Madison archery team finds success at recent tournament

team competed in the Middle
School Division for Oklahoma
Region 3. Sixteen middle school
teams competed and Madison
Middle School placed 8th with
2747 points. Nick Olsen was the
top male shooter for our team
and he placed 23rd out of 140
with a score of 260 points. Jarod
Harder placed 29th with 255
points. In the female division,
Presley Burch place 13th out
of 111 girls with a score of 251.

BPSD third graders

Reigning Teacher of the Year is Wilson Elementary
School fourth grade teacher, Kris Zorn.
The district will also honor 11 Rising Star Teacher
nominees, and one will be named the 2015 Rising Star
Teacher. The award, created by the Teacher Recognition
Committee, will honor teachers that have displayed excellence in the profession during their first years of service.
Nominees for the 2015 Rising Star award include include Megan Sanders (second grade teacher, Hoover), Gwen
Sally (second grade teacher, Jane Phillips), Lindsey Denison

grades 9 – 12 with some experienced
actors and many who will be making
their stage debuts.
For this production, many of
the costumes and all of the extreme
makeup effects are being designed and
created by BHS stagecraft students.
There will be amazing headdresses,
makeup and costumes – including
some from India, Japan, ancient Greek
tribes and Africa.

government teacher, BHS) and Tiffany Fitzsimmons (school
psychologist, WRC).
The Teacher of the Year Ceremony also marks the
event during which the annual Kurt Schmoldt Teacher
Appreciation Award is presented. A 1975 graduate of
Bartlesville’s College High School, Kurt Schmoldt died of
complications from leukemia in 1995. The Schmoldt family
has been handing out the distinguished award since 1996
to BPSD educators who demonstrate dynamic qualities as
instructors as well as, community leaders.
Last year’s Kurt Schmoldt Award recipient was
Bartlesville Mid-High School librarian, Lesleigh Lynes.
Candidates for the honor are nominated by students, parents,
teachers, administrators and anyone else that is interested.
Please consider attending this special event and showing
your appreciation for the many great educators throughout the
district.
Choreography for the show is
being managed by two of the cast
members, BHS senior theatre students,
Catherine Hine and Kasia Jarmola.
“This show will be unlike any
other production,” says Susan Crabtree, BHS secondary theatre director.
“The traditional performance is sweet,
pretty and includes lots of fairy wings
and shiny things. Our interpretation of
the play is more tribal and earthy. The
characters will be costumed in tribal
garb from around the world.”
“The production will also high-
light the unique talents of the cast,”
Crabtree adds. “In addition to acting,
the performers will be playing musical
instruments, singing, dancing and doing gymnastics.”

can be purchased from a cast member,

Advanced ticket prices are $10 for
adults and $8 for students and faculty.
Tickets purchased at the door will be
$12 for adults and $10 for students and
faculty.
Life Principle of the Month: Honesty
Each month, the Bartlesville Public School District and the Bartlesville Regional United Way
designate a Great Expectations Life Principle as Life Principle of the Month. BPSD students, staff
and members of the Bartlesville community are encouraged to incorporate the Life Principle into
their respective lifestyles as habit. The Life Principle of the Month for February is “honesty,” which
means, “being truthful in your words or actions.”
