FIM has lined up monthly events for our beloved readers and club members.
Karaoke Singing competitions and Hip Hop Dance contests are among the
latest addition to FIM’s commitment in giving entertainment to our fellow
kababayans in Hong Kong.
After the successful New Year Pabongga last month and to celebrate
Valentine’s Day with our readers and clients, FIM has prepared the program
Search for the King and Queen of Hearts on February 14 at the Grappa’s
Cellar in Central. In line with the valentine celebrations, we will also celebrate
Chinese New Year with lots of raffle prizes and entertainment surprises for our
readers.
In this year’s Chinese New Year celebration, many of our kababayans are
happy because it falls on the same date as Valentine’s Day and they can enjoy
being together with their love ones in Hong Kong to have a double celebration.
The city has been enlivened over the past week by the appearance of small
forests of potted orange bushes which stand guard at the entrances of banks,
shops and office blocks. For these tiny trees, laden with their bright orange
fruits, is one of the horticultural necessities for a prosperous Chinese New
Year.
The kumquat bush is a traditional symbol of good fortune for welcoming the
year to come; its name in Chinese characters sounds the same as ‘lucky’. The
Spring Festival and the Lunar New Year, is the most important traditional
Chinese festival. In preparation for this year’s start of the Year of the Tiger,
homes and buildings are decorated, families united, fortunes told, debts paid
off, staff bonuses given and lai see or lucky money is distributed in red packets
to children and unmarried friends.
For three days and more, a large proportion of the population travels
overland to China to see relatives or take a holiday. Many Westerners head
off to warmer climates. Dragon dance presentations are everywhere during
the celebrations. A lot of clothing and apparels are out on big sale, while
chocolates flowers and bouquet are expensive because of Valentine’s Day.
Chinese custom calls for everyone to stay up, as evil spirits must be warded
off with bright lights and firecrackers. New Year’s Day and a day after has
a tradition of no work must be done, no knives used and no floors swept, so
all the cooking and preparations must be completed in advance. The kitchen
God, who returns overnight, will be back in his place. New clothes are worn,
no meat is eaten, and friends and relatives are visited, with more lai see
distributed.
In the Philippines, the Filipino Chinese community also share similar
celebrations, gatherings and beliefs like here in Hong Kong.

inspiring words uttered by new General Manager and Country Head of
Philippine National Bank in Hong Kong, Mr. Ramon B. Murillo.
Mr. Murillo imparts this meaningful message to all OFWs working in
Hong Kong, “Mag-ipon, hindi habang-buhay na naririto tayo at naghahanapbuhay sa ibang bansa. It’s not yet too late, mag-start mag-save habang narito
pa tayo. At sa mga mahal naman natin sa buhay na naiwan sa Pilipinas,
disiplinahin natin sila sa tamang paraan ng paggastos ng pera. Kahit saan man
bansa tayo pumunta kung walang disiplina ang mga naiwanan natin, hindi
pa rin tayo makakaipon. At sa paraan naman ng pangungutang, hindi naman
ipinagbabawal bagkus huwag umutang ng higit pa sa ating kinikita. You should

