (65+ year old people adopting 9+ year old dog) We are Georgia’s largest Golden Retriever rescue organization and in fact, the largest in the Southeast based on the number of dogs rescued, amount spent on veterinary care and number of active volunteers. Founded in 2003 as part of the rescue arm of the Golden Retriever Club of America, AGA is one the country’s most respected rescues dedicated solely to Golden Retrievers. AGA helped start Adopt a Golden Knoxville, Adopt a Golden Birmingham and Great Pyrenees Rescue of Atlanta. Our success comes from working with the area’s premier vet hospitals, dog trainers, boarding facilities and dedicated volunteers. Our volunteers give their time, their homes and their hearts to each and every Golden that comes to us for help. Unfortunately, warm homes and loving hearts alone do not pay for the medical care and supplies our dogs need. A gift from you will mean so much. You can give online or mail a check. Every dollar will be used for our Goldens. Adopt a Golden Atlanta relies solely on donations for our income and has a 501(c)(3) classification with the IRS. Donations are tax deductible. We also meet the requirements for corporate matching, employee giving and volunteer grant programs. To adopt a Golden, place a Golden or donate, please visit our website or call us.
