Sacrament of Baptism: Baptisms are held the First Sunday of each month, following 11:00 a.m. Mass. Parents of infants and children
under age 7 are to attend 1 Baptism Seminar. (If pregnant, attend as early as possible during the pregnancy.)
Baptism Seminars are held on the Tuesday following the first Sunday of the month at 6:30 pm. *Baptism of children 7 years and older must go

RCIA ELECT PARTICIPATE
IN THE SCRUTINIES
We ask our parish family to continue to pray for
the RCIA elect as they participate in the scrutinies
and continue their journey of faith.
All of us are called to continuing conversion
throughout our lives, so we join with the elect in
scrutinizing our own lives and praying to God for
the grace to overcome the power of sin that still
infects our hearts.
The Scrutinies will be at the following Masses:
The next stop on our CRS Rice Bowl journey is the African nation of Rwanda, where we’re reminded to care for
the unborn. This week we pray for pregnant mothers, that
they may have the medical and nutritional support they
need to raise healthy, thriving children.

March 1, 2016 marks the 2nd
Anniversary of the A Morning

Blessed
Mother
devotion. The gathering will be
held at 10:00 a.m. at the home of

recitation of the rosary. Fr. Charlie Landry,
pastor of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, will be the
guest speaker. Full lunch to be served for

Divine Mercy News
Our Tuesday night Mass and
Novena is now in the Chapel of
Adoration through to completion of
the 9 weeks. The time will remain
the same: Mass at 6PM and the
Chaplet of Divine Mercy after. The
only thing that has changed is the

YEAR OF MERCY: MORE WAYS TO BE MERCIFUL
Practicing mercy in our lives actually does take
practice.
The Pharisees saw this and said to his disciples,
“Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
He heard this and said, “Those who are well do not need a
physician, but the sick do. Go and learn the meaning of the
words, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ I did not come to call
the righteous but sinners.” Matt, 9: 11-13
God, who is merciful, desires our mercy. Each
month we will offer ways to keep to mercy during
the Jubilee Year. Try randomly selecting one each
week and putting it into practice. Be creative!

8) Be mindful of your behavior online. Is that post
designed to improve your image … and leave others
feeling bad? Are you hammering people in order to
serve your anger and humiliate others?
9) Have masses said for the living: friends and family
members, even strangers you read/hear about, who are
having a hard time.
10) Be generous enough to allow someone to help you;
people need to feel needed.
11) If you didn’t mean to be a pain in the neck to
someone, admit you were and ask the person to forgive
you.
12) Take a tip from Cardinal Timothy Dolan and carry
around $5 Starbucks and McDonald’s gift cards for the
homeless.
13) Take time in prayer to contemplate the good
qualities of someone who is difficult for you. Do the
same for each member of your family.
14) Send a card, flowers, gift or note to someone on the
six-month anniversary of his or her loved one’s death.
By then, most people have stopped recognizing their
grief yet grief is still very real.

“I AM”
Kindness and mercy are what the enslaved people of
Israel needed, and they came in the form of deliverance.
They came through a leader, Moses, who was once
plucked from the Nile River and was now herding his
father-in-law’s sheep in the land of Goshen. The bush
that burned but was not consumed shows us that God is
inexhaustible mystery.
Moses’ awe and deference are mixed with a touching
conversational tone as he seeks to learn God’s name.
And God sweetly responds. The somewhat abstract “I
AM” distinguishes the God of Abraham and Isaac and
Jacob from the minor gods in the territory who “are not.”
They are helpless, powerless, and useless. Moses is to
step out into an amazing future, and God will be there
with outstretched arm. Just go and see, God seems to
say.