Some have never heard his name but he is, just like us, an Overseas
Filipino Worker since 1986, who knows fairly well how our fellowmen
feel being apart from families and loved ones. He also felt the usual
loneliness and homesickness that people feel when working overseas.
Through sheer determination, tenacity, devotion to his chosen field
and open-mindedness, Mr. Ramon B. Murillo saw the realization of
his dreams not only to his children but also to all OFWs who need
guidance and advice with regards to effective savings plans for achieving
financial stability.
He arrived in Hong Kong last January 12 and some members of the
Filipino community had the privilege to meet him last January 31 at
the PNB main office. His approachable demeanor, friendliness, trusting
nature, devotion, openness and enthusiasm for life reflect his personality
while sincerely greeting them at the meeting.
He graduated from Ateneo de Manila in 1966 with a degree in A.B.
Economics. To further his studies, he took up a special course in Business
Management and graduated in 1968. After graduating, he worked in
different companies in the Philippines in the field of financing. In 1986,
his resolve in achieving his dreams inspired him to apply and tried his
luck in the banking industry. Due to his credentials and being a Math
major, he was hired without hesitation by Far East Bank and it was the
start of his career in banking. In 1993, he was put in-charge of overseas
remittances. His virtuosity in overseas remittances and knowledge in
bank operations were duly acknowledged and different offices in other
countries were set-up and launched like in Italy, Japan, Hong Kong,
London, UK, Spain, USA and other countries.
In 2007, with his credentials and banking experience, he applied for a
post in a prestigious bank in the Philippines. With luck on his side, the
Philippine National Bank instantly hired him as Regional Head. And in
January 12, 2010, Philippine National Bank sent him to Hong Kong to
become its General Manager and Country Head of PNB-Hong Kong.
In his 17 years in the banking field, it is a challenge for him to strive
and contribute his very best to the industry he has chosen to work and
serve.
Mr. Murillo is married to Avelina Singson and are blessed with 4
adorable children namely: Shirley Atienza - graduated from Ateneo
de Manila with a degree in Business Management; Melissa Murillo graduated from Ateneo de Manila with a degree in BS Biology and
Doctor of Medicine in UST; Catherine Murillo - graduated from IAME
with a degree in AB Economics; and Gabriel Murillo - graduated from
Ateneo de Manila with a degree in Humanities.

The actual origins of the Lunar New Year or
Chinese New Year, as it is known in the West
are a little hazy and the dates have shifted more
than a few times before becoming linked to the
phases of the moon.
Traditionally, Chinese New Year was a time
to celebrate the harvest and wish for more
bounty in the coming year. However, over the
centuries it has evolved into a more general
celebration to welcome the Lunar New Year
and has established itself as the most important
Chinese holiday, akin to Christmas in the
West. People spend most of the holiday on
mandatory family visits, gorging themselves
on food and giving gifts as well as trying to
avoid a potential minefield of bad luck. But
one confusing element for many is that the date
of the celebration can vary wildly from year to
year. Lunar New Year always starts on the first
day of the first lunar month, as this is set by
the phases of the moon, the date of the holiday
changes on the Western Solar Calendar.
In Hong Kong, there are 3 main days to Lunar
New Year. This year, they are February 13,
15 and 16, all of which are public holidays.
During these 3 days, we can expect a spate of
shop closures and for business to grind to a halt.
Chinese New Year is resolutely about family
with the world’s largest human migration to
China taking place in the days leading up to
the holiday. This can make arranging flight on
these days difficult. Some of the larger shops
in Hong Kong will close during the first 2 days
of Chinese New Year although major malls and
restaurants will remain open but smaller shops
will close for the full three days and possibly
longer.
And each year, the main festivities kick off on
Lunar New Year’s Eve, which this year falls on
Friday, February 12. This is traditionally a day
to visit the flower markets as flowers especially
brightly coloured ones are said to bring good
luck. Annually, the biggest flower market in
Hong Kong is held in Victoria Park in Causeway
Bay. It is well worth a visit to see families battling
each other for the best bouquets. Families also
get together on this night for a feast, featuring a
selection of chicken and fish based dishes.
Traditionally, the house is cleaned from top to
bottom before Chinese New Year, in order to
sweep away all of last year’s bad luck. Chinese
paper cuts such as the symbols for fortune,
happiness and luck are decorated inside the
house. Fruits such as oranges and tangerines
are placed around the house which symbolizes
happiness and good relationships.
The first day of Chinese New Year is the most
important day for Chinese families because

