District 30 Fall 2012 OSGA 55+ WINTER GAMES
District 30
Fall 2012
Congratulations to Mitch Lupa, your new President of the London Senior Games. Also a big
welcome to the Executive is extended to Larry Craigie, Vice President. May they have all the success
and enjoyment that I received during the last five years on the Executive of the London Senior Games.
We are fortunate to have so many people within the City of London who are willing to dedicate
many hours, skills and knowledge to the benefit of other seniors by serving as executive members,
convenors, committee members, and advisers. Two of these people that I must recognize are Jack
Cook, treasurer, who dedicates many hours to ensure that our finances are in order and Sandie Clode,
secretary, who contributes a great deal of time producing material etc. that maintains the
communications from the London Senior Games with the people of London. These two people have
gone beyond the call of duty over many years with their commitment. Thank you.
I advised the London Senior Games in September that I would not run for another term due to
other commitments now and in the future. Thanks again for all your loyalty, advice and dedication over
the years. It is very much appreciated.
John Slavin, Outgoing President LSG
As the incoming president of the London Senior Games Association, I would like to thank John Slavin
for his dedication and hard work at this position. The Association is trying to promote participation and
involvement in our activities. We welcome anyone interested to come to our meetings which are
usually held the first Wednesday of the month at 1:30 pm at NLOCC. Please check with one of the
executive to confirm. I hope to carry on John's legacy and move forward to make seniors' activities a
Mitch Lupa, Incoming President LSG
benefit for all.

55+ SUMMER GAMES
2012 Medal Winners:
BRAMPTON
August 14—16
London District #30 sent a contingent to the 55+ Summer
Games
(fo rmerly
Actifest)
t his
year.
Boarding the bus or driving, the spirits were high. Brampton did
a nice job of providing a good set of games for all of the
athletes. Housed at a variety of hotels, the London contingent
rallied and brought home many medals and a wealth of great
experiences. A great time of social interaction and camaraderie
was had by all. The two days of competition were held at
various venues throughout Brampton. Great friendships and
great fun were evident. Hope to see more out to compete for the
next 55 + Summer Games in Windsor. See you there!

CONGRATULATIONS to all who took part in the London Senior Games this past summer. You
helped make the “Summer Games” a resounding success again this year.
We offer these events as fun filled activities that all might enjoy. Judging from the increase in
participants and the many positive comments we have received, this approach is working.
The winners at the London Senior Games “sanctioned” events had the opportunity to represent London
in the Ontario 55+ Summer Games held in Brampton in August. We had 58 people participate in these
games. It was a 3 day event that featured some fun competition, renewal of old friendships and a chance
to enjoy the hospitality that the City of Brampton provided. Our proud Londoners came home with a
total of 27 well deserved medals. A special thanks goes out to those folks who didn’t partake in any of
the events, but went with us to support the participants and be goodwill ambassadors from the City of
London.
The preparations for the 2012 LSG “Winter Games” are completed and these events will be held at
various locations across the city. The winners of these games will have the opportunity to advance to
the Ontario 55+ Winter Games to be held in Huntsville on February 26-28, 2013. Good luck to all!
A big “THANK YOU” to all the convenors and helpers who have volunteered their time and energy to
help run the games. Without all your hard work and dedication these games would not be the success
they are
