A 1,200 km non-stop cycle path
running all the way from Roscoff
to Hendaye, taking in the loveliest
sites of the Atlantic Coast. This
is the French stretch of EuroVelo 1 –
Atlantic Coast Route connecting
Norway to Portugal.
www.lavelodyssee.com
Since November 2000, from Sully-sur-Loire (Loiret) to
Chalonnes-sur-Loire (Maine-et-Loire), the Loire Valley has
been listed as a world heritage site by UNESCO for its
cultural landscapes. It is the largest area in France to be
listed as such, stretching out over a length of 280 km
and representing a surface area of 800 km2. In addition
to the Loire and its banks and hillsides, the defined area
incorporates the historical heart of major towns and
includes key areas which form an integral part of the
Loire landscape.
