President’s Message
O
n behalf of the Board of Directors and the employees of BFCU, best wishes for a happy,
healthy and financially successful 2016. Often when I write at this time of year, the theme is
reflective and I speak about the year that was. I am going to do that very simply and state that
2015 was a great year for our credit union and for most of our members. It was a year of
economic prosperity in our region, a year of strong growth and continued financial success at
the credit union, and a lucrative year for many of our members in the fire service and law enforcement.
I am truly excited about what 2016 has to offer. Two projects, long in the planning cycle, will come to fruition in the first
quarter of the new-year. I am thrilled to announce that in the late February or early March time frame, we will open our first
branch outside of the Hallet St. office. We have entered into a lease for property at 2029 Centre St, in West Roxbury (corner of
Centre and LaGrange) and are excited to bring our services to existing and future members who reside in that area of Boston
and the surrounding communities. We are well into the planning stages and have made a number of staffing decisions that will
ensure the same quality of service that everyone has become accustomed to in Dorchester.
Furthermore, I am happy to announce the creation of BFCU Financial Advisors*, a collaborative offering between Boston
Firefighters Credit Union and CUNA Brokerage Services, Inc. which will allow us to bring financial planning, investment
planning and retirement planning services to our membership. In late January, we hope to have our advisor begin working
with members on all of their financial planning needs.
As always it is our intent to provide our members with the tools that they need to meet their financial goals. We are truly happy
about adding the new branch and the financial advisory service* to our existing menu of products. We begin the new-year with
a sense of excitement and eager anticipation of finding even more ways of helping you achieve financial success.

BFCU is awarding 4 scholarships for
the 2016 – 2017 school year.
2 College Scholarships @ $5,000 each
AND
2 High School Scholarships @ $1,000 each
Additionally, the Cooperative Credit Union Association
is offering a $1,500 college scholarship for graduating high
school seniors that BFCU members can apply for.
All applications are now available at the branch. The
Cooperative Credit Union Association application is due back
by Tuesday, March 1, 2016. BFCU scholarship applications are
due back by Friday, April 15, 2016. If you have any questions
