All of these events and opportunities have
occurred over and above the normal classroom
curriculum. Many thanks to the staff, parents
and students for such a wonderful term. I hope
all the students and our families have an
opportunity to recharge the batteries over the
holidays and we look forward to seeing everyone
return for the final term of the school year.

THANK YOU!
This term has been bulging with faith life activities:
NAIDOC WEEK, CATHOLIC EDUCATION WEEK, GRANDPARENTS MORNING,
COMBINED SGM/OLHOC SCHOOL LITURGIES, YEAR 6 CAMP, FATHERS DAY,
YEAR 5 LEADERSHIP DAY, FAREWELL DINNER FOR ALISON-PARISH SECRETARY,
Yr 6 STUDENTS PERFORMING AT THE PARISH MUSICAL MORNINGS.
Whew! OLHOC has an amazing support base for our faith life with each of these events so well
attended by our parents, grandparents and wider school family. THANK YOU to each of you who
have taken time from your busy work day to join us to celebrate and share in the presence of God
in each of us through our school faith life events and experiences.
YEAR 5 LEADERSHIP REFLECTION DAY
Last Wednesday the Year 5 classes participated in a Leadership Reflection Day. Each
classroom teacher led an activity to build and discuss student’s leadership skills. We enjoyed a
shared lunch with HEAPS of HEALTHY food brought along by families for us all to taste. Our day
finished with a prayer reflection.
Grace Kennedy: It was nice to hear what everyone thought about leadership.
We had to use our teamwork to make the human letters when
we were with Miss Chappell. Shared lunch with the whole Year
5 cohort was special.

RE News cont...
Harrison Brezic: It was fun. We had to learn about how to be a leader. My
favourite activity was making letters using our bodies. Lunch
was DELICIOUS!!! We all had to bring something healthy to
share. Ms Fleming showed us a video about the wisdom of
Geese and how geese fly together as a team to make them
powerful.
Emily Veivers:
My favourite part was making towers using marshmallows with
Mrs Coate. My team had to work together to make it stand up.
In the Funda Room with Mrs Cross we talked about what it
means to be a servant leader.
Cody Newman: I enjoyed working with all of the teachers in all the different
activities. We got to make a poster in our house teams about
what skills we need to be a good leader. My favourite activity
was dancing in the Funda Room.
Year 5 students who wish to nominate for OLHOC 2017 Student Leadership positions are now
preparing their applications which are due to Mr Brown by Friday 7 October.
