What are those warning labels on Vinotemp products?
You may have seen the following label on our products:
WARNING: This product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects or other
reproductive harm.
We understand your concerns about the California Proposition 65 warning placed on select products. The warning label added does not mean that our
products will cause cancer or reproductive harm. When used for their intended purpose, our products are not harmful. We are providing this warning as
a result of California law.
Background on Prop 65
Proposition 65 is the California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986. It is an all encompassing law and applies to any company that
operates within California, sells product in California, or manufactures products that may be sold or imported into California.
Prop 65 requires warning labels on any product that contains or may contain any of 700+ elements that the California Air Resources Board considers
harmful. Many of the elements listed under Proposition 65 have been routinely used in everyday consumer items for many years without documented
harm.
Vinotemp products and Prop 65
California imposes steep penalties for non compliance. In order to avoid these penalties and because there are no penalties for providing unnecessary
warning, Vinotemp, along with many manufacturers and retailers, has chosen to provide the Prop 65 notice strictly as a precaution and to avoid the potential for liability.