it is a time when families visit the oldest and
most senior members of their extended family,
usually their parents, grandparents or greatgrandparents. Some families may invite a lion
dance troupe as a symbolic ritual to usher in
the Lunar New Year as well as to evict bad
spirits from the premises. People also give red
packets containing cash to junior members of
the family, mostly children. Knives and scissors
are put away on the first day so that luck cannot
be swept away.
The second day of the Chinese New Year is
for married daughters to visit their parents.
Traditionally, daughters who have been married
may not have the opportunity to visit their
families frequently.
The third day of the Chinese New Year is
generally accepted as inappropriate days to
visit relatives as it is known as “Chuk hou”
meaning that it is easy to get into arguments.
It is suggested that the cause could be the fried
food and visiting during the first two days of the
New Year celebration.
The first and second days of the Chinese New
Year, families also flock to temples to pay their
respects to a battery of deities and pray for luck
in the coming year. The temples was decorated
with bright decorations, walls adorned with red
lanterns and the overwhelming smell of incense
make for a unique experience. Present giving is
part of the fun and gifts should be given on the
first and second day of the Chinese New Year.
Traditionally, present giving is in form of both
sweets and Lai-see. Lai-see are small red packets
containing varying amounts of money and it is
said to be lucky money to receivers.
Chinese New Year Superstitions
Chinese New Year is also a superstitious time
and there is a long list of do’s and don’ts to
adhere to if we want to have a corker of a year.
Check out the list of superstitions gathered
from Chinese folks to make sure to stay on the
right side of Lady Luck.
1. Polite Conversation - during the holiday
period, don’t talk about
dying and don’t tell ghost
stories. Both subjects and
topics are considered
inauspicious.
2. A Clean Getaway - if
somebody, maybe a visitor
from other countries come
to your home, and asks
why the house is so dirty,
we have the perfect excuse
by replying politely that it
is bad luck to sweep dust
and dirt out of our house
during the holiday because
it signifies sweeping away all the family’s good
fortune.
3. No More Excuses - if number 2 sounded too
good to be true, yes it is. On New Year’s Eve, the
entire house should be cleaned and all cleaning
equipment put away in a hiddeb place.
4. Literature off the Books - out of reading
material? Well, we will just have to tough it out.
Buying books during the holidays brings bad
luck as the word in Cantonese is a homonym
for “lose”.
5. No New Shoes - buying shoes is also not a
good idea during the holiday. The Cantonese
word is a homonym for “rough” and no one
wants to have a rough year.
6. Pay Up - if you’re in debt, it’s time to stump
up the cash or you’ll be in debt all year. Friends
need cash? Don’t give them a penny because
the reverse is also true, lend now and you’ll be
lending all year. So, make sure you have paid
your debts by New Year, enter the year with
debt and you’ll leave it with debt.
7. Cut it Out - put away your knives and scissors,
they are said to cut out good luck.
8. Paint the Town Red - colourful clothing
reputedly brings good luck and ensures a
prosperous year. The colour of choice is red.
Wear red, also wards off evil spirits.
9. Bags of Sweets - candy is eaten by many as it
is said to bring the eater a sweet year.
10. A Breath of Fresh Air - it might still be a
little chilly outside but open your windows
nevertheless, it helps the New Year to come in.
11. Bird’s Singing - seeing or hearing a bird on
New Year’s Day is a very lucky sign for your
year ahead.

Candied melon - for growth and good health
Red melon seed - for joy, truth and sincerity
Lychee nut - for your family
Cumquats - for prosperity
Coconuts - for togetherness with loved ones
Peanuts - for long life
Lotus seeds - for many children
Seafood - for happiness
Aside from their Daop Palad project, the
association is gearing for another project on
their hometown thru their charity programs.
They had chosen seven barangays as their
recipients. And the proposed project would
include from putting up Lamp Post, buying
Thresher Machine and Painting of specified
buildings in their place and others.
Sharing to their less fortunate kababayans
ravaged by typhoons that hit Philippines
months ago is one of Alcaleans Association
in Hong Kong priority project. The group
is pleased to announce the accomplishment
of its Daop Palad Project launched last
December 21, 20009 at Alcala, Pangasinan.
The said project benefited one hundred
affected families with two kilos each of rice
from the association. The packs of rice were
distributed in Barangays of San Pedro and
Apartado by volunteers and family members
of Alcaleans in Hong Kong.
“All our beneficiaries are indigents and were
affected by typhoons that lashed out our
country in the past months.” Alcaleneans
President Remy Fajardo said. “We hope we
could be of help to them even just in small
things.” She added.
According to Fajardo, the group is planning
to launch projects this year that would benefit
their members. “On our next meeting,
the officers will present to our members

two- hour each event conducted by Chloe
Belle D. Dogeno of FIC.

