My youth was filled with many wonderful experiences and with many opportunities to enjoy traveling abroad. Presently, I am a 37 year old wife and mother of three children. I have owned and cared for dogs & cats my entire life. A professional photographer by trade; specializing in photography which focuses on natural scenery and dogs. Additionally, I work in media design when time allows. From childhood, my passion has always been that of Cynology; also known as the study of matters related to domestic canines. My breed specialty is that of Rottweilers, and for the past 10 years I have achieved the level of FCI-judge. I am an FCI-breeder, and strictly adhere to the FCI conformation and temperament standard for the Rottweiler. Over the course of my breeding tenure, I have achieved Champion titles on 37 dogs; this achievement brings much pride to me and my breeding program. Throughout my involvement with our outstanding breed, I have had the great fortune to have excellent mentors. I continue to learn from them, as well as my peers, and believe the education process will be lifelong. It is my belief that breeding is an art that we need to develop together as a group of Rottweiler enthusiasts, as well as within our individual breeding programs along the way. The process of breeding and improving our breed will take lots of study, love, and commitment. In closing, I must state that I remain most grateful to the ARV organization for entrusting me with the honor of presiding as judge over this outstanding event. I wish each of you exhibitors the very best, and hope you will enjoy the ARV National Sieger Show as much as I will. ~Lydia Mihajlovic (FCI-Serbia) ¾ Show Site Information ¾ Show will be held outdoors – rain or shine – limited shade. While one team is performing the heeling exercises, the other team is doing the long down. The second part is a traffic sureness/temperament test. This part of the test consists of exercises are conducted in the open in areas with some traffic. The BH is a pass/fail test. In order to ear the title, BH, the dog must obtain at least 70 percent of the available points in the obedience test. The dog and handler may then proceed to the traffic test. In the traffic testing, there are no points, the dog will either pass or fail. While the dog must obtain the required points to pass, judges are looking for the overall picture of the exercises. The ARV strongly holds that the ZtP is imperative to preserve the correct Rottweiler in both conformation and character, and is highly recommended for all dogs before breeding. There are several phases in the ZtP. The dog is first measured, weighed and critiqued to prove them free of disqualifying faults. Next the dog and handler must perform an obedience routine during which a gun is fired twice, to test the dog’s sureness in the face of noise. The dog must also heel through a crowd and allow several people to close in on him without display of fear or unwarranted aggression. In the character portion of the test, the dog is rated on characteristics including self sufficiency, temperament, courage, protection drive, fearlessness and attentiveness. A copy of the ZtP form is given to the dog’s owner and another copy is kept on record by the ARV and entered into the ARV Korbuch. ZtP Requirements The owner and/or handler of the dog must be ARV members. The dog must be at least 2 years of age and must be tattooed. The dog must possess no disqualifying faults according to the current FCI Rottweiler Standard with the exception of the docked tail, which ARV recognizes provided the dog’s country of origin still allows tail docking. The dog must have successfully completed an ARV or VDH – sanctioned BH. All Rottweilers must present original AKC, CKC, ADRK, ARV or FCI registration papers; AKC, CKC, ADRK or ARV certified pedigree or a certified pedigree from country of origin, and original ARV approved hip certification. A copy of each of these documents must be included with the dog’s entry form. An official veterinary weight certificate dated within 7 days of the test. An ARV or VDH-sanctioned scorebook. Korung Basic Breed Test (BBT) The ARV offers the BBT to test the temperament and breed suitability of Rottweilers whose owners have chosen not to perform grip or protection work, or who do not have a convenient place to train their dog for protection work. Additional temperament tests are given which include an unfriendly stranger who approaches the dog and retreats without any physical contact. The BBT is comparable to the ZtP in all other respects. The BBT is a pass or fail test. * All dogs will be measured, weighed and critiqued to determine them free of disqualifying faults. All dogs will be required to perform a short obedience routine consisting of a U shaped heeling pattern on leash,, and off-leash sit out-of-motion, and an off-leash down-out-of-motion with a recall. Dogs will also have to pass a group test and gun sureness test as in a ZtP. The dog must hold a long down on the field with the handler thirty paces away while another dog performs the same routine. The dog will also be walked on leash in a high traffic area such as a shopping center. The character portion of the test will be on leash. With the dog and handler in a stationary position, a person will come out of the hiding place in an aggressive manner. The person will come within ten feet of the dog and stay there for ten seconds before retreating back to the hiding place. The final test consists of the dog walking on leash with the handler, toward a person covered completely with a white sheet. The dog will be stopped thirty fee from the person at which point the person in the sheet will begin to walk slowly toward the dog and stop ten feet in front of the dog. The Korung is an advance breeding suitability test for Rottweilers who have already achieved their ZtP breed test. Rottweilers that pass this test are endorsed for breeding for a two-year period. Korung Requirements The owner and/or handler of the dog must be ARV members. Males must be at least 36 months of age and possess a Schutzhund III. Females must be at least 36 months of age and posses a Schutzhund I. The dog must have successfully completed an ARV, ADRK, VDH, DVG, USA or FCI sanctioned AD. The dog must also possess an ARV or VDH sanctioned ZtP. The dog must have an eye color of 3A or darker and their mouths must be at least 2/3 dark pigment. The dog must have received at least 3 conformation ratings of SG or V by at least 2 different judges. At the end of the 2 year period, the dog repeats the Korung again additionally providing proof of correct progeny. If the dog passes the second time, it is endorsed for breeding until the age of 9 years for dogs and 8 years for bitches, at which time the dog is to be retired from breeding. The Korung bis EzA test is available through the ARV for ARV members only. BBT Requirements The owner and/or handler of the dog must be ARV members. The dog must be at least 18 months of age. The dog must also be tattooed. An ARV or VDH approved scorebook. The dog must posses no disqualifying faults according to the current FCI Rottweiler Standard with the exception of the docked tail, which ARV recognizes provided the dog’s country of origin still allows tail docking. *At this time, dogs that fail will be allowed to repeat the test once at a later date. **If the dog is under 24 months at the time of test or does not yet posses an ARV approved hip certification, the BBT is only provisionally awarded until the dog obtains an official ARV approved hip certification. Proof of this certification must be provided to the ARV Superintendent.
