PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
GSA, FEDERAL OFFICE BUILDING 3 (FOB3), SUITLAND FEDERAL CENTER, SUITLAND, MD –
HAZARDOUS MATERIALS INVESTIGATION AND REMEDIAL ACTION
Tidewater conducted hazardous material surveys for asbestos, LBP, PCBs and mercury in
FOB3 and 18 ancillary buildings – 780,000 SF of building area and 420,000 SF of confined
space/steam tunnels.The scope of work included remedial design with annotated floor
plans using AutoCAD, managing hazardous material abatement,air monitoring and final
clearance inspections. Tidewater also prepared the removal plan for underground storage
tanks, performed PCB soil/concrete remediation and TCLP testing.
ANNE ARUNDEL PUBLIC SCHOOLS, MD – INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE SUPPORT
Since 2006, Tidewater has provided project management, industrial hygiene support, and
compliance inspections to Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS). Tidewater
provides asbestos and lead-based paint inspections, abatement project design, air
monitoring and oversight for AACPS facilities that are scheduled to undergo renovation
activities. Tidewater also prepares bid documents, attends pre-bid meetings as a
representative for AACPS, reviews contractor submittals, prepares cost estimates for
associated air monitoring and provides oversight of each individual project.
SAIC FREDERICK, FREDERICK, MD – INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE SUPPORT, INDOOR AIR QUALITY
(IAQ) SURVEYS AND MOLD INVESTIGATIONS
Tidewater provided consulting services at over thirty (30) locations at the National Cancer
Institute (NCI), Frederick, Maryland. Asbestos abatement and oversight was provided,
along with mold abatement oversight, indoor air quality (IAQ) surveys and mold
investigations. Sampling and monitoring would routinely include swab testing/surface
sampling and cultural air sampling for analysis of fungal speciation and enumeration.Preremediation and post-remediation air sampling was conducted using spore trap
bioaerosolsamples for analysis of fungal spores and particulates by optical microscopy.
Direct reading measurements were utilized for temperature, relative humidity, carbon
dioxide, and carbon monoxide. Moisture meter readings were collected to determine
extent of water damage on gypsum board walls in the new ATRF building.Mold
remediation oversight and sampling was conducted to resolve intrusive mold issues due
to structural/environmental concerns. Tidewater provided IH support, abatement
oversight, monitoring and final inspections/final clearance sampling for various abatement
projects.
US COAST GUARD, AVIATION LOGISTICS CENTER – INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE, HEALTH &
SAFETY CONSULTATION
Tidewater provides full-time on base industrial hygiene support for Coast Guard activities
in Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
Duties include inspections of base operations for
potential occupational safety and health issues, OSHA exposure assessments and wipe
sampling for heavy metals during abrasive blasting and aircraft repainting activities,
sound/noise assessments, interpretation of results for comparison with current personal
protection equipment (PPE) requirements, presenting findings to base personnel and
developing updated PPE standards.