THE TROUBLE WITH
SEPARATION
Dear Bro. Rolly,
I am legally married to my husband for eight
years now and we have two daughters aged 6 and
7 years old.
I went to work in Hong Kong as domestic helper
in 2005. My husband who was working then
as a sales representative agreed to look after our
children with the help of a part time helper who is
a distant relative of mine.
My husband has long been petitioned by his
parents to emigrate to the US even while he was
still a high school student in Olongapo. His father
was a war veteran and it wasn’t difficult for his
family to get immigrant status in America.
My husband got his visa in 2007 and left for the
US in the same year.
During the first six months of 2007 we had
regular communications via texting as well as
telephone calls. Towards the end of that year
though I noticed he started to ignore my messages
and my calls. In fact towards the end of 2007 we
were able to talk only twice and that was during
my birthday in November and on Christmas day.
It even got worst in 2008 because he never
contacted me and he just ignored all my calls and
text messages.
Finally I got a call from him once in May 2009
telling me that he will not renege on sending
money for his two children. I told him of my
plan to return to Manila so that I can take care
of the paperworks needed so that he can also
petition us to live in the US. I noticed he was
not as enthusiastic as I was during that telephone
conversation.
Then the most shocking news in my life happened
in June, 2009. I received a call from my first
cousin who lives in Salt Lake City, Utah that one

of BIGAMY and a court suit could be
filed against him. However since the act
was committed outside of the Philippines
regrettably you cannot file such suit against
him here.
As far as the Philippine law is concerned
however the marriage contracted between
you and him shall be the one recognize here
until such time that it is declared nullified,
if and when you are successful in obtaining
an annulment of marriage in the court.
I only hope that the financial support your
children are receiving from him could be
sustained at least to lessen your agony
caused by his leaving you.
I would advise that you write him a letter
where you may voice out your concern
about your children and secure an assurance
from him that he will continue to support

Mary’s Case: Theft of Employer’s Personal Items (Breach of Trust Case)
Part 2
Mary (not her real name) was charged with Theft
at the Kowloon Magistracy Court in 2009. She
pleaded not guilty to the charge and proceeded to
trial in January 2010. Since August 2009, Mary
worked as a domestic helper to Mrs. Lau (not her
real name) but was accused of stealing 15 items
belonging to her employer. Police were called on
20 October 2010 and 15 items were seized… At
trial, this Counsel for Mary, puts to Mrs. Lau if
she was ever charged of any crime that involves
dishonesty such as theft for the last 3 years or
so…
Mrs. Lau with much difficulty admitted
that in fact she was charged with theft,
shoplifting in year 2009 but after bargaining
with the prosecution, Mrs. Lau pleaded not
guilty to the charge but admitted the facts
of shoplifting and promised to be of good
behaviour and not involve herself with any
offence relating to dishonesty. She was in
fact given a binding over order by the court
to be of good behavior for the next 2 years.
With that, the defence closed its case and
made its final submissions to the court
summarizing the various incredible evidence
of Mrs. Lau that cannot be reconciled. It
was urged on the Magistrate that Mrs. Lau
cannot be believed. There are doubts and the
benefit should be given to the Defendant.
In the reason for verdict by the Magistrate,
the burden is on the prosecution and the
defence has nothing to prove.
The prosecution failed to provide explanation
how a coin purse with prominent embossed
words “Baguio City” could have been
purchased in Thailand. Souvenir items
purchased by tourists in Thailand would
not be buying “Baguio City” items. Traders
would not sell “Baguio City” memorabilia
in Thailand. This does not make sense.
The prosecution failed to produce receipt on
the purchase of any of the 15 items under
dispute. Defence produced receipt for the
purchase of the sunglasses in Philippines for
50 pesos and receipt for the crystal necklace
at HK$ 70. The receipt for the crystal

necklace was in Chinese but the evidence of
the Defendant is that the receipt in Chinese
characters was given to her after purchase
of the necklace. Mary explained that when
she purchased it, it was important to get a
receipt as Mrs. Lau has been suspicious of
her belongings, asking when where and how
much Mary pays for her personal properties.
Mary agreed that she could not understand
Chinese.
The Magistrate accepted the evidence of
the Defence witness specially the Aunty, a
permanent resident in HK, working in the
insurance industry in HK. The Magistrate
is minded to listen to her evidence and find
her believable with no reason for doubting
her.
The prosecution failed to challenge the
evidence of the sister of Mary who produces
a receipt, albeit in Chinese Characters on
the purchase of 3 tie pins for HK$ 100. In
addition, the sister also produces to court
the other 2 tie pins that she bought. The
sister cannot remember if there is label or
brand, but she likes the design of each one
and the price is cheap thus she bought them.
The brand if any would not be of relevance
when she made the purchase. When she
asked the defendant to choose one, she kept
the other 2 as future gifts to her husband or
brothers when she goes home for her annual
vacation.
The Magistrate took into consideration the
answers of Mary when cross examined by
the prosecution that the MP3/USB was
kept by her in her suitcase and never had
the opportunity to use it. Mary does not
know whether the USB is also an MP3 as
a computer is required to play it. It is not
the typical MP3 that is battery or electrically
operated, switch on and you can listen to the
music with your headphone. It looks more
like a USB with music downloaded into it.
She does not know it if is still working. She
does not have a computer and she was hoping
that when she goes back to Philippines, she
will be able to use a computer and try it.
The Magistrate also considered Mary’s
explanation that her daughters wrote her
a letter asking for red and pink pony tails,
pencils and pencil cases, Disney land mirror
and comb and other items. She has in her
possession the letter and showed it to court.
Thus Mary started buying the children’s
items as and when she has the money and
the chance. The Minnie Mouse comb with
case was purchased by Mary from a 2nd hand
shop. She paid HK$ 5 for the set despite the
fact that there are 3 minor defects on the
case. She then pointed to the magistrate the
3 defects but when she purchased it the case
was not yet broken.
The Magistrate also considered Mary’s
response how and why she has a senior
citizen octopus card found in her suitcase
which is part of the 15 seized items. Mary
said she found it by the backdoor of the flat
when she threw rubbish one night. Mary did
check from an MTR fare machine in Prince
Edward train station but there is no balance
and decided to keep it. She did not use it as
she is not entitled to a concessionary fare.
Mrs. Lau produces to court a document
downloaded from the internet that the
senior citizen octopus card is in the name
of her mother. But the Magistrate refused
to accept the said document as it is hearsay
evidence.
The Magistrate has to evaluate the credibility
of Mrs. Lau who has a binding over order
over dishonest conduct and the credibility
of Mary who is of clear record. If the
only evidence is the word of the Mrs. Lau
as against the word of Mary, then Mary’s
words will carry more weight. In the current
case, there is other evidence from the defence
that the prosecution failed to challenge. In
the circumstances, the prosecution failed
beyond reasonable doubt to prove the
elements of the crime and the benefit goes
to Mary. Therefore, Mary is acquitted of the
charge.

of the Livelihood Book for OFWs “How
to Process Meat for Business and Family
Consumption” prepared by Chloe Belle D.
Dogeno, a pilot project of Friends International
Club for OFWs.

candidate number 6 Ms. Nue Shafiri who
was also declared winner as the Most Active
Candidate, 2nd runner up was Ms. Vanessa
Roldan and 3rd runner up Ms. Imee dela Torre
Solomon. Marilyn Tadeo won the Karaoke
Singing Challenge and will defend her title in
this month’s contest.
She also thanked Dogeno for sharing her
knowledge with the Filipino Community and
exerting extra effort in coming out with the
book. According to her, the book could be a
big help to our kababayans.
The event was attended by Deputy Consul

Ody Lai, bigwigs in the Filipino Community

Ikalawa sa adhikain ng Bangon Pilipinas ang
pagbabago sa kamalayan ng maraming Pilipinong tila nasanay na sa siklo ng hirap, abuso,
at lagay. Tayo mismo ang magtatama sa ating
henerasyon sa kaisipang “kulelat” ang Pilipino. Bagkus, sa pagbabalik-tanaw natin sa
orihinal nating kadakilaan bilang isang lahi at
bansa, mauunawaan natin na sa sinaunang panahon pa man ng kalakalang pandaigdig, nakikipagkalakal na ang ating mga ninuno bago
pa man tayo “madiskubre” ng mga dayuhang
mananakop.
Ang pagtingin sa sarili nang tama ay nakabatay
sa ating pagkakakilala nang tama sa ating mga
sarili. Kaya naman, upang totohanang makabangon at makasulong, prayoridad ng Bangon
Pilipinas ang unahin ang pagbibigay ng edukasyong angkop sa ating kultura at lapat sa
pangangailangan ng bansa. Layunin din nitong ibalik ang edukasyon bilang karapatan ng
lahat at hindi pribilehiyo lamang ng iilan.
Para sa Bangon Pilipinas, ang pagpapalakas sa
ating kabuhayan ay posible sa pamamagitan ng
kaunlarang pangkabuhayan na makakalikasan.
Kalakip nito ang ayudang imprastraktura ng
daan at tulay, elektrisidad at patubig, patuyuan at imbakan ng pagkain, komunikasyon at
teknolohiyang maglalatag ng modernong agrikultura, industriya at serbisyo. Nariyan din
ang pagsasaayos ng patakaran sa pagbubuwis
at pagtiyak na tama ang ginagastusan at pag-
gastos ng pamahalaan upang makatulong sa
pagpapasigla ng kabuhayan. Mahalagang mapangalagaan ang pakinabang sa bawat pisong
lumalabas sa kaban ng bayan.
Sa ganitong paraan, maitataas ang antas ng
kabuhayan ng mga Pilipino. At sa isang lipunang masigla ang kabuhayan, matatanggap
natin ang benepisyong nararapat at maaangkin ang mga serbisyong dapat makamtan. Ito
ang solusyon ng Bangon Pilipinas para wala
nang matutuksong gumawa ng kalokohan sa
gobyerno o pribadong sektor. Wala ng magpapasuhol. Wala ng manunuhol. At ang nasasayang na pera sa kurapsyon ay muling maibabalik sa kaban ng bayan para sa pakinabang
ng taumbayan.
Kung mabuti ang kalagayan ng sambayanan,
maunlad sa kanilang kabuhayan, at panatag sa
kanilang komunidad, wala ng dahilan para sa
mga kaguluhan at labanan. Mabubuhos na ang
lahat ng lakas ng bansa para sa sama-samang
pagbangon, pagsulong, at pag-unlad.

tinutuluyang silid sa Causeway Bay, na siya

Nag-umpisang nabago ang ikot ng mundo ni
Valentino noong nakipagkwentuhan sa kanya
si Valentina na naglalakad ng kanyang alagang
aso at napapadaan sa paboritong pwesto ni

nakikiupo muna si Valentina kay Valentino at
doon nahulma ang malasakitan at damayan ng

puso at sa gabi-gabing pagkikita ang awa ay

Hindi nagtagal, isang malamig na Sabado ng
gabi, inalok ni Valentino ang kanyang kwarto
upang doon magpalipas ng kanyang day-off
kinabukasan si Valentina. Isang yugto ng
kanilang buhay na hindi namalayang pinasok
at hindi na naisip kung paano lalabasan.
Si Valentina ay hindi nagsisi dahil nakahanap
siya ng kalinga kahit pa may sariling pamlya
ang kanyang kaibigan. Si Valentino ang tila
nagkaroon ng apekto dahil sa likas na mabait
naiisip ang kanyang kasalanan. Walang nabago
sa kanyang padala at mga tawag sa kanyang
pamilya. Walang nakakaalam sa kanyang mga
kamag-anak dito tungkol sa kanyang lihim
na relasyon. Dating sa park nagkukwentuhan
ay nalipat na sa loob ng kwarto ni Valentino
upang kung linggo ay magpunta man ang mga
kamag-anak ni Valentino, walang bakas na

Bokod Association Marks 19th Anniversary

“Onwards to progress through solidarity” is
the theme of the group which has inspired
them to achieve their goals and reach their 19th
anniversary.
The Lower Peak Tram in Garden Road Central
was the venue of the celebrations last January
10, 2010 which proved to be meaningful,
enjoyable and memorable. It’s also the place
where the group holds their monthly meetings
and rehearsals for their activities.
The celebrations strarted with community
singing, games, playing the beating gongs and
drums. Before the main program, the group
served all the visitors lunch with assorted
Baguio Benguet delicacies like adobo, menudo,
chopsuey and many more. In the middle of
the program, after the induction they served
special snacks with matching hot coffee suited
for the cool breeze that day.
Battle of talents, performances from the
different associations like singing, dancing and
skits added merriment and entertainment for
the audience.
Despite of the cool season, the crowd enjoyed
watching, yelling and laughing at the funny
and artistic skits and pantomimes.
The highlight of the program was the raffle
draw wherein the group gave out 19 major
prizes and 19 consolation prizes to correspond
with the group’s 19 years. Among the major
prizes were turbo coolers, sewing machines
and tv game kits. Some consolation prizes
were wall clocks, multi-lamp and a lot more.

CONFIRMED nang nagbackout si Jennylyn Mercado sa project ni
direk Joel Lamangan para sa Cine Malaya Film Festival, ang indie
film na Sigwa.
Ipinalit agad si Lovi Poe ni direk Joel sa role ni Jennylyn. Big
break ang movie kay Lovi dahil first time siyang lalabas bilang
aktibista sa movie. Huling pinagsamahan nina direk Joel at Lovi
ang highly recommented movie na pinuri ng mga reviewer, ang
Sagrada Familia.
Ayon sa source, walang sinabing kadahilanan kung bakit
nagbackout si Jen. Pero, super busy si Jen ngayon sa bagong
soap niyang Gumapang Ka Sa Lusak. Isang afternoon soap ito na
kailangan ang 3 to 4 days taping weekly. Ang director ng soap ni
Jen ay si Maryo J. delos Reyes.
Eh, sakitin pa naman si Jen. Bukod pa sa dapat madaliin ang
paggawa ng movie na Sigwa dahil isasali ito sa Cine Malaya Film
Festival na ipinalalabas sa Cultural Center of the Philippines theaters.
Unang nagbackout sa movie na Sigwa si Dennis Trillo, tapos si Jen naman, Kasi, pareho sila ni Jen na magkasama sa soap
na Gumapang Ka Sa Lusak na magsisimulang ipalabas sa February 8.
Halos magkadikit ang taping ng Gumapang at ang kasalukuyang soap ni Jen, ang Ikaw Sana!. Kasi kailangan mag-advance
taping ang Gumapang.. eh, papatapos pa lang ang Ikaw Sana.
Halos sa van na lang natutulog si Jen. Ayaw na niyang pahirapan ang sarili. Iba na siyempre ang pinangangalagaan ang
sariling kalusugan.
TANGING si Jennylyn Mercado ang makakasama ni Dennis Trillo sa bisperas ng Valentine’s Day dahil may taping silang

Ayon kay Dennis sa press launch ng Gumapang Ka Sa Lusak, wala siyang talagang ka-Valentine’s date. Komo’t si Jennylyn
ang kapartner niya sa soap opera, bakit di siya ang kanyang ka-date. Wala raw talagang karelasyon si Dennis ngayon.
Itinatanggi nyang nakipagbalikan siya kay Cristine Reyes. Bale pangalawang pagkakataon nang magkapartner sina
Jennylyn at Dennis Trillo. Ayon kay Dennis, magkapartner sila sa movie na Banal, na ginawa four years ago. Kaya okay
lang kunan nila sa first day taping nila ang kanilang mahabang kissing scene na may paikut-ikot pa sa sahig.

Sunday. Bale lalabas si Jen dito na singer na magugustuhan ng isang maimpluwensiyang politician na gagampanan ni Al
Tantay. Si Dennis ay ordinary lang na mangliligaw ni Jen. Dadatungan ni Al ang mga magulang ni Jen, kaya mapipilitan si
Jen na tanggapin ang politician. Dito na magsisimula ng trahedya ng buhay ni Jen. Magiging aktibista siya at lalaban nang
husto. Magsisimula ng soap sa Monday pagkatapos ng Daisy Siete.

ni Joross Gamboa para makapartner sa anumang programa ng network na ibibigay sa
kanya.
Ayon kay Joross, na dating contract artist ng ABS-CBN, na ngayo’y kasama na sa soap ng
GMA 7, ang First Time, na siya’y freelancer na ngayon dahil may bago siyang manager, si

story ng latest movie nina John Lloyd at Bea. Mahirap daw ito i-classify na drama-comedy. Basta sabi ng director ay
mai-love muli ang mga manonood nito. Kasi, part ng movie ay mga personal experience niya. Marami raw kuwento sa
pag-ibig ang batikang director na si Ms. Cathy. Last year lang ay nabiyuda si direk Cathy, ang asawa niya ay namatay sa
road accident.

Anyone can start from now and make a
brand new ending. God did not promise
days without pain, laughter without
sorrow, sun without rain, but He did
promise strength for the day, comfort for
the tears and light for the way.
Disappointments are like road bumps,
they slow you down a bit but you enjoy
the smooth road afterwards. Don’t stay
on the humps too long,. Move on, When
you feel down because you did not get
what you want, just sit tight and be loved
and happy, because God is thinking of
something better for you, when something
happens to you good or bad consider what
it means.
too hard. You cannot make someone love
you. All you can do is be someone who
can be loved. The rest is up to the person
to realize your worth. The measure of
love is when you love without measure. In
life there are very rare chances that you
will meet the person you love and loves
you in return, so when it comes, it might
never come again.
It is better to lose your pride to the one you
love than to lose the one you love because
of pride. We spend much time looking for
the right person to love or finding fault
with those we already love, when instead
we should be perfecting the love we give.
When you truly care for someone, you do
not look for answers. You do not look for
mistakes.You accept the faults and you
overlook the excuses.
Don’t worry! Worrying never solves
anything whether you have control over
something or not you shouldn’t waste your
time or efforts on unnecessary stress.
Don’t expect too much nor even expect to
receive as much as you give. It only opens
the door to disappointments.
Love and be happy with what you do for
others and be pleasantly surprised if they
do the same or more for you.
Love is patient and kind not jealous nor
boastful. Love is setting your love one
free.Give love. Trust and be happy.

PAG-IBIG Fund Mandatory na sa OFWs
Simula ika-1 ng Enero 2010 ay mandatory
na ang pagpapatupad ng Pag- ibig Fund para
sa mga OFWs at Seafarers. Ito ay sa bisa ng
Republic Act 9679 o ang Home Development
Mutual Fund Law 2009 na pinirmahan noong
ika-21 ng Hulyo 2009.
Sa isang pulong na dinaluhan ng mga
Pilipinong lider ng mga manggagawa sa
teritoryo na ginanap sa Philippine Consulate
General Office sa Hong Kong noong ika31 ng Enero 2010, ipinaliwanag ni Jaime A.
Fabiana, Chief Executive Officer ng Pag- ibig
Fund kung ano ang nilalaman ng bagong RA
9679.
“Ang sa amin dapat ay kumbinsido talaga kayo
na mag-join sa pondo para sa inyong kapakanan
din naman ang Pag-ibig Program. Kung titingnan
natin ang batas, kung hindi kayo magpa-miyembro
sa Pag-ibig, wala namang penal provision iyon.
Hindi naman kayo pwedeng i-penalize, hindi
pwedeng makalaboso dahil sa hindi kayo nagpamiyembro.” Ayon kay Fabiana.

kayo, magreremit kayo doon every month kaya
naghahanap kami ng paraan na we would like
to tie-up with POEA where you can remit your
contribution with POEA.”
Ayon pa rin kay Fabiana, “Whether this could
be a requirement for pre-departure, right now wala
pa sa plano namin iyan. Our intention really is
for this year to conduct a very active information
and marketing campaign. To go to countries where
there is a congregation of OFWs and conduct this
briefing and to consult you on how this program
will be implemented properly na hindi kayo
mahihirapan.”
Sagitarius (Nov 23 – Dec 21) You may be
